Stupidity

I was at work on Monday and was trying to get the job on my install to run that had failed last week. I finally figgered out everything that was wrong and all was going well until up popped a message that said "Specify volume for dataset xxxxxxx". I replied with the correct volume and it came back and said "Unacceptable Volume". Hmmmm! Sumpin's seriously wrong here.

I looked on my DASD list to find the correct volume to vary online and the VOLID was wrong. This can't be good news. It turns out that after IML'ing the magic box last week, two of my volumes somehow got messed up. So, back to where I started. Fortuntately, I was able to recreate everything I had done on Monday, and I will be able to go back in next week and be right back where I was, but I did feel stupid for messing up.

That brings up today's topic which is stupidity. I've been dealing with stupid people all of my life so you think that I would be used to them by now, but I'm not. I could tell stories about some of my early days at TCIDNN and the stupid people I had to deal with, but that would give people more information as to what company TCIDNN (The Company I Dare Not Name) is and I don't really want to do that until right before I retire.

I've always been amazed at people who, even when presented with irrefutable logic, still insist on believing sumpin' stupid. Here's an example. Some booger eatin' moh-ron named Noah Bachman posted the following in my comments a few days ago:

In fact, in South America the government that seems to work in the best interests of its people is Cuba!

Now this just has to peg the stupid meter. Likewise, about a year ago, some twit wrote a letter to the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation praising Cuba for supplying free medical care and free education to all of its citizens.

OK. Let's take these one at a time.

If Cuba cares so much for its citizens why are they forbidden to leave? Why do they brave shark infested waters in flimsy water craft trying to leave the country? If Cuba is so great, the gummint should be trying to keep people out rather than trying to keep people in. Someone who cannot see this has to be so stupid that they have problems getting dressed in the mornings. Or maybe they are on some fantastic drugs. Noah, if you have some good drugs, let me know.

Free education. We have that in Atlanta. In the inner city I'm sure they pay no taxes and therefore their education is free. By golly, they get what they pay for 'cause the Atlanta public schools suck big time!

Free medical care. I have just one question for the person who wrote that letter. You need heart surgery. Do you want to have it in Havana or Boston? I could do an entire rant on gummint provided health care. Just think with Hillary Care we could have had the efficiency of the Department of Motor Vehicles, the customer service of the Post Office, and the compassion of the IRS all rolled up into one. As P. J. O'Rourke once said, "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see how much it costs when it's free".

Anyone with an IQ over that of a third grade pissant ought to realize that Cuba is a totalitarian communist state and the people would be better off if the gummint there was overthrown. Those who don't believe that are called
Dimocrats.

We had this same kind of bullshit during the Cold War. You remember the Cold War dontcha? That was the last war that the Dimocrats wanted to lose. The war before the War on Terror which is the current war the Appeasement> Dimocrat Party wants to lose. All we heard from the left was what a great place the Soviet Union was. Y'know, worker's paradise and all of that crap.

Once again, all you had to do was apply a little bit of common sense and the intelligence slightly above that of a moron. If the Soviet Union, and the rest of the Warsaw Pact nations, were such great places to live, why didn't they let their citizens pack up and leave? Why did they keep them walled in? Why were people shot when trying to get across the Berlin Wall? But there were people so stupid that they couldn't see this. These people were called Dimocrats.

Here in the United States, people are free to leave anytime they want. In fact, I would love to see people like Barbra Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Robert Altman, and all the other Hollywood nitwits who have threatened to leave this country just hop on a plane and go. They keep threatening to do that. Why won't they?

And socialists (also known as Dimocrats). Socialism has never worked anywhere it has been tried. In fact, it has managed to bankrupt every economy in every country that has tried it. Cuba is a prime example. France and Germany are soon to implode unless they make serious reforms. The only country that has even come close to making socialism work is Sweden and its economy is going downhill fast. Yet still we have people who think that if only the right people are in charge or if we only have enough money to properly fund it, they can get socialism to work. These people are (choose one) stupid, deluded, or are on some bitchin' drugs dude. They're also called Dimocrats.

TANSTAAFL - There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Anyone who does not believe that statement is stupid (also a Dimocrat).

"I never had sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Any one who believed that statement is not only stupid, but is a fucking idiot!

And you people in New York, you elected someone to the United States Senate who claims she believed that statement.

Does that make New York the State of Stupidity?
