Some people at a forum that faithful reader Jesse had me check out and post a rebuttal to an asshole took offence at me calling Max Cleland Stumpy. Why am I so mean to him? Because as a disabled person who has never used my disability as a crutch (pun intended) I despise him for the way he has decided to politicize the fact that he is now a unidextrer. I could maybe understand if he had been injured on the battlefields of Viet Nam like the Dimocrats would like you to believe, but he lost his limbs behind the lines when he was getting in a helicopter, after having a few beers with his buddies and he saw a grenade on the ground and bent over to pick it up. There is a conjecture that it fell off his belt as he was entering the helicopter. Whatever. It exploded and that is when he lost his limbs.
Up until a few years ago he was an honorable man and was the first person to say that he was not a hero. He did not receive a purple heart, nor did he want one, because this was not a battlefield accident.
After he was elected to the Senate he changed from a moderate to a liberal and became a Tom Daschle Dimocrat. He started playing up the war hero bullshit when his opponent in the 2002 election pointed out that he was more interested in union jobs than national security. That's when the Dimocrats started with the "war hero" bullshit and "questioning the patriotism of a man who lost three limbs on the battlefields of Viet Nam". Now he is running around as Kerry's mascot saying "Look at me! I'm a crippled war hero." As a cripple myself I am disgusted that he is politicizing his behind the lines accident.
The Atlanta Urinal and Constipation had a write up of his political mail delivery stunt. And that is what it was. A calculated political stunt. Send the crippled "war hero" down to shame Bush. This from a party that for eight years said military service didn't matter and ran a draft dodger against two genuine heroes who didn't brag about their military service. Senator Kerry, real heroes don't brag. You are a fucking despicable fraud as is your political party!
What did Stumpy have to say to the presss?
"What they are doing is unconscionable," Cleland said of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the group running the ads. "And George Bush is behind it."
Prove. It. Bush has said absolutely nothing about Kerry's service other than saying it was honorable. You and the rest of your party, including Flipper, has accused Bush of being AWOL in the National Guard. He has released all of his records. Your candidate has not.
And let's talk about the 527's. The only link between the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth and the Bush campaign was Benjamin Ginsberg who to avoid any appearance of impropriety resigned from the Bush campaign
.
Let's look at the 527's on the Dimocrat side and their links to the Dimocrats.
But this is OK because they are Dimocrats and the media gives the Dimocrat Party a pass. Media bias? Naw!
Let's continue.
Cleland then dodged Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, a Republican who offered to deliver the letter to Bush if Cleland would accept a letter of response."He would not face me," said Patterson. "He kept rolling away from me. He's quite mobile."
Just damn, that Stumpy is fast!
"We're having to go through Vietnam again," Cleland lamented.
Who the fuck brought Viet Nam up Stumpy? Who decided to make his four months in Viet Nam the centerpiece of his campaign? He refuses to run on his record as an anti-war protester and member of a communist front organization Viet Nam Veterans Against the War. He refuses to run on his record as Michael Dukakis' Lieutenant Governor. He refuses to run on his record of 20 years in the Senate where he authored no major legislation, he voted against every major weapons system, he voted to cut intelligence spending, he missed over 70% of the meetings of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and his liberal record has made Ted Kennedy the conservative senator from Massachusetts.
I would love to hear where he stands on the issues rather than hear him answer every question with "I served in Viet Nam" and "I would do a better job than Bush". He is a fucking empty suit who is playing up a four month tour of duty where it is beginning to look like he exagerated his exploits and down right lied about other stuff like having spending Christmas in Cambodia "seared" in his memory while being shot at by drunken South Vietnamese allies celebrating Christmas while his president (and he meant Nixon) lied about US soldiers being in Viet Nam. Three, count 'em, three lies. He wasn't in Cambodia, Nixon wasn't president Christmas of 1968, and the Vietnamese don't celebrate Christmas. This guy lies more than Clinton. He's just not as good at it.
Clinton without the charm. Algore without the charisma.
Stumpy, your buddy Flipper is the one who wants us to go through Viet Nam again because that is all he has. And he is using you and you should be ashamed of yourself.
By the way, has anyone read this letter? This paragraph just jumps out at you at being the height of hypocrisy.
"Our pain from seeing these slanderous attacks stems from something much more fundamental, that if one veteran's record is called into question, the service of all American veterans is questioned," they said.
"the service of all American veterans is questioned". This is the party that demeaned Viet Nam veterans during the war. John Kerry, by the standards of Dimocrats, told lies to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Remember the 16 words in the State of the Union that started out "British intelligence has told us..."? Bush was stating what British intelligience had told us. The Dimocrats say this is lying. Kerry testified what Viet Nam "veterans" (many of the members of VVAW were not evern veterans) had told him. By Dimocrat standards these are lies.
And to hear the Dimocrats who hate the military, supported a draft dodger who in his own words "loathed the military" talk about how much this disturbs them is total bullshit!
Howza 'bout the letter that Stumpy refused to deliver to the Poodle?
The Bush-Cheney campaign responded with a letter to Kerry signed by seven Vietnam veterans, including Patterson and GOP Reps. Duke Cunningham and Duncan Hunter of California and Sam Johnson of Texas. The letter, which Patterson said was drafted by the Bush campaign, expresses respect for all veterans but complains about Kerry's anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam.
"We served honorably in Vietnam and we were deeply hurt and offended by your comments when you came home," they said. "You can't build your convention and much of your campaign around your service in Vietnam and then try to say that only those veterans who agree with you have a right to speak up."
But you don't understand, only Dimocrats are allowed free speech. Conservatives are not allowed to voice their opinions. Dimocrat 527's have spent over $60 million so far. Good. Swift Boat Veterans have spent les than $1 million. Bad. The Dimocrats have sent out lawyers to television stations trying to stifle free speech. They have tried to suppress the book, Unfit For Command, and I bet they'll try to supress the upcoming TV documentary about Kerry.
Farenheit 9/11. Good. Stolen Honor. Bad.
No word on Stumpy's current whereabouts.
Who told you to belive everything the republicans say?
Posted by: JP on August 27, 2004 11:28 PMYou got one thing wrong in this article. Kerry has released all of his military records. You just have to show up at his campaign headquarters and request them. He has also posted the highlights on his own website. Did you also know that he served in Vietnam? What a stupid fucker this guy is. I can't wait for the debates.
Posted by: Matt Ashby on August 27, 2004 11:28 PMI would like to read your comments on GW's downfalls?? that should be a hoot!
Posted by: JP on August 27, 2004 11:31 PMMatt, what makes you think that GW is going to all of a sudden look smart just because he is in a debate?
Posted by: JP on August 27, 2004 11:34 PMCongrats, GOC. Looks like you just got a new troll. Looking forward to fun in the comments!
As for Stumpy (Such a good name, I giggle every time I see that here. I know exactly who you are talking about, although it's hard to explain at work :) it's just a simple case for Stumpy and the Dems: Do as I say, not as I do.
I say this as a former Dem. I voted for Bush in 2000 simply because I couldn't see Al and his queen, Tipper, as our CIC. Couldn't do it. And after 9/11, I was thankful I did so.
Bush does so many things here at home that I don't agree with, but I'm a one issue voter. He's strong on keeping the war where it belongs, where it begins.
You are so right, Kerry is just an empty suit.
He made an unannounced (sp) visit here in MN and he, wait for it....PAID for his corn dog. OMG.
He came here for the State Fair and he paid for his corn dog. Big friggin' deal.
But that's what the local press said. I've already read the op/ed boards and wanted to puke.
Sorry to go on and on. Just wanted to relate, there is sanity here in MN.
I for one won't be voting for that POS.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Posted by: Gina on August 28, 2004 12:16 AMWay to go JP, I see you've read John Kerry's book The New Soldier, it free at: http://johnkerrythenewsoldier.blogspot.com/
John is so suave and, and , debonaire.
Posted by: Jack on August 28, 2004 12:16 AMBecause he'll be armed with integrity and facts and a moral compass. Who the hell are you? Did you graduate from Yale? Yeah, I didn't think so. You should go over to Dimocrat Underground, they'll welcome you with open socialist arms.
Posted by: Matt Ashby on August 28, 2004 12:18 AMNo word on Stumpy's current whereabouts.
1 Did you check outside on your front door step.
2 Maybe out in the front yard looking like a dead tree.
3 He could of got lost in the mail.
4 What if he went back to capital hill to do some real work.
JP Troll this (Sorry cant make a graphic of the finger)
Posted by: Greg DiCroce on August 28, 2004 12:36 AMJohn Kerry once again conspicuously provides what a knavish asshole he is by sending a decrepit, partially brainwashed cripple to deliver a bullshit letter to the President.
What a fucking publicity stunt!! Like most of the Den o' rats(democrats) stunts, this one proves to be most transparent and unnecessary due to the fact that we live in an age where telephones and the internet will suffice in expressing ones sentiments. But only a Democrat would send a letter via the Crippled Express in order to make a statement to the media that coincidentally happened to be waiting.
Posted by: agdegro on August 28, 2004 12:47 AMLots of hate here tonight .. FACTUAL hate, but hate none-the-less.
"Thank you, Sir! May I please have another!"
(sigh) no bridge-building today; just hate. (shrug) I can get that at discount almost anywhere. Maybe somethin good in boobage; I'll go look.
Posted by: Dan S on August 28, 2004 03:04 AMDenny,
Most of the connections between the DNC and Moveon.org are openly boasted about on the DNC website.
Posted by: addison on August 28, 2004 06:54 AMOh, even the news media, who loathe Bush, saw through this political stunt. Cleland has disappeared and his name, or reference to the Crawford ranch, is not of the front page of ABC news, CNN, or Fox News.
The media may be ignorant of a huge number of things, but they know when someone is trying to play them for fools.
Can you imagine the looks the press must have been exchanging whilst following this one-armed man in a wheelchair during his fevered attempts to get past Secret Service in order to give his sacred letter to Bush? I bet they had a good laugh amongst themselves when Cleland wasn't around.
The stunt was political inanity (and emotional immaturity) at its worst--however, it is not as they I expect class, propriety, or intelligence from the Democrat Party (shrugging shoulders).
Posted by: addison on August 28, 2004 07:05 AMI'm sorry JP I missed the part where I wrote that I 'belive' everything the Republicans say. I don't. I do say that they hold themselves to a higher standard than the Dimocrats hold themselves. Likewise the MSM holds them to a higher standard than they hold the Dimocrats. The Republican supposed link to their 527 resigned. None of the Dimocrat links did nor will the MSM bring that up. When a Republican kills someone (Jankow) he resigns. When a Dimocrat kills someone (Kennedy) he becomes a revered member of the party.
If you want to troll this site get your facts straight. Either that or fuckoff!
Posted by: Denny Wilson on August 28, 2004 08:23 AMJP - At least GW doesn't contradict himself in the same sentence like Flipper did the other day. And about the debates, remember, Gore was gonna kick Bush's ass. Didn't happen did it. Bush is gonna have an easier time in these debates. All he has to do is sit back and let Mr. Nuance debate himself.
Go rent Farenheit 9/11 and jerk off to it.
Posted by: Denny Wilson on August 28, 2004 09:01 AMDan s. - It's not so much hate as disgust that a naional party would stoop to these tricks.
Posted by: Denny Wilson on August 28, 2004 09:08 AMNo word on Stumpy's current whereabouts.
He changed his name to Russel and he's hiding in the dead leaves behind your house? ;]
Posted by: Ironbear on August 28, 2004 11:49 AMOmigawd! They dropped him in a pothole and called him Phil. They took him waterskiing and called him skip.
Posted by: Denny Wilson on August 28, 2004 03:18 PMDenny, on a side note, I was wondering if you believed that "La Guerra" was 'using' her disability as a crutch, with which she writes 'summon'? I think she shows that there are times when disability can be used, but this doesn't aapply to politics.
Posted by: matthew g on August 28, 2004 04:13 PMYeppers. Took him swiming and changed his name to Bob. ;]
Posted by: Ironbear on August 28, 2004 04:26 PMthey dropped him on hot cement and called him Flip
had to get that in; not much room for "politically incorrect" jokes these days. guess i got it from Mom - she bought me a GI Joe toy soldier at the height of the anti-war protests. Of course, that was Texas, and the protestors weren't as common there as other places. Thanks, Mom.
Posted by: daniel on August 28, 2004 05:29 PMJust think if there were two of him and they were hung by a window they would be Curt and Rod.
Posted by: Denny Wilson on August 28, 2004 06:09 PMHeh heh heh. Daniel, just wait until Denny tackles the abortion debate, and we start doing Dead Baby jokes. Ya ain't seen tasteless, yet. ;)
Well, if the DNC goes into denial mode on the letter incident and claims that Rove had Cleland framed, we can call him Art.
Posted by: Ironbear on August 28, 2004 06:41 PMHe's outside your front door, just call him "Matt". Or was he hiding in the back of your closet, just call him "Dusty". Or he might be in the hot-tub, going by the name of "Stu".
He has a one-legged girlfriend named "Ilene", which is really a eerie co-incidence, since he had a one-legged girlfriend in 'Nam named "Irene".
