Nothing Tonight

The muse is ill. I'm not writing anything tonight. Part of it is because some of the abject ignorance and stupidity I've read in the comments by people who:

1. Know absolutely nothing about economics.

2. Have displayed their ignorance and stupidity by actually thinking that Kyoto will solve global warming (it won't) and that nations signing on to the treaty will actually be able to meet the standards (they won't).

Also, I feel like crap and I'm going to bed early.

As to your #2:

One of the anecdotally funny things about Kyoto is that France vastly missed their allotted C02 output because--wait for it--there was a longer and colder than expected winter.

Reminds me of Al Gore screaming at the top of his lungs about global warming on the coldest day in recorded history in New York.

The best projections I saw of Kyoto noted that it would reduce the rate of temperature increase, over a century, by ~0.2C. We should dismantle all the 1st world's economies and consign ourselves to technological stagnation (because we all know Europe, Japan, and the US populations despite advancement) so we might, might reduce the rate of growth by less than a degree Fahrenheit.

The Weather Channel and NOAA cannot precisely determine rain amount or duration in my home city 24 hours in the future but I should believe reports projecting the environment 100 years from now...reports from some of the same people who, in the 70's, predicted a coming ice age.

Kyoto is crap science. How much CO2, per day, is Mount St. Helens alone belching forth? And what about the other natural sources, volcanoes, bubbles from underwater, geysers and so on? How does humanity's contribution compare to that? And let's not forget stuff that burns off from carbonaceous chondrite meteorites that hit all 24/7 all over the planet.

Face it, our sun is slightly variable. Things get warmer, then cooler, in a repeating cycle. Warmth melts ice flows, which increases cloud cover, which increases the planet's reflectivity, letting it cool. Cool plus humidity creates snow, which builds up as ice flows, and decreases the cloud cover. It has happened before, and it will happen again. Get used to it, gang!

Draw a money-flow diagram. Who gets money, and/or power, from passing Kyoto? That's who wants it passed, and tells you exactly why they're pushing it.

I have this terrible distrust for the U.N., almost as much as I do for the malignant media. Over the years it has appeared to me that the malignant media defends the U.N.'s actions, even if an obvious scandal is present, the facts never make it to the front page news.

I belive that we as inhabitants of earth, we should do as much as humanly possible to preserve it for future generations. I don't agree with going overboard by imagining apocalyptic visions by incomplete scientific data.

Now since "global warming / Kyoto Protocol" is something the U.N. and the malignant media both agree upon, I figured, like the food for oil program there has to be some money laundering going on.

JUST WHAT IS THE KYOTO TREATY?
Here is a link, read for yourself - but first place your seat in the upright position and have a barf bag handy ...
http://unfccc.int/resource/docs/convkp/kpeng.html

It is a pact agreed on by governments at a United Nations conference in Kyoto, Japan 1997 to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by developed countries by 5.2 percent of 1990 levels during the five-year period 2008-2012.

Hmmmm.... Remember the "Earth Summit" in Rio in 1992, a meeting of the world leaders within a U.N. Framework, A Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Agreeing upon a non-binding goal of stabilizing emissions at 1990 levels by 2000. Although the convention has more than 160 participants, it failed miserably to curb any global increase in emissions.

HOW WILL THE KYOTO TREATY BE ENFORCED? - This is like watching a three card monty game.

If countries emit more gases than allowed under their projected targets at the end of 2012, they will be required to make the cuts, and a percentage shall be added as some kind of punishment.

And.... this is where my head starts to spin because we start talking money, disguised as Trading Permits.

The trading system has allocated permits, the total value of the permits allocated estimate to be around $2 trillion dollars. If you are exceeding your allotted emissions, you can go on the market and buy units from governments that are below theirs. (article 6)

Suddenly, we shift from global warming concerns to paying blackmail for economic growth. If a country grows faster than they predicted and exceed their allocated emissions, they can be charged hundreds of millions of dollars for their economic growth, while countries that suffer recessions can make hundreds of millions selling their unused permits. So, in reality nothing is really being done to control any emissions.

Please correct me if I am wrong. But as I see it, let's say the Russian economy implodes, Russia will have a very large number of permits to sell. The Japanese economy is booming and exceeds their allocated emissions, they need to buy some permits, let's say Russia sells some of their allotted emissions permits. This will pump hundreds of millions of dollars into the Russian economy or worst case politicians pockets. This doesn't do much in reducing greenhouse gases, now does it?

If your economy grows beyond expected, you are punished and have to buy additional permits. If your economy grows at a slower rate than estimated, you are rewarded, you sell permits and make money. But, this achieves no actual reduction of any real greenhouse gas. Sounds like a liberal social experiment, or blackmail. No wonder, GW Bush pulled out of this treaty.

The international community is upset that GW Bush won't allow the USA to be blackmailed for our economic growth or simply put, fund this U.N. money laundering scheme. Such an arrogant cowboy we have placed back in the White House. YaHoo - Giddy Up!!!

Denny,

Scott Ritter reaches the logical endpoint--he writes for and promotes US enemies for a living.
