Reposting my Diversity entry made me remember that I have been meaning to write about Multiculturism for quite some time. I sure am thankful I didn't have this shit rammed down my throat when I was in the public school system back in the 50's and early 60's. I graduated from high school in 1964 long before this crap became fashionable.
The Multiculturists would have us believe that every culture on the planet is equal and has moral relevance. To believe this bullshit, one would have to believe that a culture (like radical Islam) that brainwashes its children and teaches them that strapping on an explosives belt and blowing up a busload of innocent people is no better or worse than a culture (like the Quakers) that preaches peace and tolerance. A person with two or more functioning brain cells would realize just how stupid this is. Well, I never did say liberals were smart.
Throughout our history we have had many cultures disappear or be absorbed into other cultures. The Romans absorbed the Etruscans. The Medes and Persians absorbed the Babylonians. The Eastern Mediterranean became Hellenized as a result of being conquered by Alexander the Great. If the Multiculturists would have had their way back in the Stone Age, we would still be living in caves today, because it would have been wrong to destroy the caveman's culture.
Caveman1: Grunt grunt grunt grunt. (Translation: Dude, I need the cave tonight. I'm gonna go across the valley and bonk the blonde chick on the head and drag her back here and boink her brains out.)
Caveman 2: Grunt grunt grunt grunt. (Translation: Cool dude. I'll go hang out with our friends up the hill. Just remember when you drag her back, drag her by the hair and not the legs.
Some cultures are better than others. I feel our culture is superior to Arabic culture for many reasons. One that jumps out at me is the way we treat our women. They are not chattel to be bought and sold. Our women have rights and with those rights comes the right to vote. It was women who elected Bill Clinton. Ooops! Bad example.
When I was growing up, the United States was extolled as being the great melting pot. American culture was made up of an amalgam of various cultures, each of which added sumpin' to the American culture. By the second generation, the immigrants spoke fluent English and became Americans. They kept some remnants of their culture, but they knew above all that they were Americans. My ancestors came from England and Germany. My mother's side, which is 100% German, has never referred to itself (at least in my lifetime) as German Americans. The same with my father's side. We are 100% American.
I hate the concept of hyphenated Americans. It is really ironic that for one hundred years after the Civil War blacks were still trying to assimilate into American society and just as this was happening with civil rights legislation, they decided they wanted to be segregated. They were no longer Americans, they were now African-Americans, with their own culture, their own Africanized names, and their own language (Ebonics). Doing well in school was 'acting white'.
Look at the Indians, native Americans (Wait a minute! I'm a native American! I was born here), Injuns, red men, dammit those people who were here when the first Europeans arrived. We've kept their culture alive. We've kept 'em on reservations. Many of 'em are alcoholics. Howza 'bout that culture? But, they are starting to fight back. They're opening gambling casinos and taking the white man's money. Right on, Tonto!
Of course liberals love Multiculturism. This lets them divide people into distinct groups and pit those groups against each other. Bilingual education is an example of that. By 'respecting the culture' of immigrants and teaching them in their own language it pretty much guarantees that they'll get menial jobs (if any) and will probably have to depend on gummint programs to survive. And, since they're poor, due to misguided (In some cases, Like the Race Warlord Poverty Pimps, I think it's planned) policies, the Dimocrats can blame everything on 'the rich', and get these poor people to vote Dimocrat. Of course, the Dimocrats will keep doing all the things that will keep people dependent on the gummint. Keep 'em uneducated. Keep 'em from learning English. Keep 'em on the Dimocratic plantation.
Look around the world and just as you can see how socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried, you can also see multiculturism in action and the misery it brings.
