Ryan's Little Helper

Yesterday Ryan was putting felt tabs on the bottom of my dining room chairs. Ashley decided to help him. These were taken with Ryan's new camera.

Yeah. I know. She's a little porker, but she was a research cat that was gonna be put to sleep seven years ago. She was such a lovable little girl that the research people wanted to find a home for her. I was looking for a girl cat. Voila! She's been with me for seven years. every additional day she lives is a bonus.

Actually the human in the picture is my sister.

Several years ago I got a call on a Saturday afternoon from a lady who had a cat stuck up in a tree. It was also a research animal rescue. She had called the fire department, and they told her to just wait it out.
I have an aerial ladder that I use for service work on my rental houses, and she got my number from a friend.
I agree with the Fire Chiefs statement that you never see cat skeletons in trees, but went to help anyway.
The cat was high up. My truck reaches 30 feet, and I had an additional ladder that I stood in the bucket that reached an additional 32 feet. After that I climbed about another 20, then used a homemade snare to snag the cat. The cats collar was one of those with a band arround the chest as well, and a "handle" in between. The "handle" was snagged on a dead branch.
The lady though her cat was just too dumb to climb back down.
Yes Denny, Ashley is a porker. So is my Shelby. Thats just more heat blanket for those cold winter nights.
So much for my research animal story.

Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving! Wish we could borrow you to play guitar and sing for us :-)

The cat we had before our present one lived to be 21, so yours may be around a good long time yet.

I like your cat. Don't try to feed her any yams - she's been through enough. She might appreciate some turkey, though.

Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you recover soon from the injuries your sister will doubtless inflict when she realizes you only shot her photo from the waist down.
