Whenever I get an automated phone system that makes me press one for English, I always complain, politely, about it. I finish my business, then say I have a complaint. I explain it's not about the person I have been speaking with, but that I have to press 1 for English.

I say if they want to offer their phone service in another language, OK, but the default option should be English. So far, every phone rep I've spoken with--except the a-hole at the IRS--agreed with me.

I also take exception with one of the sentiments in the song. I don't think we should accept everyone who wants to come here. I think we should be much more selective. First, go back to the pre-1965 preference for Europeans and other Westerners. Next, make sure that the people coming have something wonderful to offer us: business success, high academic qualifications, professional achievement, and the like. No more Third-World peons! Finally, no Moslems--ever.

I believe you have posted that before, but I also agree that it should be posted every month. It should be shown on the big screens before every baseball game, football game, or any major event on TV, right after the National Anthem.

OMG, this is so F'ing offensive to those that come to this great country to make it better. Why should they have to assimilate? Why should they have to "become" one of us and integrate into our society? I just never understood why so many are opposed to allowing our melting pot of a country truly melt into itself. (sarcasm off now folk). Song was good, a little hokey, but the sentiments are dead on.

The next time they have a dimocratic presidential debate.......they ought to have them locked up in a little room & make them listen to this for about 14 hours. Then ask them if they get it ...really get it , then make them listen to it about 12 more hours.

Now invite Bush & company over for a campaign strategy meeting concerning 2008...I guess you know the rest.
