Let's try this again...one "enter" too many too quickly last time - I just wanted to say how beautiful of a post that was and that I'd expect no less of your mom, Denny.

Denny.....

I read this post before, I just read it again & I`ll read it everytime you post it in the future.

My mother is also gone, she was one hell-a-va mom. She was there to support me,scold me,cheer me on, pick me up & to encourage me. She asked nothing in return. Yes, I did tell her I loved her, many times.

I was at my mothers bedside when she died, My older sister on one side , I on the other. We were there to comfort her as she passed. Was this noble, hardly.....It was so very little for all that she had done for us throughout our lifes. Now when I think back, I realize I could have done so much more.

I wish it were it possible to spend a day, an hour or even a minute with her to at least say one more time Mom "I love you , I will never forget you". Today I know how much Mom meant to me, how much I loved her, how much I miss her & most of all the heartache I feel for the many times I could have said Mom "I love you" & did not.

As I sit here posting this , I glance at my phone, it has been 18 years since that phone rang & Mom said "How`s everything today son? .....God, but the silence is deafening. I would give anything for it to ring once more.

Thanks Denny for posting this again ....Thank you so very much.

A wonderful post. I'm glad I got to spend Mother's Day with my mother this year.

Denny wrote,

When [my mother and her friend] were around twenty years old [...], they hitchhiked from St. Louis to the Grand Canyon. These were two young girls. No way they could do this today.

And why is that? Is it possible that the massive influx of non-white immigrants has had an effect on public safety? Is it possible that non-whites, like "Hispanics," people who do not share our culture or our values, who have no desire to assimilate--and limited ability to assimilate even if they wanted to--have changed America for the worse?

Is it also possible that the liberal world order which tells people "if it feels good, do it!" and "do your own thing" has decayed public and private morality? Is it possible that liberalism's primacy of the individual has harmed society at large?

Is it possible that the current criminal justice system, which protects criminals' "rights" at every juncture but has lost much of its concern for the victims and has all-but abandoned the idea of punishment, no longer has the ability to instill the fear of incarceration in those who might be tempted to cross the line?

And for the point that will cause the most responses: is it possible that black "liberation" has "liberated" them to act as their innate nature impels them to? Is it possible that blacks are, as Department of Justice statistics show, far more likely to commit crimes, including violent crimes, than whites? Is it possible that the vacuum created by whites abandoning their position of moral authority has made it possible for other groups, including blacks and "Hispanics," to assert their own version of "morality"--one that does not include respect of, and desire for, law and order?

Nah. I must be talking crazy talk again!
