Cal's Posters 1

I created a monster! I pointed Cal to the site where he could make his own motivational posters and he made a bunch of them and sent them to me.

Just looking at that child being educated, I can hear arteries bursting in liberal heads from here. It gives me a warm, snuggly feeling.

My 8 year old son is a crack shot with his Winchester single shot
bolt action .22. My dad passed it down to me and I to my son. The turtles in the river behind dad's house live in fear of him. He can take them out easily at 30yds+. That boy makes me proud. He took to it like a duck to water. And Yes, I have taught him you never point a gun at anything you do not mean to destroy, and now he knows why.

Educating Children to respect, shoot & enjoy guns

Amen, My son who is now 37 has been shooting since the age of 6 & hunting since the age of 12.He as am I a life member of the NRA.

MY grandsons are coming along fine, they all started shooting at the age of 6, the oldest three are hunting & the youngest is looking forward to Hunter safety training. The oldest age 15 is a double 'AA" trapshooter ...48 out of 50 targets, beats me most of the time, has a room full of trophies & plaques, the next age 14 is a 'D" class trapshooter...40 to 43 out of 50, by next year he will be beating me, he has half a room full of trophies & plaques. The third age 13 is a recreational shooter & does well with a 22, not yet interested in competitive shooting. The last one age 8 shoots recreationally but also wants to shoot trap, has his eye on my collection of REM-1100 skeet & trap guns, already shoots the 410, wants to go to the 20 gage , says he will wait until he is 10 for the 12 gage. They all worked with me to learn to handle a gun safely & respect what they can do. Their range presence is exceptional & always wear eye & ear protection.

They all help reload shells & clean guns, they all attend the Friends of NRA fundraisers , they all have won guns there.

I never have to worry where they are, When I go to camp they always go along & never have gotten into serious trouble........ maybe they are like me & never got caught!

When I show up at the trap club, they help load the houses, set the trap machines, hookup the callers .......they also take their turns to score, referee & clean up the ranges afterward, they also assist at hunter safety training.

Am I bragging ...Hell Yes, Will I ever have to worry about accidental or intentional shootings in anger by them ...... I seriously doubt it, I spent the time with them to instill the lessons of safety & respect, it has paid off big time.

dudley1-

First of all...congratulations for being the Dad that I'm sure your son has huge respect for, as I do my own Dad.

That's what it's all about! You are probably close to my Dad's age, and he did the same for my brother and me. He started us off with the Daisey Red Rider (can't remember how old I was), and then took us to the range when I was 10, and made us take the hunter-safety course. At the time, it was boring as hell, because I just wanted to release a barrage of lead down range, but I am so thankful to the day for him making me learn it.

He bought me my first .22 rifle when I was 13, and I have been hooked ever since. To the day, I still thank him for teaching me early on. It's mostly when we've had a few and are on the lake catching bass, but it's sincere no less. Firearm education should be part of every curriculum at every Middle School in the United States.

Just so long as Sally isn't teaching the course...

Enough of my ramblings. Just wanted to say thanks for bringing back some fond memories.

Now THAT is a dudley1 I can RESPECT!

You GO, Grampa!

I started taking my daughter deer hunting with me when she was 4. She would go once in a while with me, but her heart was not really into it.
My youngest son has gone hunting with me several times but he doesn't really care to go, but he likes to shoot my .38 special revolver or anything that will fire 7.62x39 ammo.
My oldest son started faithfully going deer hunting with me when he was 4 or 5. When he was 8 I took him dove hunting. I had kind of quit hunting birds at that time. When we got back and were cleaning the doves, he asked me how old he had to be to shoot a shotgun. I told him as soon as he thought he was ready. He had shot a .22 and bb gun alot. He was ready. I put a clay pigeon on a post and handed him a single shot .410. I turned my back to the target to watch him to see what his reaction would be. I didn't know if he would cry or what. As soon as he shot, his eyes got real big and he yelled "That was cool". He has more long guns now than I do and he is only 14. He had wanted a AK-47 for a year or so, but I kept telling him no, because he already had an SKS, but as soon as the Dems took over in November I went out and bought him one (WASR-10) with all of the nasty features: 30 round mags, bayonet, muzzle brake, and pistol grip. I figured that if he didn't get one then, he might never have the chance again.

Mark-
"nasty features" was a nice touch.

The "high-cap mag" speal is another liberal fallacy that makes me sick. The "BAYONET LUG" is a joke too! While we're at it, how about the ludicris pistol grip law? What a fuckin' joke! The circus clowns passing these laws have no clue what they are talking about.

Here, if the rifle looks "scarwwwwwy" we obviously aren't capable of being civil and defending ourselves. Oh yeah, and we can't legally own a magazine that's 10 rounds+ because we might go apeshit and take out a troop of BoyScouts while helping Grandma across the street!

That's Kalifornia for ya!

Liberals: Stuck on stupid!!!!

Posted by: CharlieDelta on April 25, 2007 12:43 AM

I feel for the few sensible people in Kali. The amount of stupidity in the reporting and discussion of the VT shooting is scary. Everyone thinks they are experts on guns. I saw the pistols referred to as being automatic and being assault weapons. And the 9mm being refered to as high-power.
Has anyone in the United States of America ever been killed by a bayonet?

Thanks....

To all, Thanks for the nice comments, as for my efforts with my son & grandsons.....I only have done what all parents & grandparents should do.

CharlieDelta....

Bass Fishing.......Here in NW Pennsylvania we have some excellant Bass fishing. Largemouth are plentiful but not large by Florida Bass standards, Smallmouth fishing is world class here in Lake Erie. By the way, do you know the differance between a largemouth bass & smallmouth........The Largemouth is Female!

If you like surface plugging around the lily pads in the spring for largemouth.......Try a Dalton Special"Frog Finish".....The wooden one not plastic, they are or were made in St Petersburg Fla.

If you like really fiesty smallmouth.....Take a Heddon Hep #2 , remove the factory hook, put on a longshank SS treble with a white maribou skirt tied on & a trailer single hook for short strikers. Drives -em wild here. If you have a stash of polar bear hair from an old flytying kit that works better then maribou.

Grampa & grandson fishing......

Grampa & his grandson were out fishing, things were slow so Grampa grabbed a beer & sipped it slowly......Grandson says,Hey Grampa, can I have a sip? Gramps says does your dick touch your ass ? Grandson said No, Grampa says you are not old enough, have a Pepsi.

A little bit later Grampa pulls out a flask of Whiskey & takes a sip, Grandson says Grampa can I have a sip? Grampa says, does your dick touch your ass? Grandson says No! Grampa says you are not old enough, have a Pepsi.

About one hour later the grandson gets hungry & pulls out a bag of fresh oatmeal cookies, Grampa says Hey! give me a cookie.Grandson says , does your dick touch your ass? Grampa says Hell yes I`m old enough! Grandson says so what! Grandma made these for me....have a goddam Pepsi!

Ah, you guys make me nostalgic. In the olden days when we use to burn our trash in barrels way out in the back yard...When Mom wasn't home, we'd sit at the kitchen table with Dad have the patio door open and take aim with the .22 just to see if we could make Mom's empty hairspray cans blow up. Ahh, the good old days. I was 7 or 8 then, we'd shoot trap and retreive the clay pidgeons it was considered 'the country' Now they call it a suburb and the kids sit inside and play nintendo on thier fat butts.
