Rarely do all the factors line up....lighting, distance, clarity, composition, etc. so that a terrific picture is taken. This is such a time. A spectacular view of the moon from an aircraft.

Got it from Catfish.
Posted by denny at June 12, 2007 12:46 PMHa ha. We used to do the same thing from the back seat of a cobra gunship over the Quang Tri valley. But I was much smaller and more agile then
Posted by: kdzu on June 12, 2007 01:59 PM????
It had a tandem two-seat cockpit with a gunner in front and a pilot in back, with the back seat stepped to give the pilot good forward visibility. Were you mooning your weapons officer?
I thought that might be the new weapons system of the Democrats after their military cutbacks.

Posted by: dudley1 on June 12, 2007 07:48 PMJudging by the black, smokey exhaust, maybe they needed more gas!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
NOW I Understand!
Mr. Jim Macklin:
If you EVER say "black, smokey exhaust" in comment to a 'moon-pic' ever again, .... :)
BTW:
That's NOT a B-24 twin-engined bomber in the pic!
I'm just sayin' ....
Posted by: DanS on June 13, 2007 01:38 AMNOR IS IT a B-25!
Posted by: DanS on June 13, 2007 01:47 AMI believe that is a B-26
B-24 was a four engine heavy bomber
B-25 was a twin engine, twin tail medium bomber
DanS-
I'm not sure of how many of my 15 points have been deducted from my balance of comments...
...butt is that you?
Posted by: CharlieDelta on June 13, 2007 03:31 AMIt seems that Pelosi got her plane and was allowed into the cockpit to assess the view!
Posted by: LisaKay on June 13, 2007 06:36 AMThe B26 was made by Martin and had a round fuselage. http://www.warbirdalley.com/b26.htm
The airplane in the picture is a Douglas A26 http://www.warbirdalley.com/a26.htm
Posted by: Jim Macklin on June 13, 2007 12:54 PMWell Done Mr. Macklin!
You are correct.
Thank you! I do try about airplanes. Pilot, ATP 8,000 hours, A&P and flight instructor.
The old airplanes are a national treasure and a link to our history.
Posted by: Jim Macklin on June 14, 2007 12:13 AMSeems that the "rear" gunner doesn't know his place on this airplane.
Posted by: formerlib on June 15, 2007 06:15 PMIs that HildoBeast in an A-26? And with a smile on her face?
