Here's sumpin' unusual. I do not have anything to write about. This is really unusual for Vodka Denny. Usually when I've had a few I'm ready to rock 'n' roll. I guess I must be bummed about Christina quitting blogging. Yeah, I know, she'll probably be back. Blogging is addictive.
If she doesn't return, I hope she is at least willing to keep up with other bloggers and set up more blogmeets. Nawlins was a blast! What I would like to see is a blogmeet in the following three cities:
1. Charleston, SC - What can I say? Charleston is one of the neatest Southern cities ever. Who knows? My sister might even show up. Then you could meet the brains of the family.
2. Savannah - V- Man this is your job. You did a bangup job in Helen and a super job at Jekyl Island. I know, just like Charleston, I couldn't do much walking, but like Charleston, Savannah has good restaurants and as long as I pace myself like I did in Nawlins, I could survive.
3. San Antonio - Don't know how many of the Georgia bloggers could make it, but maybe I could meet more Texans. Denita, Ironbear, what about it? I've been to San Antonio a few times. A friend of mine got married in a little chapel along the River Walk. Awesome city!
Why not a blog meetup in Atlanta? You would have to talk to Kelley about that. I'm not much in the way of organizing stuff. I was roped into being the president of the Sommelier Guild of Atlanta which means I have to set up 12 tastings a year at various restaurants around Atlanta. The job sucks! There are some fringe benefits and that's the only reason I took on the job. I only have to do it for the next 2 to 3 years. I get to train my replacement. So I'll leave blog meetups to others.
Sorry I cannot address Pierce's e-mail about how China is gonna kick our ass tonight. I will address that bullshit (which is what it is) in the future.
Posted by denny at August 10, 2005 09:55 PMBefore even reading this dumbbell's euro-lunacy, exactly how will China will kick our ass? Will it be war, using technology either: A. Given to them by the traitorous Clinton administration for campaign cash (from traitorous americans who should be shot), or B. Technology stolen from us via espionage. Or will it be economically by having basically slave labor make all the stuff we love to buy as cheap as possible? Either way he's wrong (again). Regardless of what anyone thinks, China needs us way more than we will ever need them (since we have more than enough chinese restaurants). China is also way, way more dependent on oil from the middle-east than we are. This is where the chinese are and will continue to be extremely vunerable.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on August 10, 2005 11:45 PMHey: why not write about the Mom camped outside the Ranch in Crawford, TX?
I think the O'Reilly (et al) comments about her are SHAMEFUL!
Rumor has it that she is to be arrested today for moving from her drainage ditch up to the 'media line' which is perhaps a quarter-mile closer to the Ranch.
Cindy Sheehan.
Her Son, Casey, died in Iraq last year.
Talk-radio advises her to simply 'get over it!'; they say she has no right to ask the likes of the President for any explanation of why her Son died in Iraq because he VOLUNTEERED(!).
Barroom talk here in Lilburn sez she is W's worst nightmare. Talk-radio sez that folks here in the USA die every day; -why should this Mom think she might have a claim on the President's ear?
Request a bit of research on Cindy Sheehan and a comment or a rant as you see fit.
Our family sent dollars for food, water & cell-minutes. Cindy says she is staying until the end of August, she is arrested, or three simple questions are answerd face-to-face:
1) What is the 'Noble Cause' that Americans are asked to die for?
2) How, exactly, do we define the 'mission' as being 'complete'?
3) If the Cause is so Noble & Enobling, why are the Bush twins not signing up to further the Cause?
These are not my questions; only those asked by a Mother who gave a Son. What causes me to write is the utter HYPOCRISY of talk-radio in first asking that folks volunteer and then DISSING them when the obtain a loss! -while not doing a damn thing themselves other than spewing bombast.
Sorta sucks, if you ask me. Makes me wonder who really supports our Troops.
Posted by: Dan S. on August 11, 2005 01:04 AMThe 'Noble Cause' that Americans are asked to die for is to keep the Muslems from getting to YOU to either force YOU into their "religion" of peace, become their slaves or cut off YOUR head.
Simple...

It certainly isn't the Goddamn Left that would prefer to spit on them or turn grieving mothers into political patsy's. The real war is against them as far as I'm concerned.
Posted by: Yosemite Sam on August 11, 2005 08:48 AMFeisty is done, Denny, but I'm ready, willing, and available to host a blogmeet.
; )

After her first visit with W she stated he was compasionate and caring ect..Fast forward to the election she is doing tv spots for Lurch's Moveon.org. Once the story broke about her first meeting going well she now states that she was still in Shock from the loss and wanted to believe The President was bieng nice. I hope her son dont mind having his memory drug through the mud by his mother for polital gains. When signed his name to join he knew the risks and possibility of war.
Btw the other 14 families that met with Bush at the same time, all say the Pres was not Joviel and happy (dont remeber her exact words).
She is just another lieing Dem bitch.
You come to San Antone and you better be-fuggin-LIEVE we'll meet up, hon!! Plus with a little creative ramp-making we could probably put you up for the night in our humble home. Provided you can fit in the restroom...
Hell, even if you can't, there are several great inns in TinyVille. Just say the word and smoked chicken and Kahlua pie are as good as ready!

Posted by: Denita TwoDragons on August 11, 2005 03:29 PMHaven't got the blog going just yet, but working on it. Haven't been to a blog meet either, but from what I read I'd fit right in and have a good time with all of you. My vote: JAMAICA MAHN!!
Posted by: DrugStore Cowboy on August 11, 2005 03:52 PMOh, Charleston would be great, I could actually make it there. Even Savannah would be doable. San Antonio is a bit far -- especially on no income. :( And Jamaica -- oh, I wish.
Being a new blogger, I've of course never been to a blogger get-together. Sounds totally cool, though.
Posted by: JT on August 11, 2005 09:30 PMhey denny, i want to come to all four..they sound great..i live an hour from san antonio so that's convenient..and feisty's is close too, 1/2 an hour..when you comin?
Posted by: shoe on August 11, 2005 10:38 PMshoe - When you and Feisty set it up, I'll be there!
Denita - Do you live in San Antonio? If so, you need to meet Chistina, Susan, Dash, and shoe. They are great folks and don't live very far away.

Posted by: Dan S. on August 11, 2005 11:54 PMI live a bit outside San Antonio, about an hour's drive or less. I've met Dash and yes, he's a gentleman worth his weight in gold! Haven't met the others but there's always a chance! Maybe we can plan something soon, eh?

Posted by: Denita TwoDragons on August 12, 2005 02:33 PMY'all name it, I'm in. Texas, Charleston, wherever. Iffen you guys want me to organize an ATL meet, let me know. I don't have the "gene" that Christina has, but I studiously apply myself...
Also: Denny, from reading the posts above this 'un, it looks like you found a few things to write about!
Posted by: Kelley on August 15, 2005 08:39 PMI see a great contrast between her first comments about her meeting with Bush in her interview on June 24, 2004, that was just several months after her son was killed, and the latest comments she is making about that same meeting with Bush. Cindy Sheehan first said after her meeting with Bush, that she " now knows that Bush is sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqi's." Then she went on to say and I quote, " I know he's sorry and feels pain for our loss." She used two descriptions to describe her impressions of Bush after,Bush's meeting with her, "Sincere" and " He's sorry and feels pain for our loss." Now its quite the opposite description of Bush, if you were to listen to her new interpretation of that same meeting with Bush, you would think it was two seperate meetings. Cindy Sheehan now says about that meeting with Bush that " Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject, and he acted like it was a party." That statement indicates just the opposite of what she originally said about Bush, in that she even used the word "sincere" in describing Bush's demeanor. So I'm to take it that she felt that "acting like it was a party" was sincere, and sincere was as she described Bush in her first interview? The question that now remains concerning her two completely different versions of that meeting with Bush, is, which one is the true story and which one is the lie? In her first interview with David Henson she stated that Bush felt "sorry" about the loss of her son, then Cindy Sheehan turns around and says just the opposite in her interview with Blitzer and I quote " Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died." Excuse me but "sorry" and "happy" are not synonyms Mrs.Sheehan. Cindy Sheehan's versions of that meeting with President Bush just don't match, they are not remotely similar.
