Survived dive class last night and I'm back and ready to go tonight. I got an interesting e-mail that I will quote here:
There's something both inherently brilliant and amazingly pathetic/vile about the Palestinian intifada. When they increased their violence under the presumption of "humiliation" and "occupation" and a "struggle for a state," they systematically insured that the best jobs (only?) available to the Palestinians would be cut off, as Israel began to regulate their flow into Israeli towns. Further increase the violence under the false pretenses, lose more jobs. Lose more jobs, blame Israel for their "humiliation" and abject poverty. It's brilliant in its nefariousness. It is, however, a tired beat and Israel needs to change the tempo. They, the humans turned blood thirsty animals called the "Palestinians," will reap the whirlwind one of these days. Israel will simply say, "F*ck it, that's it" and entire sections of PLO-controlled land, on the scale of land visible from outer space, will be rubble.
But, the Palestinian leaders, who have no regard for their own followers are counting on the fact that Israel, like the United States, does want to maintain the moral high ground. The useful idiots on the left, on the other hand, seem to somehow find moral equivalence between the Palestinians purposely targeting women and children and Israel inadvertently killing women and children. But maybe, the Palestinian people may someday realize just how badly their leadership has failed them. One of the best and most moving pieces I have ever read along these lines was written by Stephen Den Beste. If there are ever awards given out for blogging this would win one. I wish I could write like this.
So, along those lines, there was an article in yesterday's Atlanta Urinal and Constipation about the problems in the West Bank.
Gaza City, Gaza Strip --- High malnutrition rates indicate a possible humanitarian emergency for Palestinian mothers and children, according to a study released Monday.
More than 9 percent of Palestinians from 6 months to 5 years old suffer
moderate to severe malnutrition, according to the study, commissioned by
Atlanta-based CARE International and the U.S. Agency for International
Development.
And we all know who's fault this is.
American officials have been among those warning Israel that the Palestinians
are on the verge of a humanitarian crisis.
Has anyone talked to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front For the Liberation of Palestine, the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, or all the other Palestinian terrorist groups about this? Once they stop the terrorism, peace will return. Doesn't the proliferation of all these different terrorist groups remind you of The Life of Brian?
A statement Monday from the U.S. Embassy in Israel said the study was of the
''highest professional quality'' and that the United States will increase
contributions to agencies working on the ''urgent nutritional and general health
needs'' of Palestinians.
Wonder how much of that money will actually go to the "urgent nutritional and general health needs" of Palestinians?
International agencies and American officials repeatedly have urged Israel to
relax travel restrictions that have crippled the Palestinians' economy and
increased poverty, which researchers said was the main cause for the
malnutrition.
Ya see, most rational people understand something called cause and effect. When Israel relaxes travel restrictions, suicide bombings go up. Once again, if the bombings stop, travel restrictions will be relaxed. I'd really feel sorry for the Palestinians if they were not bringing this upon themselves.
Israel insists that the restrictions are necessary to prevent suicide bombings.
And I agree.
After three suicide bombings in the past week, Israeli troops clamped down on
movement to and from several Palestinian cities.
And the bombings stop. Cause and effect.
Monday's study reported that food wholesalers and retailers face shortages of
such basic products as bananas and milk. The food sellers said the shortages
are caused mainly by the travel restrictions.
Reminds me of a song, 'Tell All Your Troubles To Jesus'. Oh, they're Muslim? Never mind.
In the Ard El Insan health clinic here, where workers seek to ease malnutrition,
counselors encourage breast-feeding.
Tiny T-shirts given to infants read, ''My mother's breast milk is not affected by the
restrictions.''
Isn't that cute! Wonder who has the T-shirt concession?
On Monday, mothers lined up as usual with their listless infants and toddlers.
Two-year-old Mustafa Suseh has rickets, and his 2-month old sister, Manal, is
anemic.
Their mother Muna Suseh, 32, has nine other children, but she says she cannot
afford to buy more than 30 eggs a month.
Then why the fuck does she have 11 children? She couldn't support them in good times.
They eat one meal a day, which often is cabbage and rice, and they split about a
pound of low-quality meat a week. Her husband sells soft drinks near a school to
earn about $2.50 a day.
Maybe he should sell tiny T-shirts instead.
''This is our life. It is because of the restrictions,,'' she said. ''It would be much
better if there were no Intifada [uprising].''
A rare lucid moment. Maybe she should talk to Arafat about that.
Since the start of the conflict, and especially since the commencement of
bombings inside Israel, the more than 100,000 Palestinians who used to work in
Israel have been barred from entering to go to their jobs.
That's 'cause they have this tendency to blow up.
Some international aide agencies say that unemployment among the 3 million
Palestinians exceeds 40 percent.
There are plenty of openings in the martyr industry. People are dying to join up.
I'm sorry (Actually, I'm not), but I cannot feel any sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians. If all they wanted was a state, maybe I could, but that has never been what they wanted. What Arafat, and the rest of the Arabs have wanted ever since 1948 was the total destruction of Israel. This Palestinian state bullshit has been a strawman ever since Israel conquered the West Bank, Gaza, and the Sinai during the 1967 war. Egypt offered peace and got the Sinai back. Israel offered peace to the Palestinians with the most generous offer the Palestinians will ever get and Arafat launched the latest wave of terror. What many of the Give Peace a Chance crowd in the United States do not realize (I think the Europeans do realize, but they just hate the Jews) is that when the Palestinians speak of the occupied territories they are referring to Palestine and Israel. In the Palestinian schools, there is no Israel in the geopraphy books. The PLO has never revoked the part of their charter, as required by the Oslo agreement, calling for the destruction of Israel. There is a state of war between the Palestinians and Israel. The Palestinians realize this. Even the Give Peace a Chance crowd in Israel is finally beginning to realize it. Stephen Den Beste wrote another time (No, I'm not linking this time. Go read all his stuff. It's good) that the only resolution will be the total defeat of either Israel or the Palestinians. The Palestinian people will have to realize that their leadership has led them to utter ruin and somehow replace them and realize that Israel is here to stay. Israel knows that the first war it loses will be its last. Our job is to prevent outside support of Palestinian terrorist organizations. That is why we must take out Iraq before solving the Palestinian problem. This is what has the Saudis so worried. And well they should be.
Fortunately, until we do take out Iraq, Israel has nothing to worry about, since if Iraq croses the Jordan River to invade Israel (which means that since Israel does not share a border with Iraq, the Iraqi Army will have to cross Jordan first), Bill Clinton will grab a rifle, jump in a ditch and fight and die to protect Israel. If you don't believe that, here is a transcript of Bubba's induction interview with an Israeli Army recruiter.
Say goodnight, Hillary
