Ron sent me this interesting straw poll.
C'mon Fred! Throw your hat into the ring and start fundraising!
Yea, c'mon Fred!!
Posted by: Alan on March 27, 2007 02:23 PMThompson/Tancredo or Thompson/Giuliani appear to be most likely to me at this time.
Posted by: dudley1 on March 27, 2007 03:18 PMI don't understand the "unacceptable" column. Unacceptable compared to who???
Are they so unacceptable there's no way you'd ever vote for them?
Compared to Shrillary or any of the lib wanna-be Presidents I'd take any of the GOP candidates over them, even McCain. It's a no-brainer...
Posted by: Rob Cooper on March 27, 2007 04:28 PMThompson/Santorum that's the ticket
Posted by: kerrcarto on March 27, 2007 05:21 PMI'd love to see a Thompson/Steele ticket. That's a ticket that could clean house!
Posted by: WarWagon on March 27, 2007 05:40 PMNewtie time!!!
Posted by: vetfromhell on March 27, 2007 05:51 PMRob - If McCain got the nomination I would have to stay home or pull the lever for the Libertarian candidate.
Posted by: Denny on March 27, 2007 06:29 PMNo Denny
Hillary, Obama, McCain.
Just one extra sip of fine wine and you will come around. Think about that weasley little Texan that cost us 8 years of Clinton. We can never let that happen again.
I'm for Rudy. I like him. I'm reading the "Leadership" book right now, and I think he is a top notch American. Let's face it, he's the only one who can beat Hillary or Obama.
Posted by: Paul on March 27, 2007 07:36 PMPaul - Did you hear Rudy on Hannity last Thursday? He's my number 2 right after Thompson.
Sorry Chuck. I just could not pull the lever for McCain.
Posted by: Denny on March 27, 2007 07:45 PMGiuliani is a cross-dressing, gay-pride marching, mother-of-his-children humiliating, religion-of-"peace" embracing, pro-gun controlling, open-borders liberal. He's as conservative as a purple mohawk. I'd rather have Hillary because she's so far out there that few of her destructive policies would get passed. On the other hand, Giuliani would, like W, fool the Republicans and do huge damage to this country.
Giuliani's immoral personal conduct disqualifies him from the presidency. The only RINO worse than Giuliani is Moonbat McCain.
You want someone who's going to protect the borders from the Mexicans, Moslems, and others who don't belong here? You want someone who's a decent, Christian family man? You want someone who's against the travesty that is Affirmative Action? Go Tancredo!
Posted by: Squidley on March 27, 2007 08:02 PMI almost always agree with the "Squid" but as much as I like Tancredos policy on immigration I don't think he has any idea of being president. He will purposefully bring out immigration policies
to the forefront and get clarification from the weak-kneed RHINOS such as McCain and the Mayor. If people remember, I was the first on this blog to declare myself a Fred-Head. Go Fred, go!
But Squidley, how do you really feel about Giuliani? Fred for prez - Newt for veep! RUN FREDDY RUN!
Posted by: jim on March 27, 2007 08:43 PMVetfromhell, I like Newt too, but he doesn't have a chance of being elected. Think about it.
Posted by: Alan on March 27, 2007 08:55 PMDenny, I did hear Rudy on Hannity last week, and I was impressed, provided that he meant everything he said. But I don't think Fred Thompson can beat the Dems. Rudy has more national exposure than Fred Thompson does, is less ugly, and represents New York (beats Hillary). So I think it would be a mistake if the Republican Party played the Thompson hand.
Posted by: Paul on March 27, 2007 09:38 PMSquidley, you are wrong.
I didn't think I would ever find myself saying something like that to Squidley.
Posted by: Paul on March 27, 2007 09:39 PMPaul I have to disagree strongly. Fred could beat the democrats easily. Think about it. Most democrat/liberal voters are stupid, sheep led to the slaughter sort of folks. The Repubs would vote for him because he's one of us and represents what we want and what is good and righteous for our country. The large majority of Dems/libs/pacifists (they are all the same) would vote for him because of this reason alone (we saw him on TV and liked him). That's the way they think. That's why "the terminator" won in the liberal republic of Mexifornia and that's why Fred would do more than win, he'd landslide. Unless he has some ugly skeleton hiding somewhere that we'd find out about (like gay sex with Jerry Orbach or something like that).
I want to see a series of debates between Thompson and the Breck Boy. The contrast should guarantte Fred the White House. Now if we can only get conservative independant's to take control of both houses of congress. The Dumbocrats are a buch of queer commies and the Repukes got their last dime out of me a few years ago. In my lifetime I've been betrayed by both major parties.
Posted by: Ric on March 28, 2007 10:14 AMFred Thompson......
If he does run & were to win the nomination......When people seen him & listened to him in a debate, his speaking ability & honest forthright manner would steamroller any leftwing liberal especially Hillary.
If John McCain wins the nomination....I would have to vote for him as much as I detest his ideas just because the alternative is so damn unacceptable.
I would like to see Rick Santorum back in National politic`s, I thought he was doing a very good job. to bad my fellow Pennsylvanians were so shortsighted.
Posted by: dudley1 on March 28, 2007 12:18 PMPaul,
Would you care to elaborate? You made a statement but no argument.
Giuliani wore women's clothing in public on multiple occasions--Donald Trump even kissed his breast once--and marched in homosexual pride parades; these parades included representatives of NAMBLA, a pro-child-molestation group. He is an adulterer, and publically attacked and humiliated the mother of his children. He is estranged from both his children. He turned NYC into a "safe haven" for illegal aliens. He is in favor of gun control. He is an open-borders ideologue. Do you dispute any of these facts?
In his first inaugural address, George Washington said, "...the foundations of our National policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality." Giuliani's "private morality" is a festering, pus-filled chancre on the keister of the nation. No one of such lax, liberal, and low moral standards is qualified to be president of this country.
Similarly, Gingrich, with his three wives--one of whom he dumped while she was hospitalized for cancer (IIRC)--is no more morally fit to be president than either Clinton.
We have already seen the once-exaulted office of POTUS dragged through the muck of trailer trash with Slick Willie. If the Republicans back an immoral, unethical candidate, it will take a generation for our country to recover--if it ever does.
Having said that, I understand the appeal of Giuliani. We thirst for a strong leader, someone with a track record of action and results. Giuliani accomplished many good things while mayor, but his negatives far outweigh his positives.
Posted by: Squidley on March 28, 2007 01:10 PMBTW, I've recently read more about Fred Thompson. He could be a real contender, and might be the best antidote to a Hillary the Harpie/Obama Hates Whitey ticket.
(Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., son of an Islamic polygamist, is a member of an anti-white church. It's a "Christian" version of the Nation of Islam claptrap. More on B. Hussein Obama's self-loathing anti-white mentality here.)
Posted by: Squidley on March 29, 2007 03:16 AMI have to agree with Squidley. Giuliani is unacceptable to me just on Second Amendment grounds and all of the other stuff is even more fuel for the fire. Thompson has the credentials and the charisma to be a serious challenge to any lib they put up. Tancredo may be even better on core issues but at this time doesn't have the national appeal. That can change in a hurry, though and it IS early.
