Missing An Opportunity

Didja catch Arafat's funeral over the weekend? I particularly enjoyed the coffin swarm. I was hoping they would dump him out like the Iranians did with Khomeini. Another fun part was watching the Palestinians shoot their guns in the air. Your average Palestinian has no conception of gravity. He doesn't understand that what goes up, comes back down and usually hits someone.

Now the biggest impediment to a solution of the Israeli/Palestinian problem is dead. For all of the platitudes heaped on Yasser Arafat he was a terrorist. That's it. That is all he knew. He did not want peacxe. He wanted the destruction of Israel. Just like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, he played off of his people's misery and enriched himself. As long as Arafat was alive there would be no peace.

Abba Eban once said, "The Palestinians have never missed an opportunity to miss an iopportunity". I'm sure in the next six months we'll see them miss another opportunity for peace and their own sovereign state.

They now want to bring back the Roadmap For Peace starting immediately. Good luck. They are fighting over who's gonna take Arafat's place and it ain't gonna be a pretty sight.

Even if Mahmoud Abbas comes out on top, it still won't solve the problems the Palestinians have. When he was Arafat's prime minister he said he would not crack down on Hamas because that would start a civil war.

Dear Mahmoud: The Road Map says that you have to stop terrorism. If you cannot rein in Hamas, the Road Map is dead. Sincerely, George W. Bush.

We finallly have a president who insists that the Palestinians have to hold up their end of the bargain. Here's my suggestion. If you assholes can go six months without any homicide bombings we'll bring back the Road Map. Unfortunately, that isn't gonna happen.

The Israelis are gonna finish their barrier and sit back and watch the Palestinian civil war. It's not gonna be a pretty sight.

Khomeini's funeral....still the greatest ever. A splendid time was had by all. Who would have thought Khomeini could dance like that...begin dead and all....

But it will be entertaining.

I think that funeral would've been really improved had about four or six F-16s dropped full loads of a mix of napalm cannisters and cluster bombs on it.

See how this gets no one anywhere?

May I strum something?

I would commend to all concerned the following:
( Capo 3rd Fret )

G Em C Am
Well how do you do young Willie McBride,
D D7 C G
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside,
Em C Am
And rest for a while neath the warm summer sun,
D D7 C G
I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done.
G Em C Am
I see by your gravestone you were only 19,
D C G D7
When you joined the great fallen in 1916,
G Em Am
I hope you died well and I hope you died clean,
D D7 C G
Or young Willie McBride was it slow and obscene.

Chorus:

G D D7 C G
Did they beat the drum slowly, did they play the fife lowly,
D D7 C D
Did they sound the dead march, as they lowered you down,
C G Em
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
G C D7 G
Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest.

There are those who call for control; those who would impose a vision of 'will' on others. Sadly, surprisingly, such is not an American exclusive.

Dan - Palestinians target women and children. Israelis target terrorists. Big difference. The Palestinians killed the last attempt at peace. That's why Israel is building the fence and withdrawing from Gaza. Let the dickheads fight amongst themselves.

Not quite sure: women & children are/are not terrorists? Anyone targeted by Israel is a terrorist? This is not an attempt at semantic-content, but a genuine question asking about the causes of calamities.

If Israel targeted YOU, does that mean automatically that you are indeed as someone else said? In this event, should I not at least attempt to hear YOUR side of it?

Even today, I just don't think the human-condition is easily fit to an either/or premise. Unless our world is one of kill/be killed.

If indeed this is the case, then music, art, feeling, care & concern are but distractors & misdirection scams. Art, creativity, spontaneous-things ..... just mindless pass-times, right?

And if THIS be the case, .... well, why do we even bother to live?

"Another fun part was watching the Palestinians shoot their guns in the air."

I was waiting (praying... to Allah, of course!) that they'd hit the choppers hovering overhead. The Pal's love blowing everyone else's aircraft out of the sky, would've loved to see 'em get two of their own, especially with Avafart on one.

I'm an Irish Son born on Chicago's South Side prior to integration.

While I do not hate, and draw no larger lesson from experiencing how one one race enveloped another, it amazes me when I drive back thru the alleys of my youth and see how the very rooms of my childhood are now inhabited by 'others'.

A fellow name-entitled of Willie Dixon composed SONGS in the very-confines of the place where my Grandmother put cold wash-cloths on my fevered-head and soothed me.

While I don't claim that such made me a better singer, I DO claim amazement.

There are larger things at work far & above our poor powers to add or detract. With this in mind, I think we have but this single given-day to deal with.

Therefore, I ask myself daily: What will you do with THIS day given to you! You can hate, you can resent, you can scheme, you can even engineer!

My very-best Baptist-neighbor has come 'round to at least contemplating the efficacy of my experience.

Together, the two of us are a terror to our neighborhood. Terrorists such as we be, the newly-arrived Latino/Immigrant population dare not piss us off.

No matter; they collapsed early when my wife showed up with a casserole.

Now I find out that one of them is handy with plumbing; another is handy with electrical work.

Imagine my AMAZEMENT that this takes place in Georgia!

Most of these asshole-immigrant-aliens voted Bush.

Like Zell says: "Bomb the HELL out of them!"

Question: Zell, who is 'them'?
Answer: Does not matter!

Comment: IT DOES MATTER!

I got a big kick out of the Pale-swinians firing all those AKs into the air, knowing that the rounds are coming down with almost the velocity that they leave the muzzle. I think the prospect of the Palis killing off each others in thousands will be great. Israel just has to keep building the fence, and wait them out. And Dan S, don't you realize that Israel has been showing incredible restraint? if they wanted to really pound the Pale-swinieans, they would be gone in a couple of weeks.

Posted by: John Cunningham on November 15, 2004 02:27 AM

Yep! Restraint! That premier-attribute! Thank goodness that when one is stopped in traffic, such-attribute is the primary-concern of the one who thinks that you are innocent until proven guilty!

Let us now bow our heads and pretend ....

Dan - The Israelis had pulled out of the West Bank and Gaza. Ehud Barak gave Arafat 96% of what he was asking for. Arafat walked away and started the current intifada. It wasn't until the Pals started blowing up buses and shooting Israeli children in their beds that the Israelis moved back into the territories. They also put themselves at risk in trying not to kill civilians. The Pals intentionally target civilians. The Israelis do not. When was the last time the Israelis blew up a busload of Paqlestinians? They do go after the leaders of Hamas. The Pals have passed up many chances for peace because they prefer killing Israelis. It's as simple as that. When they decide that Israel is here to stay and forswear violence, they can have their state. Until then, fuck 'em.

"No matter; they collapsed early when

Holy crap - what was in the casserole? And can we send some to Palestine? Oh, that's right, they don't have a "state". Who do we thank for that? Oh yeah, he's dead.
