Cowboy boots, protect the lrgs from the dirt and brush and keep the rider's foot from becoming stuck in the stirup.
But the high tops also hold the sheep's hind legs.

I should point out that this is an Australian wedding - hence the can of Castlemaine XXXX, the black singlet and the corks in the hat to keep flies away...
