In Re: Smith & Wesson:
Gene Autry’s Saturday matinee said it all for me.
"Saddle Pal's" like me wanted to be just like their hero.
Gene responded with the Cowboy Code, sometimes known as the "Cowboy Commandments".
They are as relevant here today as regards this topic as they were 0-so-many Saturday's ago.
Consider:
1. The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage.
2. He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him.
3. He must always tell the truth.
4. He must be gentle with children, the elderly, and animals.
5. He must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas.
6. He must help people in distress.
7. He must be a good worker.
8. He must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action, and personal habits.
9. He must respect women, parents, and his nation's laws.
10. The Cowboy is a patriot.
Good Post DanS. Is it true that he really said that in his shows? Your dating me somewhat. If so, then when Bush is called a cowboy like so many critics like to do, he should take that as a compliment and show this list to them. Would kind of shut them up quickly I would say.

Thanks!
I would agree with you on what you propose.
I think, perhaps, our Cowboy-in-Chief might possibly be on the far-side of the range-fence of Cowboy Commandments 1,2,3, possibly 5, and the last part of 9.
Yes, Gene Autry in the middle-late '50's did indeed sign-off with the 'Cowboy Way'.
Posted by: DanS. on November 23, 2006 08:41 PMCongrats, DanS! You finally posted something on topic that made sense! Keep up the good work, dude!
Posted by: Rob Cooper on November 24, 2006 05:42 PMI hope the Ditzey Twits get some firearms and take themselves out. I am sick of watching them cry on tv.
Posted by: fading fast on November 25, 2006 12:18 AMDanS.,
You're making up #5. That is not anything that people said or thought in the '50s.
#7 is a little suspect, too.
