After many faxes, phonecalls, and e-mails, it appears that my two senators got the message from the voters in Georgia.
Georgia Republicans Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss will vote against moving the Senate’s immigration overhaul measure forward, the senators said today.“I think everybody did a noble effort to try to deal with the problem in a comprehensive way,” Isakson said. “But it became apparent that the confidence level was not there.”
It also became apparent that the voters were really pissed off about the amnesty bill.
Isakson said he and Chambliss had heard from voters back home that they didn’t have faith in another measure that promises border action because past promises have yet to be fulfilled.
Funny how that works isn't it? The 1986 immigration bill was also supposed to secure the borders. Didn't happen did it?
I got the following letter from Saxby Chambliss two days ago.

He's running for reelection in 2008.
Posted by denny at June 21, 2007 03:28 PMI e-mailed my two senatecritters. One, John Ensign, assured me he would not vote for it. The other, Harry Reid, was a waste of time. In fact, that sums up "Sierra Harry" ptetty well. A waste on time.
Posted by: Alan on June 21, 2007 04:28 PMI have mailed so far 37 congress critters. Seventeen before they killed it and so far twenty since they have tried to resurrect it. It is working but we need more people to jump and go to these assholes and explain to them that we are the ones who vote. Denny is correct about Chamblis and Isaccson. They both got the word that we are more fucking important than their business buddies that want these bastards. My two asshole senators are beyond help and will be challenged the next election if they run.
Now I'll start a campaign to get rid of Martinez not only as a senator but also the RNC head. He is a total disgrace to the GOP. But so is Bush.
Shit Denny, I am jealous. I didn't get a fancy reply from my scanky assed Senators, Cantwell or Murray. Didn't even get a reply.
Both them howl at the moon.
Chuck, no answer from the assholes? Send it registered with return requested. A little costly but worth it.
Posted by: gene Hall on June 21, 2007 07:25 PMGene: I don't know. These are my senators as well. I've sent messages off to them before, and either they don't reply, or you get a letter about some other issue they are patting themselves on the back over.
But - I did get out the word to our friends and relatives in other states to pressure their representatives. I think that is especially important with some older people who may not use the computer much (or at all).
Posted by: PeggyU on June 21, 2007 07:46 PMThanks Peggy. I've done the same. Michelle Malkin has a lot of info and an easy way of notifying the a-holes.
Posted by: gene Hall on June 21, 2007 07:51 PMPetition letters work wonders. If you give them a letter with several hundred signatures, they stop and think. We did it several years ago. What we did was enclose a voter registration printout for our presinct and a signature sheet with the signatures in the same order as on the print out. It was one HECK of a wake up call for an ex rep. One hundred seventy or so voters on the register, and only about a dozen declines.
Posted by: Jeremy on June 21, 2007 07:55 PMEven A$$hole Reid answered me. His answer was that this bill wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing. Ensign said it sucked, and he would not support it. (not in those exact words)
Posted by: Alan on June 21, 2007 08:06 PMDo you give money to these peoples' campaigns? They might pay more attention to you if you did. After all, cash is the mother's milk of politics,
Posted by: jim miller on June 21, 2007 09:40 PMThey are bunch of liars. They realize the bill is DOA.
They will figure a way to attach it to something that can not be vetoed.
Wow! You got a form letter? Hardly anyone gets those. You must be special.
Posted by: Haha on June 21, 2007 10:25 PMChuckS, I didn't get a reply either. I wrote both Cantwell and Murray twice. They're moonbats. You know this. Hell, remember when Murray said that Bin Laden was building nurseries and daycares and schools and stuff like that? Freaks. Both of them.
Posted by: Paul on June 21, 2007 10:38 PMI got a letter from John McCain about 5 yrs. ago after requesting help for a high school friend of mine, and it was "signed" in the exact same color of ink as yours was, Denny. Coincidence? I think not.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on June 21, 2007 11:53 PMI have also emailed my Senator's with no reply back. Dubya got his hispanic votes and I guess we all have to deal with "press one for english'. Very sad.
Posted by: Teresa on June 21, 2007 11:57 PMI was so proud of my Senators. Coburn tried an amendment to enforce laws ALREADY ON THE BOOKS, and the weasels DEFEATED. IT......I repeat... THEY. DEFEATED. THE. AMENDMENT. TO. ENFORCE. CURRENT. LAWS. Inhofe has been giving them fits on the Global Warming Bullshit. My Senators are sane. Who'd a thunk it?
Posted by: Janna on June 22, 2007 12:23 AMThe thing about that Teresa is that it's not all about Dubya/Jorge'...
They are all in cahoots and sleeping with each other. If you think one side of the coin is going to do anything about it more than the other, than you are dead wrong.
They are both in bed together at the expense of the American People!
Posted by: CharlieDelta on June 22, 2007 12:26 AMI have to apologize for my brother. He was always slow.
Posted by: Charliedeltasbrother on June 22, 2007 01:39 AMDid I mention that I vote dimocrat and ride the short bus?
Posted by: Charliedeltasbrother on June 22, 2007 03:09 AMI keep hearing alot about the jobs americans wo'nt do . So I've been noting where I see mexicans working here in S.W. Mo.and what type of jobs they are doing . heres the short list

and 600 new jobs were added this last month as telephone customer service reps for a computer software co. They only want spanish speaking people what's that tell ya ?
Not to mention the thousands that already work in the chicken and turkey plants and farms around here .
I think this has alot to with the fact that a few years ago the jobs were higher paying . For example
Three years ago the local cheese plant was paying 11.00 an hr. for maint. men. now they pay 7.00
The starting pay for at the turkey plant was 9.50 with benefits 5 years ago now its 6.00 even though the plant has grown in size many times over
The one place I havent seen a mexican working is at Taco Bell . Whats up with that?
Haha: at least he got something back, which is of course, indicative of effort. What did you send to your Congressmen? A Pez Dispenser?
Posted by: kentuckyjoe on June 22, 2007 09:42 AMHaving Bob "bribe 'em 'til it hurts" Menendez and Frank "The Skank" Lautenburg as my reps, I can yell all I want and nothing will happen. The Hispanic vote in NJ overrules all. I gotta get outta here!
Posted by: Jerry on June 22, 2007 09:53 AMI got the same letter.
I couldn't tell from it what direction he was going to go. Too full of weasel words.
Apparently he has at least temporarily gotten the message from home that a vote for that abomination would be tantamount to his walking the plank.
Don't trust any of them--don't take your eyes off what they are doing and not doing for a minute.
Posted by: Gabby on June 22, 2007 10:06 AMOne of my Senators is Jim Webb. He responded to my email by saying that he's all for amnesty because all these people have put down roots here. What a dumb shit. The only reason this richard Cranium is in office is because Allen used the word "macaca" and then lied about it's origin.
Posted by: Ric on June 22, 2007 12:43 PMIf the Mexicans are immegrating, then the French and Poles should have given the Germans guest visas in 1939.
We are at war along the Mexican/USA border.
Mexicans who want to be Americans, welcome, run the rest of the nadits, drug pushers and Mex Army deserters back to Mexico City.
Posted by: Jim Macklin on June 22, 2007 01:14 PMWell done Darrell G. excellent observation.
My senators are Cornyn and Hutchinson. Cornyn turned on the bill when a woman at a townhall meeting said "So senator, the price of American Citzenship is now $5000?"......he had no answer. He turned on the bill. Good.
Posted by: Patrick on June 22, 2007 01:37 PMTeresa - You mean your hero Chuck Hagel (RINO) didn't respond? I'm shocked!
Posted by: Denny on June 22, 2007 01:52 PMMy Senator is also going to vote no on the bill. Hopefully the others will grow as big a set of balls as my Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
On a lighter note. Do you know what Daniel Boone said to James Bowie when they looked over the Alamo wall and saw the mexican army standing there?
"I didn't know we were pouring concrete today"
Posted by: kerrcarto on June 22, 2007 02:39 PMHey, I got a letter from Saxby that looks just like yours!
Posted by: Otis on June 22, 2007 06:02 PMPeggyU and Paul. God it's nice to know that I'm not alone up here.
Just what's up with our having to visit GOC to find comfort and wit.
Thanks for the safe haven Mr Wilson
Chuck: I would hope you also visit soundpolitics.com.
Isn't it amazing that corporate greed is what will ultimately destroy our country? What fools our legislators are to be waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of "Homeland Security" while we're being invaded here at home.
For the fuckin' love of money...
Posted by: Marksman2000 on June 23, 2007 09:00 PMWatch out Marksman2000-
According to Silly, this country isn't being invaded...
It's "hilarious" to her.
Posted by: CharlieDelta on June 23, 2007 11:08 PMOh, we're being invaded, slow but steady.
Good jobs are being shipped overseas (so companies can make more).
Unskilled sacks of shit are getting a free ride for breaking federal immigration laws (so companies can make more money).
And the people entrusted to protect our laws, our country, are taking money from the companies to help keep them in office.
What a racket, eh?
For the fuckin' love of money...
