Prosper-
Is that your definition of being a 'sponsor'? If that's the case, I'll pass...

Posted by: CharlieDelta on August 1, 2006 01:28 AM

Shame they're pommies though isn't it.

Posted by: Murray on August 1, 2006 01:59 AM

That's not us : our snipers are training with a target behind them, and of course they're running...

Posted by: vicki on August 1, 2006 01:25 PM

Thats why I said they're pommies Eric.

Posted by: Murray on August 1, 2006 08:18 PM

Murray, most Murcans don't know what a pom, or even a pommie, is.

Posted by: Squidley on August 1, 2006 11:14 PM

Ya now, this one is just too easy...sorta like shootin fish in a barrel.

Oh ok, Queens English lesson then.

Pommie or pom = English person.

Common conjunctions are;

"whinging pom" esp in Oz where the English have a reputation for complaining about everything and keep saying how great England is yet strangly don't feel it's great enough to actually live there.

"Pommy bastards" Expression became common amongst NZ troops in North Africa where the Div suffered from some realy unimpressive support in some key engagements leading to the NZ Div eventually rearming as a mech/inf div so that they would at least be able to provide their own support while the Brits were taking a tea break. Google "Minqar Qaim" where the entire Div was forgotten about and left behind and "Ruweisat Ridge" where the pom armour took a holiday while the 21st panzer played run over the colonial all over the NZ position.

Expresion is claimed to be derived from the letters "POME" reputedly stands for Prisoner of Mother England. Apparently meaning the "colonists" of Australia who didn't actually represent Britains finest citizens.

The common expresion down this way being Aussies were sent, Kiwis came.

Used in a sentance: "Shut your whinging your short armed deep pocketed pommie bastard and buy a round."

Please feel free to use at will and assist in growing a common Anglo language we can all share.

Murray, didn't you know that "England and America are two countries divided by a common language"? All the more so with Oz and Kiwiland.

Bringing people together, it's what we're all about down here.

I like to feel my own site has contributed greatly to the correct use of the word "wanker" by many Americans helping to make the failure of Kerry as much fun as possible on both sides of the pond without recourse to mid-Atlantic translation.

Tomorrow I will be holding a three hour lecture on why what you think is a "kiwi" is in fact a Chinese gooseberry and you're all victims of a disturbingly succesful marketing campign by the NZ Apple & Pear Marketing board. Snacks will be provided but please don't eat the kiwi's... well not in that way anyway.

I'm sure it will be standing room only.
