Well the circus in California is continuing. I'm hoping Bustamante wins.
WTF? Why is that?
So we can give the Dimocrats more time to totally fuck up the state. You know what Bustamante's plans are dontcha?
No. What are his plans?
What is a Dimocrat's solution to every revenue problem?
Tax the rich?
Bingo! Tax the rich! That's the ticket. After all, those evil rich folks don't pay their fair share. But he better hurry.
Why's that?
'Cause the rich are leaving in droves. Last year there were 44,000 people with a net worth of over $1 million. This year there are only 29,000. In an earlier post I told how hard it was for my brother-in-law to find a U-Haul trailer in the Bay Area. That's because so many people were bailing. He had to drive 50 miles north to find one.
The high (and soon to be higher) taxes are driving out the rich. The onerous taxes and regulations on businesses are driving them out of the state also.
The uncertain power situation has to be a factor also, although California does have a lot of Molly Ivins' precious windmills. Too bad they don't seem to generate too much power. You can blame California's power woes on the environmentalists. No oil. No coal. No nukes. No natural gas. No power plants. Wind and solar. That's the ticket!
The Dimocrats have given generous pensions to the unions. I'm feeling a little deja vu here. Didn't we see sumpin' similar happen in New York City about 20 years ago when the federal gummint had to bail the city out because of, among other things, generous union pensions? We are about to see the New York City bail out on a much larger scale. And guess who gets to pay the bill?
The population decline in California would be much larger if it weren't for the influx of illegal aliens and the PC crowd won't do anything about them. They are costing a lot in social services, but do not pay the necessary taxes to help defray the expense.
And now we have an incredulous idea. Let's give drivers licenses to illegal aliens. Now work with me on this. If they show up at the DMV to get a license and have no documentation to prove they are legal, then they must be illegal, right? So why aren't they arrested on the spot and sent back to Mexico? Is there sumpin' in the water in California that causes all this departure from reality? This must really be California Dreaming.
In California we get to see Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged come to life. Bustamante can't fix it. He won't fix it. He will just continue with the policies that caused the problems and we will see the problems continue to get worse.
Looks like California Dreaming is gonna turn out to be a nightmare.
And California is gonna turn out to be France.
