Woody sent me this.
This is the French version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The question in English would be "What revolves around the Earth".
The answers are as follows:
a. The Moon
b. The Sun
c. Mars
d. Venus
The poor dipstick doesn't have a clue. Notice in the video they have a survey of how the audience would respond. 56% picked the Sun! Remember this the next time a French person calls Americans stupid.
Posted by denny at July 16, 2007 02:39 PM Category: French BashingI bet the next question was the correct spelling of "soap". Bonus points for being able to demonstrate proper technique for use. Million euro's awarded for actual use of soap. Gotta love the frogs.
Posted by: Don on July 16, 2007 03:19 PMI thought that the earth revolves around Hillary and Barack Obama.
Or is it the other way. Anyway, has anybody noticed how many MSM magazines and newspapers show pictures of Obama on its front? You'd think he was the second coming of Mohammed. Maybe he is and we just don't know it yet. Buyers beware!
How embarassingly pathetic. And they gave him so much time. I guess to so as to rub in the humiliation.
This exhibited skill of knowledge must come as a benefit of that socialized education. 56% of the crowd said sun. At least that hot little Reese Witherspoon impersonator got it right.
Gene - The earth does not revolve around Hillary and Obama. According to the MSM, Hillary and Barack hung the moon.
Posted by: Willie on July 16, 2007 05:13 PMWell he's an idiot, but she looks good!
Posted by: Mark on July 16, 2007 05:27 PMMark. Who looks good?
Posted by: gene Hall on July 16, 2007 05:54 PMIf you've watched the American version or even "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth-Grader?" you'd know the average American isn't much smarter. Sometimes I think a prerequisite for being a contestant on these shows is having an IQ just below room temperature. At least "Jeopardy" still requires some actual brains.
Posted by: Ralph Gizzip on July 16, 2007 07:41 PMMy favorite is Win Ben Stein's Money. Is that still on?
Posted by: Peggy U on July 16, 2007 08:24 PMAlso looking for Extreme Elimination Challenge. I miss watching that show.
I am now physically ill after watching that.
I have not laughed that hard in a LONG time. And, of course, its at the expense of the French.
We have our own set of winners/losers here on this side of the pond. But, to think the ass hats in the audience voted 56% WRONG!!!
And people wonder why they are known as surrender monkeys...
Posted by: BubbaGump on July 16, 2007 10:55 PMGood lord. It was nice to see him turn on the spit though. I agree with Mark and willie on the Frog Reese Witherspoon.
Posted by: patrick on July 17, 2007 03:01 AMDenny,
At least it's not just the USA's poor education system. There are dumbasses everywhere. That was painful to watch.
I'm with Jerry. This was painful.
And what depresses me is that there is probably a significant percentage of idiots here in the good ol' USA who would give the same answer.
I mean, there are plenty of people out there who couldn't find Canada on a map. Even if our schools weren't "feel-good" factories that value self-esteem over mastery of academics, there would still be ignorant boobs. Just not so many of 'em.
Posted by: Elisson on July 17, 2007 12:45 PMWhen you're that damn ignorant you should at least carry your white flag for a fast exit.
Posted by: Dale on July 17, 2007 01:34 PMMaybe the good answer for many USIANS is hamburger. Hamburgers revolve around earth.I guess that many USIANS are so brainless that they even do not know what is a planet. And for the soap, we have many supermarkets in FRANCE who sell numerous varieties of soaps. To wash the brains of obese sweaty yankee tourists. You are so MEAN, so PATHETIC.
Posted by: BRETZEL on July 17, 2007 02:39 PMOoooh! Look! A Froggie! Y'all can play with it, if you wash your hands afterwards ...
Posted by: Peggy U on July 17, 2007 06:05 PMOh, never mind. It's just that same moronic twit who keeps changing his name and can't keep his fingers off the Caps Lock key. I thought maybe we'd got a new ball to kick around.
Posted by: Peggy U on July 17, 2007 07:13 PMI guess they are still living in the 15th century when everything revolved around the earth. I would change the category to French showing true colors. You don't have to do any bashing, they bash themselves.
The Other Mark
Posted by: Mark on July 18, 2007 12:14 AMPretzel-
Hamburgers are actually great! You should try it sometime. Maybe in your world, cheese and whine revolve around the earth, but in this country we have beef, and a pair to go with it...
How 'bout you?
Posted by: CharlieDelta on July 18, 2007 01:26 AMFrench Intelligence.......
This was funny.....I wonder what Prosper has to say on this, maybe he is checking with some French Astronomers to verify.
Anyway , ignorance is not country specific....If one checks out just how lacking the graduates of our public school systems for knowledge or understanding of the most easily accepted truths , it is a damning indictment of the liberal based & administrated educational system in place in this country.
I daresay our current graduates would do well to match what the French interpretation is for which we are all laughing at.
Nothing dudley.
Only morons watch Who Wants to be a Milionnaire.
And I presume only the dumbest want to join the crowd...
I guess he used all his brainpower to learn to speak french. And all those who voted too. 56% voted the SUN!!! Jesus H. Christ!
I'm shocked. Thanks for posting this, Denny. When the shock finally disipates, I'll be lmao.
Posted by: red collar on July 18, 2007 08:31 AMProsper - It's the same here. I only watched it once and I was amazed by the incredible lack of knowledge (or stupidity) of the contestants. Wheel of Fortune is just as bad.
Posted by: Denny on July 18, 2007 11:59 AMProsper.....
Nice to hear from you again......you are right,"Who wants to be a Millionaire" is pretty lame. We have a pretty full plate of homegrown morons here who delight in this type of programming as well as the various reality shows.
Posted by: dudley1 on July 18, 2007 12:56 PMHi, Prosper. Welcome back! Been on vacation?
Posted by: Peggy U on July 18, 2007 02:39 PMdudley1-
"Who wants to be a Millionaire" is right up there with "American Idol" (Translation: American Idiot.)
Let's just chaulk up another group of morons who are distracted by meaningless crap! We'll call them liberals.
Posted by: CharlieDelta on July 19, 2007 01:05 AMThanks Peggy.
And yep, back from Majorca.
What a great place for an 'all inclusive' week of vacation with wife and kids !!
(plus, it's just a 2 hours fligth from Luxembourg)
