The Braves won and took two out of three from the Mets in New York. Glavine lost. Heh. Heh. Heh. Good luck getting to 300 wins Tommy, you whining bastard. You should have stayed with the Braves asshole!

The Braves are still 3 games back of the clearly superior Mets.
Good luck getting to 300 wins Tommy, you whining bastard.
He's at 277 wins, so 300 is in the bag, particularly the way he's pitching. He'll hit 300 by midseason next year.
You should have stayed with the Braves asshole!
I thought you believed in capitalism. The Mets offered more money, so he took it. If the Braves wanted to keep him, they should have coughed up the dough. Money talks and bullshit walks.
Posted by: Marcus on April 19, 2006 09:02 PMThe mets will trade him back to the braves when his contract runs out. He will get the 300 win in Atlanta. But yes, he is still a fucking cry baby.
Posted by: Catfish on April 19, 2006 09:09 PMMarcus - The Braves matched the Mets' offer. Glavine is at the end of his career. He'll never make 300 wins. Especially with the Mets. The Mets were supposed to be superior last year. Where did they finish? They were supposed to be superior year before last. Where did they finish? Remember, the Braves start off slow every year and in the middle of the season get hot. The Mets will finish second or third this year. Losers.
Cat - Glavine will never pitch for Atlanta again. He lost his shot for 300 wins. I agree. He's a fucking crybaby.
Posted by: Denny on April 19, 2006 09:48 PMYo, Marcus-
The metsy's aren't diddly-poo until they win the season series or, GOD FORBID, actually make it to October and beat the Bravos then, over-paid roster aside.
Wake up and suck it,little man.
Marcus - The Braves matched the Mets' offer.
Yeah, and he chose who he wanted to play for. That freedom is part of what makes America great.
Glavine is at the end of his career. He'll never make 300 wins.
He's still pitching very well and doesn't appear to be slowing down. 3.60 ERA in 2004. 3.53 ERA in 2005. And he's starting out even better than that this year. Doesn't look like he's quite at the end of his career. I know you're pissed at the guy, but there is no logical argument to support the contention that he won't make it to 300 wins next year.
Mets were supposed to be superior last year. Where did they finish? They were supposed to be superior year before last. Where did they finish? Remember, the Braves start off slow every year and in the middle of the season get hot.
What happened in prior years doesn't necessarily have a great deal to do with how things will be this year. This isn't the old days when a team doesn't change much from year to year. The Mets made a lot of additions and those moves have made the team better. The bottom line is that the Mets have better pitching AND better hitting. It will be a race, but the Braves will finish second.
Posted by: Marcus on April 19, 2006 10:05 PMDude - The Mets made a lot of additions two years ago. What did it get them? The Mets made a lot of additions last year. What did it get them? The Mets' payroll has exceeded the Braves for the last three years. Compare the records. Glavine fucked up. He would have had more wins had he stayed with the Braves. Fuck him. He's a crybaby and will never got 300 wins. Check back after another 150 games and lets see who's in first place. BTW, Glavine can't pitch after August. That's one of the reasons the Braves didn't outbid the Mets.
Posted by: Denny on April 19, 2006 10:45 PMDude - The Mets made a lot of additions two years ago. What did it get them?
5 more wins (from 66 to 71)
The Mets made a lot of additions last year. What did it get them?
12 more wins (from 71 to 83)
The Mets' payroll has exceeded the Braves for the last three years. Compare the records.
I give the Braves great credit for all they have done. But the Mets have spent the money to get better year after year. They keep making acquisitions and getting better. The Braves have basically been spinning their wheels. Eventually the bill comes due.
BTW, Glavine can't pitch after August.
Oh really? He sure pitched pretty well last year after August.
September 2005
6 Starts
47.1 innings pitched
1.71 ERA
Great post Denny! And a big Amen to" Tommy the whiney ass!" Words well written. Now if we could get certain whiney ass Braves to buck it up and play ball, we should be set. The Braves have always started out poor and then end up winning the division. I am not worried in the least.
Posted by: Teresa on April 19, 2006 11:40 PMWasn't last year the only year Glavine had a winning record with the Mets? He hasn't pitched in the playoffs since he left the Braves. He made his decision all right. I guess he prefers to watch the playoffs on television rather than actually playing in them. And I still don't think Glavine will get 300 wins.
What I was talking about is that the Mets were supposed to win the division three years ago. Glavine was one of the "missing pieces'. They didn't come close. Two years ago, they were supposed to win the division. Nope. Last year it was Philadelphia. Nope. Now this year. Talk to me when the season is over. I didn't think that the Braves would win last year either. If "spinning their wheels" is winning 14 division championships in a row, keep 'em spinning! They don't need to spend a lot of money on free agents because they grow their own talent with their farm system which is the best in baseball. They played 18 rookies last season and many of them are getting better. Now if the Braves would only learn how to do well in the playoffs.
Posted by: Denny on April 20, 2006 11:14 AMSeemed obvious to me that whiny boy Tom was concerned about getting into the Hall of Fame - and thought he's have a better shot with the New York writers behind him.
He'll get to 300 eventually - someone will give him a chance. Look at the last three or four miserable seasons in Early Wynn's career. He was stuck at 299 for what seemed like forever. Signed with the Indians in 1963 and lost two games before finally winning 300 and retiring.
Posted by: Juan Paxety on April 20, 2006 01:31 PMWell,if this isn't cute... EVERYONE knows the 'Nats will take it all this year........
