Ok. I finally watched it. Wasn't a great speech, but what do you really expect from Bush making a SOTU speech. The man is not an orator.
I really enjoyed the fact that I didn't see annual aisle bird, Cynthia McCommie, on an aisle seat. I posted why a few posts earlier.
I liked one suggestion that Bush made: The line item veto. Congress cannot seem to fix the problem of earmarks. For the people who say that this gives the executive branch the power of the purse, I call bullshit! If the Congress cannot vote with a 2/3 majority for any line item in the budget, it doesn't deserve to be there.
What pissed me off when Bush was talking about energy alternatives is that he didn't bring up Moon power. Didn't he get a copy of that Fax From Babs?
I just love it when the camera catches Hillary with a fake smile or robotic clapping. She wasn't really having a very good time was she? Come to think of it, there weren't too many happy Dimocrats in the chamber. Did my heart good to watch those losers seeth. Just like Mooselimbs seething over cartoons.
Yay! The Dimocrats showed their true colors! They are the obstructionist party. When Bush said his Social Security plan failed, the Dimocrats cheered. Yep! Social Security is broke and let's keep it that way. Here's the Dimocrat Party platform: Whatever the Republicans are for, we're against, unless, of course we represent red states and polls show that maybe we shouldn't be against it, especially if we're up for election this year. Is it any surprise that the four Dimocrat senators who voted for Alito are from red states? This is what Stumpy Cleland didn't realize. If you are from a red state don't vote like a liberal in an election year.
Dear Dimocrat Party. This next election, run on your core beliefs: High taxes, more regulation, anti-military, socializied medicine, and abortion on demand. You'll win in a landslide.
Trust me.

I drink to dat! The look on Sillary's face made my night! That bitch looked like she was ready to pump Bill in the pooper for another 8 (horrible) years!
Posted by: CharlieDelta on February 2, 2006 11:43 PMWhoa, Denny, she was there...In the usual place.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on February 3, 2006 01:28 AMMy mistake...must have Jerkson-Lee I saw.
yeah, i thought the way the democrats acted about defeating social security was deplorable. who could vote for that?
and did you catch hilary's heinous expression when bush made the joke about he and clinton turning 60? i know she'll run and get votes, it's just shocking to me, though
Posted by: shoe on February 3, 2006 08:59 AMSo what was up with the Dem response guy. He had the eye brow twitch and all the pregnant pauses after every couple of words. He did not read too well. You would have thought they would oof had him practicing with the teleprompter. I really would have liked to see the drunken murder do the respones as Teddy makes great television.
I would have like to seen more and a better plan on border security, in AZ we have a expressway from mexico to our state. I drive by one of the corners the "Day Laborers" hang out. There is usually 50 or 60 there.
Posted by: Greg Dicroce on February 3, 2006 09:18 AMWhat's wrong with the President holding the purse strings. Has Congress ever take responsibility for the deficit? Shit no!!!!
Posted by: Al Bee on February 3, 2006 01:12 PMI don't understand why everyone gives Bush a hard time about not being a good orator.
I think he's great. He stumbles over a few words and will never even attempt to pronounce "nuclear" correctly, telling me that he is human. In fact, he speaks in earnest, with a true warmth that the smarmy governor from Virginia will never know. Regarding the latter... That patronizing asshole should be selling zirconia encrusted caskets to the blue haired, not running a state.
I'm with Key...
I'm such a Bush cheerleader, I don't find too much wrong with the guy.
Having Alito sitting there is his robe made my night!

I loved Alito-he had a wow look around at the joint...made me grin.
Gotta go with the Big Den on his comments. Bush is one fine dude, but his syntax is sucky. I do three things on speeches, listen to the thing, and then watch it. And third, I'm a geek who saves them and reads them as well...
Demodopes:Bad Form
Wow, thanks for the reminding me of what a bunch of idiots we are in the Blue states: I can't believe we fought a war 150 years ago to keep such appalling white trash a part of our country.
Should the South ever care to rise again, I'm standing shoulder to shoulder with you and will gladly fight to get you the fuck out of our fine nation. I’ve gone to war once for oil (Iraq, v.2, as a Marine no less) and will gladly take up arms again, this time for a worthy cause.
