I heard today that some blacks are complaining because there's too many white people volunteering for the Red Cross to help those left homeless by hurricane Katrina. Then that stupid fucking asshole calypso louie said the Red Cross is racist, and must be destroyed, and of course he had all his stooge niggers standing behind him shaking their obviously empty skulls in agreement saying "yes sir...", "yes sir...".

FYI, I'd love to see a break-down by race of which racial group is giving what to the Red Cross. I'd bet my mortgage that blacks are at the bottom of the list.

Rob - They are at the bottom of the list because demographically they are poorer. I would expect that. Of course, the reason demographically, they are poorer is a result of them following false messiahs like Calypso Louie, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton. I know that Denny, but since President Bush took office five years ago, as of last year, which are the last available statistics, only about 12.5% of blacks live below the poverty line (Less than when Clinton was President in his 5th year- it was 13.7% at this same time, but I digress), which means 87.5% are not considered poor (those people probably work for the gummint). Since there's about 13 million blacks in America, that means there's about 11.7 million who are not poor. Those are the ones I'd love to find out about. I think we'd all be extremely disappointed, but not at all surprised. Being that I live in a resort area, and know quite a few people who depend on tips- bartenders, waitpeople, valets, etc., they would rather serve people of any color other than black. Not because of racism, but most blacks are terrible tippers. We had the National Brotherhood of Skiers here at Copper Mountain a couple years ago, and all I heard was they won't tip, or were really cheap about tipping (10% tops, if that), and these obviously weren't poor people.

Pres. Bush's press secretary Scott McClellan should adopt Gen. Honore's line for all the idiotic questions he gets from the libs in the LSM- Just say "You're stuck on stupid...next question"

Yesterday, WSJ front page article reported that 300,000 'Hispanics' from Mex and So. America fled New Orleans during Katrina. Most illegal and not eligible for aide or assistance. Latino network helped eight car caravan get jobs and housing in Nashville, TN. Others have spread out all over the country finding work and housing.

Setting the border situation and illegal immigration aside...I find it interesting these people don't need FEMA, RED CROSS or donations to provide for themselves.

How many did you see at the Superdome or lining up for handouts? Or bitching in front of TV cameras...or looting stores?

In Dallas there have been a lot of news stories about local Black churches and some mostly Black schools helping refugees find homes. These efforts have done pretty well. Very few stories about the refugees themselves tho, I don't know why.

I wonder if the Black groups would help other than Black, may find out if Rita hits Texas hard. We are gearing up here, but a lot of our assets(Red Cross/Salv Army, Natl Guard, power companies) have expended much of their abilities on Katrina, in LA and on refugees in Texas. Our Governor and State and local officials already making plans. If Texas is hit hard I guarantee we will have more like Gen Honore and none of the Nagin/Blanco crap. Houston has a large Black population, but not like New Orleans.

If Rita hits hard many character factors in Texas are different from NO and La. Also, we are generally very well armed here and the police will not desert.

Rob Cooper is actually right, Prosper. Blacks are lousy tippers. So are Mexicans. Many of the white folks will do/say anything it takes to try and scam a free meal. My wife got to experience all of that firsthand working in a Mexican restaurant.

In the Houston area, the refugees are being passed on to Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Astrodome is now empty, and the Reliant Center and George R. Brown Convention Center are being vacated. With Rita bearing down on this section of the state, we may have need of those facilities soon. Plus I think if they were still around when Rita hit and started pulling the same shit they did in Nawlins, the citizens here would put a stop to it. Like TomR said, they're well armed. I figger if the cops don't get them, the locals would.

Working for a local law enforcement agency and being about 2 blocks from the Astrodome, we get regular updates about the crime rates in the surrounding area from HPD and Harris County Sheriff. Surprisingly enough, the amount of PI's increased but the major crime (rape, robbery, etc.) did not increase much at all. We had a few knuckleheads try knocking off some local businesses when they first got here, but were apprehended almost immediately. HPD increased patrols between 6pm and 6am to try to thwart any wrongdoings by our "guests" during the wee hours. Overall I'd say they've behaved themselves, but I don't think the city officials want to press their luck for too long.

Hey Andy, what I read was the guy who cleaned out the lady's house turned out to be from Lewisville,a Dallas suburb, posing as a refugee. And the media said the kid with the gun was also local. One of the rapists was positively a refugee. Our local Red Cross folks were shown on the news being verbally abused in Lafayette, La. trying to help the early refugees(Black)who left in their own autos.

The point of my comment was to show that there has been both good and bad out of the Black aspect of Katrina. And that I expect fewer of the problems to occur here in Texas because the character of the people is different and we will function better at all levels, like Mississippi. Yeah, that is because there are far fewer Blacks proportionately, but that is not meant to be a racist statement as much as a statement of fact. I was pointing out that Black groups here in Dallas actually helped refugees without leaving them only to gubmint programs.

Had the opportunity to work in a predominantly poor black neighborhood today, helping a friend with a rental. As I was backing out his driveway, a woman dashed up and screamed STOP! Thinking I had nearly hit something, I complied. She wanted to bum some smokes, but since I don't smoke, she then wanted to borrow a dollar and get a ride to the store. I turned her down.
My own neighborhood is over 50% black, butI have never seen anyone so brazen as to stop cars and ask for smokes or money. Dave said that people walk in sevral times a day and want to borrow money.

BATON ROUGE, La. - Police found cases of food, clothing and tools intended for hurricane victims at the home of the chief administrative officer for a New Orleans suburb, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers searched Cedric Floyd's home because of complaints that city workers were helping themselves to donations for hurricane victims. Floyd, who runs the day-to-day operations in the suburb of Kenner, was in charge of distributing the goods.

Police plan to seek a charge of committing an illegal act as a public official against Floyd, and more charges against other city workers are possible, police Capt. Steve Caraway said.

The donations filled a large pickup truck four times. "It was an awful lot of stuff," Caraway said.

The donated materials must be processed as evidence but eventually will be distributed to victims. "We have lots of families that are begging for these supplies," said Attorney General Charles Foti, whose office assisted in the investigation.

Attempts to reach Floyd were unsuccessful at home numbers listed under his name in Kenner. His office number went unanswered after business hours.
