Melissa sent me this.

Now where is that Aflac duck?
But we still have those freaking cavemen, and ABC is gonna give them a series.
Posted by denny at March 12, 2007 02:27 PMA series for those dumbass cavemen? I hate those guys!
Well, that's just another reason not to watch ABC. (as if I needed any more reason)
Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 12, 2007 02:50 PMAwe come on CD, how can you not like "yeah, walking upright, inventing the wheel, discovering fire, sorry we didn't get back to you on that". PRICELESS. A serie, no F'ing way, but as far as commercials, they are gold. Now that God damn gecko drives me crazy, so I like the above picture.
I agree Ray- I think the GEICO cavemen commercials are great, and funny- But whoever came up with those GEICO "real people" ads with has-been actors, singers, etc. should be fired. Those commercials SUCK!!!
Posted by: Rob Cooper on March 12, 2007 04:05 PMFYI Denny, you already posted this pic on GOC Feb. 27th, 2005... : )
Posted by: Rob Cooper on March 12, 2007 04:49 PMHoly crap Rob! You must have an astounding memory! Mine is slowly fading away.
Posted by: Denny on March 12, 2007 04:56 PMAw, come on CharlieDelta. The caveman is a metaphor for every high-estrogen liberal/progressive/dimocrat
dork who ever had to get into therapy because their feelings were "bruised" by someone expressing an honest opinion.
Okay Ol' Lurker. When you put it that way, it's actually pretty damn funny.
Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 12, 2007 06:53 PMThe geico wouldn't be too bad if it didn't have a damn British accent. But I do have a mute button. The AFLAC Duck was good with Yogi though.
Posted by: gene Hall on March 12, 2007 07:30 PMGene - That's actually an Australian accent. And I actually enjoy the Aflac duck. The cavemen suck as do the substitute announcers. BTW, I am a GEICO customer.
Posted by: Denny on March 12, 2007 08:08 PMYa The Duck and Yogi commercials where great....you know I really like them.
Posted by: Bill on March 12, 2007 09:43 PMI tried the AFLAC duck, and a bottle of red wine. Memory is a bit hazy, but I think it was a little burn't.
My only problem with the cavemen comercials is the years I've spent being equated with the missing link. Now every time one of those damn comercials is on, some one calls me and says, "HEY JERRY, your family is on the tube again."
Missing link MY ASS! I've never been missing, despite the dreams of many. Insane Jane especially.
I was not a reader during the "insane jane" days. Guess I missed out on some good stuff.
Denny- I don't consider my memory good, much less astounding. I just remember the most inane (useless) stuff...like every phone number I've ever had, and phone numbers and addresses of friends also.
Guess that's why I won the Trivial Pursuit contest for IL, IN, WI, IA, and MI. in 1987, and also the team contest, 3 of us. I can remember a lot of really stupid stuff, lol.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on March 13, 2007 04:41 AMRob Cooper........
Trivial Pursuit , now that brings back some fond memories. Back in 1989 I was on a series of business trips to a company in Olathe Kansas. We had accomodations at a Holiday Inn recently built in the middle of a corn field, didn`t matter what window you looked out of , all you saw was corn.
Every evening at 7:00 trivial pursuit questions were presented in the lounge with individual winners presented with a refill of whatever they were currently drinking.I do not know why so many people knew so little but I cleaned house on Corona almost every night.
Posted by: dudley1 on March 13, 2007 09:27 AMThe only washed up actor commercial I liked was the one with Charro in it... go figure, but I do like the caveman deals. Especially when he's shootin' down his shrink. Kind of reminds me of the Soprano's in a weird way... Also, "Someone got up on the wrong side of the rock"... I can relate.
Commecials.....
I had to think about it for a bit because I usually switch channels when any commecial comes on.
The ones I immediately switch off are;
1.The cavemen.....absolutely putrid!
2.Geico real people.....hawk up a green slider for these.
3. The asshole who tries to look like McCoy on loan from "Law & Order" & asks about refinancing........This really sucks
4.The gecko....Hmmmnnnnn, SoSo!
The one I tolerate is the Aflac duck.
I wonder just who really pays any attention to the damn commercials anyway.
I actually like the "Hi, I'm a Mac... and I'm a PC" series. Rather clever. Other than that, comercials have shown very little creativity lately.
I hope ABC does go ahead with the caveman series - they'll flush a lot of money on a really innane concept. Might get someone axed.
I have always felt that the Gekko commercials were lame. The Caveman bits are are a bit better. Who knew that you could offend cavemen? As for the washed up actors: Priceless. I will admit the the the anouncer guy is pretty weak, but Peter Graves's "so I put on some tangerine lip gloss and answerd the door". And with a straight face. I would never buy the product but they are entertainig none the less. There are lots of truly irritating offerings out there as we all know.
Posted by: Roger on March 13, 2007 04:36 PMFrom reading the comments above, I would gues many of you must have woke up on the wrong side of the rock this morning.
Posted by: Wm H on March 13, 2007 05:47 PMOddly enough I heard just the other day that the Aflac duck is going to be dropped. It seems everyone remembers the duck and no one remembers the product. Go figure.
On the Geico commercials - hate the gekko. The one with Peter Graves is hilarious. The cavemen ones are so-so.
The cavemen earn a sneaky grin, the duck sometimes gets a 'Heh'. The gekko - yawn.
I really miss the Budweiser frogs.
