Denny-
Ummm, could I just get a few bottles of Coors Light?

Posted by: Rob Cooper on May 20, 2007 09:28 PM

Rats. My trip to Texas got us back too late to attend the banquet, so I have to read Denny's description and hear all about what I missed later.

Of course, I wasn't exactly living on bread and water while I was away...

Denny-
Lamb tenderloin sounds delicious! I've only had it once, when I was Confirmed, and I remember it tasting so damn good!

RC-
Coors Light? I pictured you as an Arrogant Bastard Ale type of guy...

I offer all-beef hot dogs w/ steamed buns and kegged Beck's.

Holy crap! That is the exact same menu that I prepared for my family tonight. I had some leftovers and decided to send them to our troops in Iraq. Plus 3 more servings.

Elisson - You missed a good one! Next month it's Merlot vs Cabernet Sauvignon.

Posted by: Denny on May 20, 2007 10:50 PM

Merlot sucks ass. I love the Thunderbird.

Posted by: vetfromhell on May 21, 2007 01:02 AM

Arrrgggh! That menu gave me a kidney stone of at least 4cm.

"Passed Canapes"? Sounds like a bad dump.

Posted by: Trouty on May 21, 2007 07:35 PM

Passed canapes is waiters coming around with little bites of stuff, ya know horsey douvers. They had some neat ones too. Stuffed cucumbers, deeped fried risotto, and other tasty stuff.

Posted by: Denny on May 21, 2007 07:56 PM

Sounds good, pardon my ignorance.

Posted by: Trouty on May 21, 2007 09:17 PM

Denny, what champagnes/sparkling wines do you like? In the under $20 range? $20-45 range?

Your opinion and/or advice is appreciated!

Posted by: AnnaD on May 22, 2007 10:24 AM

Anna - Under $20? None. Between $20 and $45? Veuve Clicquot. Piper Heidsieck Brut. Laurent Perrier (might be at the high limit or slightly higher. I haven't bought it in a while.) Bollinger. I'm sure there's more, but I really don't drink that much Champagne except for holidays and birthdays or when Michael and Cindy serve it when I go to their house for dinner or when they come to my house and bring a bottle. I always buy Cindy a bottle for taking care of my cats when I go away and often, I get to help her and Michael drink it.

Do you have a decent store near you that sells wine? If not, go find one in a yuppie neighborhood. Often they will have a wine consultant who can help you out.

Posted by: Denny on May 22, 2007 11:43 AM

Thanks, Denny! In NH, any place that sells food, including gas stations, can sell wine and beer. Otherwise, there are the state liquor stores (where I can get my Tanqueray for $27). I really don't know anything about wine, so I usually just stick to my favorites on the few occasions I buy it. I don't recall ever seeing a wine consultant in a NH store!

Maybe you can start an "about wine" series in your blog....

You live to torture us, don't you?

Posted by: Omnibus Driver on May 22, 2007 03:35 PM

Yummy sounding as per usual Sir Den!
Humbolt Fog and Roquefort cheese had me a giggle though. There is a street by that name, in a nearby town, near the water, and oddly, it smells the same-ish.
Passed Canapes=Tapas Party! Ole!
