Oh, Gawwwwd. I got one of those lightbulbs from the Global Media Corporation, which employs me, and is absolutely OBSESSED with green *everything* lately. I even got a green canvas totebag and a green coffee thermos mug, as well. Green, green, green. Ack. Enough with the green already!

I have nightmares about those lightbulbs. When I moved into the house I live in now, the previous owners had those light bulbs everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE - imagine those light bulbs in a chandelier. Lefty enviro-freeks.

And the good thing is that when you break one, the clean-up cost can run $2,000 to get the mercury spill fixed.

Funny I'm not dead, we used to play with mercury, it will remove lead fouling too.

But the modern eco-laws in some states anyway require you call a licensed and approved abatment crew in to "save the world" from those bulbs.

Dim watt bulbs indeedie!

I like them for certain applications. I have several places where the lkights never get turned off, apartment hallways, laundrys, several spots in my house. I use them there. What I like is that they last several years rather then changing the bulb once a month. I don't use them in lights for reading though, they make my eyes hurt.

All this poppycock over incandecent bulbs what kind of rediclous nonsensne is this i mean will they presicute those the have the little lightbuld appear over their head when they get a idea like in the cartoons AL GORE IS A DIM-BULB REAL DIM

Incandescents are going the way of small government. Their primary byproduct is HEAT. That means that if you have a lot of bulbs, such as in an office building, you need additional A/C in the summer to compensate, much like Arnold with his SUV. Flurescents aren't much better, but they do produce more light per Kwh, so thats a good thing. We had a company near here several years back with a great idea. They made a two bulb flurescent with a reflectorized back that was angled so none of the light was reflected back at the bulb. 100% was reflected into the room. It put out the same light as a four bulb, with half the heat and wattage.
Again my mantra, we as conservatives should be leading by example. Not because of a myth about global warming, not because of all the liberal green BS, but because its a smart easy way to keep our money our money. We should be making wise decisions. Shutting off lights that aren't needed, using energy efficent stuff.
