Birthday Present

When I was still working, my friend Cindy used to knit me a sweater for my birthday. I posted pictures of them here, here here, here, here, here, here, and here. Talented, isn't she. The first two she knitted for me, I've outgrown. My shoulders got too big. She altered one of them and gave it to my sister. They were Irish fishermen sweaters. One was all white and the other was all powder blue.

This year, rather than knitting me a sweater, she knitted me a rug to put under the coffee table in my living room. First some background.

When I first moved into GOC Central she offered to make me some cornice boards for my windows in the great room. I selected the material (which she didn't like) and she made the cornice boards for me. Here is one of them.

She also made me matching pillows for the sofa and loveseat.

Her challenge was to match those colors in the rug. Here are two pictures of the rug.

Scooter likes the rug.

So does Ashley.

Update: Holy crap! I just realized that I must be channeling Christina with this home stuff. They're coming to install my new kitchen floor (I went with marble) next week, so the following week there will be before and after pictures. Woo hoo!

Cindy does some awesome work!

I take it your critters don't shred new things to pieces like mine do huh, Denny? Those pillows would've already been covered in hair, and the rug would be the new scratching post until something newer came along. Where's that damn squirt bottle again?

Beautiful rug. Nice cats. I miss my cat. Would you bring your to PTC, maybe? We have rugs...

My twin brother gets me a sweater every year on our birthday. I've asked him for a screamer or a moaner, but always a damned sweater.

I think the important issue here is, what the hell are my cats doing at your place?

The similarity is just freaky.

Wow. Those are nice. I don't suppose she'd be willing to make a few of those pillows for me....

CD - Both cats are declawed. All they do is puke on stuff. Scooter has already puked on the rug three times.

Murray - Take a good look at Ashley. That is a very unusual color. Don't see that too often. She was a research cat at University of Georgia. They are bred special. Normally they are euthanized after their project is completed, but she was so sweet the researchers found her a good home. That's how I got her.

It's tricky to tell the colour from the picture but she has the same face as my 16 year old Jess and they're sitting in the same way as my pair.

Oooohhh! Kitty cats!

Cindy is very talented. That's some beautiful work she's done.

Damn, Denny, your honing in on my territory...

; )

Lord only knows what I'll blog about when we finally get in the house.

I guess it'll be time for a blogmeet.

Oh, yeah!

Christina - Oh yeah! Looking forward to it.

Posted by: Murray on December 8, 2006 02:04 PM

She was a research cat at University of Georgia.

That must explain its radioactive laser eyes on the last picture... An X-pet !!

Who is your cleaning lady? Your house doesnt look lived in....(mine on the other hand, looks not only lived in, but abused)

Posted by: Ruth on December 12, 2006 07:11 PM

Ruth - It's a big house and I only post the good looking rooms. My music room is currently trashed.
