In case you don't know what's going on under the covers with Windows, here is what it's doing with your files.

Saturday Kim du Toit posted a link to a site that lists members of the Dimocrat Party who are also members of the Democratic Socialists of America.
I'm gonna repost a quote by Thomas Sowell.
Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.
And, I have another quote that I read somewhere but don't know who made it originally.
Socialists believe that the only reason socialism has never worked is because the right people haven't been in charge and enough money has not been thrown at it.
And don't ask me which socialist said that it hasn't worked because the right people haven't been in charge. It is obvious to the most casual observer. Why else, in spite of blatant failures of socialism such as the USSR and all the Warsaw pact nations, do we still have people who want to try to implement socialism? It just flat doesn't work!
I've been to Russia. It is a country with vast natural resources including lots of oil. It should be one of the richest nations on earth. Seventy years of socialism turned it into a basket case. On our tour, we had Russians begging us "rich" Americans for money. And when we were leaving the country, the security guards were holding up members of our tour for a "departure tax" on souvenirs. When some members of our tour griped about it they were told that "You rich Americans can afford it!"
This was a country that we were at war with for forty years. The Soviet Union went bankrupt trying to keep up with us. Capitalism triumphed over socialism. Yet we still have people, in spite of the very obvious failure of socialism, who think they can make it work. Amazing!
Here is a list of the California members of the House of Representatives who are also members of the Democratic Socialists of America:
That's eleven menbers of the California delegation to the House. I think California has 45 House members. That means 1/4 of the California delegation are avowed socialists. 1/4! 25%! Is it any wonder that California is going down the drain?
I had some really good comments on my last post on
California by Zhang Fei, xCavTrooper, and Addison about the California situation.
Addison pointed out that part of California's problem is the liberal court system. That's the problem throughout the country. What the socialists cannot get passed in the various legislatures, they have liberal judges legislate from the bench. Screw the Constitution! It's a "living document". That's why the Dimocrats are desperately filibustering judicial appontments in the Senate. The last thing they want is a judiciary that will enforce the Constitution. Bastards!
To all you centrists and soccer moms who think conservative judges are gonna overturn Roe v Wade, it ain't gonna happen! Abortion will not be bannned! I am so sick of the Dims using this strategy over and over again. The American public, although against abortion is also against banning it.
When my sister and her husband were moving from the Bay Area earlier this year, they had problems finding the right size U-Haul trailer. My brother-in-law had to drive 50 miles north of San Francisco to find what he needed. There weren't any in the Bay Area because too many people were moving out.
In California, we have another example of the failure of socialism. I'm still worried that we will wind up bailing out California. The size of their congressional delegation gives them a lot of clout. They have defense contractors and military bases. Even with the dot.com bubble bursting, there still are a lot of companies in Silicon Valley. Oracle comes to mind.
If the economy doesn't come back, Bush is beatable, and California with its 47 (I think) electoral votes will play a big part. A Dimocrat would be very grateful. Just another reason not to elect a Dimocrat.
All right, I rambled all over the map on this one. I really need Addison or xCavTrooper to wriite a really good post on this. They both write better than I do.
So, to summarize: Socialism sucks. Give California to Mexico.
