Another one from Cal. This goes along with my Saturday guitar stuff.

Truer words were never spoken (written).
Of course, I would see this post first thing after getting home from a community dance band concert where I fluffed way too many notes in some pretty straight-ahead standards charts.
Long tones, long tones...ya just gotta make time for them if you're a brass player...

No matter what you play, ya gotta make time for practice. I don't know anything about brass, but I know that if I don't spend 15 minutes a night on anything I'm going to suck at it!
I do alittle bit of everything pretty well, I'm a gemini! I was gonna put up a fence in the back yard to keep the kids from cutting across, but I've always wanted to do beekeeping. I'm looking into that for the summer. I make my own cashew butter, why not my own honey? Plus, I love the idea of tramping around in the yard with a big hazmat suit on. Evil giggles. I have 150 guys on the USS City of Corpus Christi who will help me eat the honey, and I could by-pass the city permit for getting a fence.
Being evil is fun.
I'm a Gemini too. Both of my personalities say hello!
Posted by: vetfromhell on April 22, 2007 01:13 PMSo why does the garage band that lives down the street from us, who practices for 4-5 hours every single damned afternoon of the week never get any better?
Oh wait, I remember, it's not practice that makes perfect, its perfect practice that makes perfect.
These guys just practice making noise, so that is what their music sounds like - noise.
PS I played saxophone for over 10 years and listen to and love a wide variety of music but what these guys are making ain't music. On the plus side they do seem to have stopped all the neighborhood dogs from barking all the time....
