Yikes, SHe scares me. Even more than FrakenDork her husband.

I think Laura Bush is probably the pre-eminent image of what an American female can/would/might be!
I sleep with my spouse of 27 years precisely because of how BAD she makes me feel some days.
I do this in understanding of how BAD I sometimes make HER feel some days.
We came from stardust-time; we will return to such. Shall we use our brief time to HATE, to snipe, to be ugly?
Lest there be any misunderstanding: I once heard the Moody Blues (live) say "conceiving the Heavens! ... FLOURISHING on Earth!"
I bought into that idea in 1969 after I killed the first person who ever tried to KILL me ... -it was in Viet Nam. I have not -and will not- kill in such a way again.
Denny, I mean no evil toward you and your poster's, but GOD DAMN IT! Are you not promoting hatred and mis-understanding??? Are you not promoting blind-hatred-killing of anyone who does not subscribe to your World-View?
I am FIGHTING with myself in regard to explaining to you, to posting for you, to SHOWING you & yours EXACTLY what hot metal does to any-given-body when metal violently enters flesh. We have REASONS for this?
YOU have a voice & a readership! Damnit, I WANT to 'read' you every single day, but some days ... you slip into mindless-hatred and my still-oozing wounds want nothing more than to say: 'touch'.
You should see how much trouble I cause at various reunions: I wear my Air Force Decorations at Marine Corps Balls and I attend Air Force reunions wearing Marine decorations. Like you, I am garrulous; like you I am acerbic; Unlike you, I'm still seeking/trying/aching to find ways to still appreciate the experience of others in light of thier OWN experience.
I'll continue to check in here and read you, but please understand that I'm detecting that 'thing' in your posts that says you've given-up on expecting the very BEST of our fellow-humans.
If such is not immediately-forthcoming, it only means that WE have more work to do. I'm here for you if you need me.

Posted by: Dan S on October 29, 2004 12:42 AMTell ya what, Dan. Why don't you head over to the "Sandbox" and meet with some of the Imams leading these Islamofanatics and see just what it would take for them to quit their murderous ways. We're willing to do anything but two things. We won't give up America and our culture and we won't roll over on Israel and her right to exist. Then, when they've handed you your head, tell us what they say.
The bottom line is this. What they want is the obliteration of everything that's not Muslim. I find that totaly unacceptable and will fight to the death to prevent it. Barbra Streisand may find the idea of a burqa appealing, and to be honest the idea of Barbra in a burqa is more appealing than the alternative, but I'll be Goddamned if my daughters are going to be forced to do that.
Posted by: Ralph Gizzip on October 29, 2004 08:29 AMDan - In case you haven't noticed we are at war. I hate those who hate me. When the barbarous Muslims decide to live in the 21st Century and renounce violence then I will cease to hate them. When all I hear is hate spewing out of the Middle East mosques I find it hard to expect the best of those people. Once again, I am truly sorry that your Viet Nam experience has made you bitter and anti-war. We did not start this war. I do want us to finish it.
Posted by: Denny Wilson on October 29, 2004 09:23 AMLads, know this:
If Personal War came to my address on my street, I assure you there would be no more fierce warrior than myself.
All the agit-prop, all the spin aside, I think perhaps what might best-benefit 'America' is if we did indeed have to fight for what we think proper right here in our own backyard.
Consider the above in terms of offense-versus-defense: sooner or later, the defense is gonna get winded and wear down. The 'sting' of efficient offense just might cause any given defense to lose heart.
Like GWB, I say: 'Bring 'em ON!' UNLIKE Gwb, I'm ready to fight for what I think is right. The towel-heads in my neighborhood know where I catch fire & they steer clear of igniting anything.
The said-same ragheads also know that if they need anything that my family can provide, it's 'there' for them.
All that's different from our 'foreign policy' here on our cul-de-sac and the larger 'War on Terrorism' is that we demand equal (if not BETTER!) respect in simple giving.
Yep! Giving without hope or expectation of getting.
Somehow, some strange sort of way, mutual RESPECT reigns in our neighborhood. I always pump my fist and smile when I see the Ethiopians holding some Cambodian for a perhaps-crime against the Irish who live next door to the olde Italan-couple; Anna, of Yugoslavia, is the elderly-lady who daily walks our streets with her grandson and spreads the daily news.
Yeah, we are all agreed: BRING THEM 'foriegners' to OUR neighborhood! See if they get any ethnic-biscuits or special-treatment!
PS: As a USMC/USAF veteran with a USN Son, we are regarded as the MILITANT-faction of our 'hood. We are considered as eccentric, we are a 'unit' and we respect each other.
Ever tasted Ukrainian biscuits with a -DILUTED- Nuac Mam sauce?
The times, they are a'changing.
