Seems there is no way to help anyone these days with the slime balls that race in to suck up the money.

I keep my donations inside the US and to charities where the folks who run them don't make a lot of money. One of the charities I give to is the Salvation Army.

My charities are Soldiers Angels, Valor-IT and Defend the Defenders. Come to think of it, that's where my political contriubtions go also.
Beyond that the rest can all go Foley themselves.

My name is Jeffery and I am an Infantry Platoon Commander assigned to 1st Battalion 1st Marines. We just returned from Iraq and during our deployment I was wounded in action by an IED in July. Since our return I have had several appointments with various specialists to treat my injuries from the attack. Of note and the center of this email is the fact I received a head injury and have been suffering from memory loss and it has been very frustrating for myself, my family and friends. Recently while I was at the Brain Injury Clinic in Balboa Naval Hospital, I was given a bag from the Warrior Foundation. It contained a Sure Fire Hat and a Palm Pilot Z22 Handheld. I quit donating to organized charities long ago. Only time I'll actually give money now is if I could see and shake hands with the guy getting it, like some poor bastard whose house got flooded in a hurricane or roof got ripped off by a tornado or only means of transportation got wasted through no fault of his own.

We tend to go with pragmatic stuff, like tools or clothes or canned food or gasoline or batteries and such.

Wife goes to the Commissary and buys two sets of groceries for feast days (Thanksgiving, New Years, etc.). Cooks one for us and finds some family with a buncha kids and no income and leaves the other one on their porch or in their car.

When we replace our blankets or work clothes or such and no disaster victims are available, we put 'em in boxes and I leave 'em on the stoop of a small, local, black church. That way I know they get to somebody who can actually use 'em.

All grandkritter toys that still work but have outlived their usefulness, I drop off by the low-income housing by the Navy Hospital when I go for my daily bike ride.

Get the stuff directly into the hands of the people who need it, not the corporate offices and other parasites and dictators. Also like to take a coupla big ol' bags of dry food to the animal shelter from time to time.

I do hafta give the Red Cross (grudgingly) credit for their work here in Pensacola after hurricane Ivan a coupla years ago. Johnny on the spot with food, water, ice, transportation, and moral support. Helluva lift for people who had no roofs, no power, and no prospects for weeks and weeks.

Last year riots in France had nothing to do with religion, only a few violent suburb gangs which disagreed with the fact police was looking to closely at their own bizness. I know that a lot of people believe that the rioting had "nothing to do with Islam." If the riots are looked at as an isolated incident, without context, that might even be a reasonable interpretation. But here's a question for you: how many non-Moslems were rioting?

You have to look at the big picture. You have to see how Moslems are trying to force their values and practices on non-Islamic societies, not just in France, but throughout Europe and North America. They know they cannot defeat us militarily, so you have to look at how they are subverting us from the inside.

Even if most Moslems are obeying the laws, even if most Moslems pose no threat of violence, you have to understand that the mere presence of Moslems in the West is damaging to our societies and cultures. Why? Because "regular" Moslems, even if they do not support terroristic violence, still support the goals of the terrorists: a world-wide caliphate. The regular Moslems have had chance after chance after chance to repudiate the violence of the terrorists, but they never come out to protest against what their co-religionists are doing.

Doubt me? OK. Read the Koran and read up on Islamic history, then, using examples from both, prove me wrong.
