Our politicans have stabbed us in the back.
WASHINGTON, May 17 — Senate negotiators from both parties announced Thursday that they had reached agreement on a comprehensive immigration bill that would offer legal status to most of the nation’s 12 million illegal immigrants while also toughening border security.
Yep! Reward the lawbreakers with citizenship. Assholes! And in another 20 years we'll do it again.
If the bill becomes law, it would result in the biggest changes in immigration law and policy in more than 20 years. That would provide President Bush with a political lift and a tangible accomplishment for his second term. It would also be a legislative achievement for the new Democratic leaders in Congress, though they said they would seek changes in the measure.
"A tangible accomplishment"? WTF? Creating 12 million Dimocrat voters? What kind of an accomplishment is that? Way to go Dubya.
At the heart of the bill is a significant political trade-off. Democrats got a legalization program, which they have sought for many years. Republicans got a new “merit-based system of immigration,” intended to make the United States more competitive in a global economy.
GMAFB! It's bullshit! We have been screwed by our "public servants" and we didn't even have to drop our pants and bend over. This is the perfect definition of a zipperless fuck.
But the politics of the deal are precarious. Democrats are already trying to tamp down concerns of Hispanic groups, who fear that the bill would make it more difficult for immigrants to bring relatives from abroad. At the same time, Republican negotiators face blistering criticism from some conservatives, who say the bill would grant a virtual amnesty to people who had broken the law.
That's OK. The Republicans will roll over and then wonder why they can't get reelected when the conservatives stay home. And John McCain, who stood by Ted Kennedy at the press conference, can now kiss his preidential aspirations goodbye. As if McCain-Feingold wasn't bad enough he's now signed on to amnesty. What a dickhead!
What a travesty!

Posted by: Darrell on May 18, 2007 12:22 PMGeorge Bush has single handly ruined the Republican Party. In my short 27 years on this earth immigrants have fucked me twice.
When I graduated from college with a degree in History and Education I was going to start out making around $30,000 a year teaching while people who could speak spanish got to start at around $50,000 a year and could work where ever they wanted. Now as a full time realtor I lose listings because I can't speak spanish. Yes non citizens get home loans all the time.
On a side note no one who lives in the DC area will ever be a successful handy man because the illegals will do the work at half the cost.
Anyone who says they only do the jobs americans don't want is a fucking moron.
Posted by: JonG on May 18, 2007 01:53 PMI just mailed Jon Kyle and informed him that I will, come Monday re-register as an independent. The R's have screwed me enough. I am too damn conservative to put up with this Bull-Shit from our elected reps. I would have mailed Martinez, Fl. where I live but that is a lost cause. Nelson, the other Sen. here is a dimocrat so there is no use to do that. Had a conversation with Rep. Weldon and he won't vote for it. We need to make a lot of calls and make a bunch of e mails to our reps and get this damn bill killed in its infancy. Lets just do it! Kennedy and the socialist are killing this country.
Sally, you must be real happy now that we may see another 60 million new people on welfare and take your ss check. We are beyond help.
$100 says this will NEVER become law.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on May 18, 2007 04:34 PMThis is a good day for America. For their hard work, these immigrants deserve a path to citizenship. They are good for this country. They are very good for the economy. They deserve it and this country will be better off for it.
Yes, it will mean more Democratic voters. Yes, it will increase the rift between moderate Republicans and conservative Republicans. These are all good things for America. We have a bright future. :)

Or are we like Sally and willing to just give it away to any and all who want it because the dim-a-crits want the voters and the gotdam RINOs want the cheap labor. It maybe time to declare open season on both...they ought to be just drug off and shot like the mad dawgs they are
What a royal screwing the American people just got. If Dubya signs the bill, it will show that there is little difference between appeasement Democrats (I will NEVER vote Dem again!) and the spineless Republicans, neither of whom know a damn thing about leadership and preserving America. And if Congress attempts to override a Dubya veto, we should all rise up and demonstrate and riot against them.
Posted by: Bud Watson on May 18, 2007 07:25 PMYup! Figgers Sally would love it! All the illegals commit a crime when they come here, and nothing changes. Once a criminal, always a criminal in too many cases, and that means more work for Sheister liars.Sally gets more work at tax payer expense every time one of them robs rapes or murders.
Their path should consist of a prison bus hauling their ass back to what ever brder they crossed, and sending them on their merry way with a shot gun start.
Sally, I'd tell you to pull your head out of your ass, but you have no clue where to find either.
Hey Sally, you fuckin' moron, answer this: Who the hell is going to pay for them you dumb ignorant asshole?

Don't give in to her. Personally, I think it's time Denny ban her, since she's admitted she's only here to troll.

Posted by: Unix-Jedi on May 18, 2007 09:00 PMOh, and "Sally?"
For their hard work, these immigrants deserve a path to citizenship.
That's about the only thing you've gotten right.
But that's also balanced out and overweighed by their illegal activities, their endemic identity theft, their failure to obey driving/insurance laws, and it's a thumb in the eye to all the hardworking people who played by the rules.
But, hey, what's a Democratic plan that goesn't utterly fuck over the hardworking lawabiding? That's right, it doesn't exist!
Posted by: Unix-Jedi on May 18, 2007 09:06 PMU-J,
It's good to vent! Yeah, I know she's ignorant. But this bill is DANGEROUS.
It's not just the 12-20 million illegals who already broke our laws (And my guess is it's more like 25 million), but that it allows family members NOT HERE already to come here!
A lot of supporters of the bill bring up the "Well, they have to pay a $5K fine", but the way it's written is they have to pay UP TO a $5K fine- BIG difference!
For a breakdown of exactly what's in the bill read this

We need to put a 50% tariff on money wired to mexico, with all funds going to HHS and DOJ, etc. to offset some of the costs the wetbacks cost us taxpayers.
If a wetback wants to send $200 to mexico, it'll cost $400.
Require them show they're here legally by showing a US or state govt. issued ID or drivers license or green card to avoid the tariff.
It's not perfect, but it's better than what we now have- Nothing.
Teresa-
This one has me curious:
"The only repukelican that has any comman sense re; Iraq."
What does that mean exactly? The "repukelican" part was absolutely a knee slapper, and then you drove off the road again...! Please elaborate...

CD - Teresa likes Hagel because he wants to cut and run from Iraq. She has no idea on his immigration stance which is total amnesty. That means she'll get even more of those Mexicans that she "loves" so much. I know more about Nebraska politics than she does. I told her that once and that's why she left here about three months ago. Now that she's back maybe she has gotten more informed, but I doubt it.
Posted by: Denny on May 19, 2007 11:35 AMImmigration Reform, aka Rewarding Lawbreaking
"Immigration" "Reform" is about neither immigration nor reform. It's about rewarding criminals for breaking the law.
That's right: illegal aliens are criminals. A criminal is "a person guilty of a crime." Breaking the law to enter the US, or entering legally and overstaying one's visa, are both crimes. (Too bad this crime is seldom punished.)
As the saying goes, calling illegal aliens "undocumented workers" is like calling drug dealers "unlicensed pharmacists."
What we are seeing is not mass immigration of Mexicans (about 3/4 of all illegal aliens) and other Mestizos (Central and South Americans of native, not European, stock), but mass colonization. Immigrants move to a new land to assimilate and become a part of it. They learn the language, history, culture, and customs of their new land. They abandon their old country for a new one. Colonists, on the other hand, have little interest in the indiginous customs and culture of their new land. They want to transform the place they moved to into an extension of the place they came from.
With the growth of Spanish-language TV, radio, and advertising; with Spanish found in stores and fast-food joints; with the growth of Mexican grocery stores, restaurants, and shops with all the comforts of their home; with Mestizos sending billions of dollars each year to their home countries; with Mexicans steadfastly refusing to abandon Spanish and make English their language at home--even into the fourth generation of American-born children--does anyone really think these outsiders have any intention of assimilating? How can anyone look at what they're doing and call it anything other than colonization?
But I digress.
This terrible, hideous, travesty of a bill would grant instant legal permanent residency to all illegals in the United States. What's more, it would allow the recently-legalized illegal aliens to bring their spouses, children, and parents. That's right: one person breaks our laws, and he gets to bring three generations of unassimilable aliens into the country. Is it fair to legal immigrants to let lawbreakers--and their families--in to the country before those who are following the rules? Is it just? How can a country based on the rule of law do something like this?
People sometimes call this an "amnesty." I disagree. Amnesty means "forgetting." A true amnesty would mean that the government wouldn't prosecute illegal aliens for a short period of time. The purpose would be to let the illegals self-deport. After the amnesty period ended, illegal aliens would be prosecuted and deported. So, the bill in the Senate is not an amnesty. Actually, it is a reward. It's telling the world, hey, come in now, however you can, and you'll get to stay. Legally. Forever.
Why are we rewarding those who break the law? It's like telling a car thief he not only gets to keep the car, but that he gets free gas for life. It's insane. Is it a good idea to give residency, and maybe even citizenship, to those whose first act in the US was to break our laws? Does anyone believe that such people will be good citizens?
So what to do? First, call your Senator. Here's a central number: 1-800-417-7666. Ask for your senator, and tell his staffer what you think of this bill. Tell him you want him to vote against it. Tell him the consequences of voting for it.
Next, pray that this bill fails. If it goes through, hope and pray that the House--whose members are up for re-election next year and have to face the reality of voter wrath--will not pass it.
This is our country. It belongs to us. Let's not give it away to unassimilable, hostile, criminal aliens.
Posted by: Squidley on May 19, 2007 03:25 PMAmnesty & The Republican National Committee.....
Had a phone call from some dipshit volunteer from the RNC last night......Called to tell me how they just knew I could be counted on to send a bucket of money to help prevent a Dimocratic Presidency. Big mistake in timing as I was just in the process of blowing my cool with the information of GWB & the acceptance of Amnesty for the RioGrande River Rafters.
I explained in carefully chosen but harsh words, no amount of money for any reason would be forthcoming until the Republicans returned to core values, responded to the base & quit spending money like a drunken dimocrat.I explained to him that for me a member of the RNC for 20+ years enough is enough...... The Republican Party has to earn back my confidance & support, they have to prove to me investing into the RNC political action committee is worthy. It is show & tell time.....Bullshit is no longer in session.
I did respond to an opinion survey, some of which I have posted below.
Question 1. Opinion of GWB?......Response, dismay for the apparent sad ending of what was a potential for near greatness as a President.
Question 2.Personal favorite for 2008?.....Response, while it was really to early, would work for Fred Thompson if nominated.
Question 3.Iraq?....Response, we must remain until the Iraqis can maintain & defend their country on their own.
Question 4.Illegal Immigration?.......Answer, since this was apparently going to be allowed in spite of overwhelming popular disapproval , it could only help the dimocrats, anger the conservative base even more & accelerate the rate of illegal entry to this country.
Question 5. Were there any dimocrats I could support? Answer, none, unless Harry Truman came back from the dead.Amended Question , how about living announced candidates? Amended Answer.....None, even John McCain was preferable to any existing dimocrats.
Question 6.Did I have any questions? Answer Yes! how have the other RNC members contacted feel about Bush & Amnesty? & what response are you getting for money? First Question response....Overwhelming disapproval... Second Question response.....contributions are down from previous requests.
I guess the only way to get the attention of the RNC is through the method I have chosen,no money until merit & trust is restored.I at least had the satisfaction of discussing with someone from the RNC my dis-satisfaction with their performance to date, whether or not my input will help...only if enough who agree with my viewpoint speakup.
Dudley1 is the NameCaller?......They name themselves, I only call them as I see -em.
Aside to Socialist Sally....Even though you are evidently just a troll, Change your shorts, your other set of lips are salivating over the Amnesty/Bush issue.
This is a good day for America, for their hardwork, these immigrants deserve a path to citizenship? .....DUH! They had one, they strayed from it & broke the law. You claim to be an attorney who is supposed to hold the law of land above reproach , to break that law, to be rewarded while in violation of existing statutes & an illegal alien is allowable? This is what you see as indicative for consideration to citizenship status? I stated once you were educated far past the level of common sense you were born with, now you come along & offer proof.
Hell, I felt so bad yesterday, today I ordered a new truck ....2008 Ford F-250 Superduty Crewcab loaded with all kinds of gadgets & Doodads. Nothing like a new set of wheels to make one feel a little better.Actually my present truck is 6&1/2 years old & pushing 92,000 miles.
With a trip planned this year to the Carolina coast& Florida plus next year Lake Tahoe...It was an excuse I could not pass up.
Dudley1 - What I actually meant were the salutations you use when you respond. You're right. That's not name calling.

The United States of America isn't a life raft for every third world country on the globe. We have limits, and when those boundaries are pressed you get what we have here today, in 2007. Many cities in the U.S. are already overcrowded as a direct result of the infestation of illegal aliens. Hospitals are overrun. Roads are congested. Schools are crowded with students who can't speak, read, or write English (even though its the only language their teacher knows). Energy is being used as a record rate. Jobs are harder to find.
Sally, can't see problems arising from rewarding millions of people for breaking federal immigration laws? What kind of message does that send?
Close your eyes and imagine what our country will be like in 25 or 50 years if we actually begin to pin gold ribbons on criminals who violate immigration laws. These laws exist for a reason, Sally. Just because you manage to dash across the desert without getting detained, find a place to live, and miracle your way into crooked employment doesn't mean your any less a violator.

Denny, what makes me a troll? After reading some of your posts, I post my response. Usually, that's it. Sometimes I continue to debate. But usually, I just post my response, comment, opinion. And my opinion isn't about insulting or throwing shit at you. I just give my opinion. Is that trolling? If some conservative leaves a comment giving his/her opinion and doesn't stay around to post in that thread over and over again, is he a troll?
Denny, this is your site and you are free to allow whatever you want. Apparently you allow conservatives to throw juvenile, vulgar insults, but no one else can do so.

Socialist Sally, as I told you sometime back, we conservatives do respond to attacks from the left, some do so more graphically or with vulgar emphasis but always with truth of the core issue.Usually I do not to resort to vulgar language but at times for emphasis do so as comments made allow for its acceptance & in certain instances play`s well to the home team. I find the rough language of my contemporaries far more acceptable then the lies, deceit & traitorous acts so common to the dimocratic liberal socialists you admire.
I guess it is no surprise to me you do not take apparent exception to the label of "Socialist Sally" but are miffed for the label of "Troll". To be..."Trollerized"..... identifies a unique position of intransigent ignorance for reality & obdurate dis-belief for the principles this country was founded on. This may not set well with you, but since when you attack the conservatives value`s or positions which are based on the constitution & bill of rights & believe in the need to defend against others, we have no choice other then to conclude you to be by definition a "Troll" since you do not respond to request`s for answers, proof or debate.
Sorry but what is....is, even though your hero Bill Clinton was not sure what that meant. If it walks like a duck , quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck. I think you protest too much.

Rumors abound that there are one or two liberals out there with one, are you part of that select group? Back up what you say. Show us how illegal immigration is good. As a retired Judge, I saw too often the reverse side of the coin.
Sally, I was born into a die hard democrat family. When I encountered the real world courtesy of Peanut brain Carter, I developed a wide band of contempt for liberalism. That man make me want to puke. He is trying to divest himself of the worst president ever label. 27 years and still trying.....

You've spent more time trying to deny being a troll than you've spent to defend your opinions.
You've attacked more people for calling you on your admission that you're not looking for discussion, but just drive-by-trolling. You've argued more about that meta-issue than the issues we were actually discussing.
