AOTW 6-15-2007

This week it has to be David Chase, the creator of the Sopranos, for the lame ending of the series. C'mon, fade to black? And what's with the bullshit of Meadow struggling to parallel park her car? And AJ should have burned up with his SUV. Here's a good ending.

Who fired the shots? The trucker? The black gangbangers? That's a good ending.

I'm pissed about a few other things. WTF ever happened to the Russian commando Paulie and Christopher chased through the woods? I know I'm not the only one asking that question.

Didn't you wish that Dr. Melfi had told Tony she was raped and told him who did it? Tell him! Tell him!

Remember when the Puerto Ricans beat up Chistopher and stole his ride? C'mon, when he got out of rehab he would have gone back with some support and kicked some ass. D'ya think an Italian wiseguy would let some Puerto Ricans beat him up and not want to go back and kick some ass?

On the upside, watching Phil get whacked and then having the car run over him was kinda neat, but the rest of the episode sucked with the exception of the babe that the FBI guy was with.

So, David Chase, for that lame ending of a good series, and for this season, which was also pretty awful, I'm making you Asshole of the Week. Here's your award.

One of my Canadian readers has come up with a similar award on his blog. He calls it the "Full Speed Ahead Award". He explains:

It's the "full speed ahead" award. Then there's a picture of a horse
with... You know, visors on each side of his head so he can't see shit on either side. Thus: Full speed ahead, it can't NOT go ahead.

He gave his first award to Bono. Sometimes I call that asshole Boner.

Never saw it as well as 24 that everyone keeps hyping. I did read and hear that the amnesty bill is going to pass if we don't address the more important things.

I loved the ending. And I liked that the russian never was heard from again. To me the show was always just a slice of their lives not their entire lives. I will agree that this season seemed rushed and I think David Chase spent way too much time on the Vito storyline in Season 6A but a bad Sopranos epidsode beats most "good" TV in my book!

I agree with Kim, though not expected, the ending was pretty good. It left the door WIDE open for future episodes should HBO decide. I lived in an area of NJ growing up that was in the same neighborhoods you see filmed in the show. We actually had a couple of wise guys living in our community. The gripes you have Denny about them not seeking revenge enough is more old school. If I remember correctly, when I left the area in the 80's, these guys weren't the "honorable" dedicated families you saw on HBO. Drugs became the income of choice and most of these guys were nothing like they showed on the show. That was all old school mafia which I suspect doesn't exist in that form anymore. We had a guy in the community who I used to deliver newpapers to every day. It was common knowledge he was made, but there were rumors and such that he "got out" or was in witness protection (which didn't make sense because he was so close to where the action was). Anyway, he had a mean ass German Shepher that would chase me every day on my bike that was a "great" guard dog. One winter, we were shoveling snow off the ice and I found the dog drowned and underneath the ice. I went to the house and told the owners and they were "very" concerned because they said the dog was afraid to go near the lake. Two days later, they didn't live there anymore. That was interesting.

The non-ending......

The so-called ending just plain sucked.....You people who said you liked the ending are in denial, you liked the show but cannot accept the fact any or all unanswered questions regarding more appropriate endings were not addressed.

I loved the show,it was very entertaining, but as I come from a town smack in between two rival Mafia groups from larger cities with occasional flareups between them,it was at times like just looking out the window watching the neighborhood.
The cast lineup read just like my subsciber list from when I had a paper route as a kid.

My personal thought for an ending was Tony going into the witness protection program with Christopher taking over the gang. Boy I guessed wrong.

Anyhow the ending did suck ....but what is the BS with the cat staring at the picture & following Pauly around? This should be explored , if they can make a series about the asshole cavemen ....How about the Cat & Pauly getting a series.

Here are 3 words to explain the Sopranos ending: Sopranos - The Movie. (Hat tip: Don Surber)

oobydooby.....

Yeah, I already posted that comment on "Parkway Reststop" It would not surprise me in the least & make a ton of money to boot.

Maybe in the movie they will get Pauly Walnuts a new sidekick....... I suggest the parrot from the movie "Paulie", He already has the lingo to go with the part, fraternized with the Russian cleanup guy & led a life of crime...It`s a natural I tell ya!

I liked the ending, too. I didn't want to see Tony "whacked." In your mind, you can make the ending what you want it to be.

"I liked the ending, too. I didn't want to see Tony "whacked." In your mind, you can make the ending what you want it to be."

Remind me to go to the bookstore and rip out the last 10 pages of every new novel that comes out, after all the reader should just make up some shit themselves.

The non-ending ending is the laziest thing a writer can do. The entire series had these incredibly banal stretches where you wished someone would whack Tony right there to make *something* interesting happen.

It's almost like the writers all have Alzheimer's and they forget where they were going from one plot point to the next, and just keep driving because eventually they will end up somewhere they recognize.

I won't miss the show.

Denny, sorry, but you're a douche. If you think you can make something better than the Sopranos, then make it. Otherwise, shut the fuck up and go back to whining about liberals or masturbating to pictures of George W. Bush or whatever it is you do.

Oh... LOL... go ahead and 'humiliate' me too, d-bag. Like I give two shits about your site or will ever be back here again to read what you have to say.

C-ya, wouldn't want to be ya. ;)
