As all of you are aware, the Dimocrats refuse to appear on any debate run by Fox News. Why is that? Are they afraid to answer tough questions? Lemme get this straight. They claim that they are tough enough to protect this country, but they are afraid to answer questions from Brit Hume or Chris Wallace. Sounds like a bunch of pussies to me.
The Republicans aren't afraid to appear on the Communist News Network or MSNBC. They're not afraid to appear on ABC, CBS, NBC, or PBS.
What are the Dims afraid of? For those of you who claim that Fox is partisan do you think that ABCCBSNBCCNNPBSMSNBC aren't? Dimocrats are pussies.
And for the record, if Republicans refused to appear on one of the above networks, I would take them to task as well. They are not afraid to answer tough partisan questions. Dims are. They are pussies.
Just in case you missed the point of this post, I'll repeat it. Dimocrats are pussies.
Speaking of pussies, Pope Algore of the Church of Global Warming also refuses to debate.
Best-selling author Dennis Avery is the next prominent figure to challenge the facts Al Gore is promoting in his global warming crusade. Mr. Avery is co-author of "Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years." Both Al Gore and Dennis Avery have New York Times best-selling books on global warming, but with opposite conclusions.
But I thought the science was settled on this. The Pope should be able to clean this guy's clock. What is Algore afraid of?
The list of Al Gore detractors continues to grow as his extreme rhetoric and conclusions get dissected by scientists, economists, and researchers. Avery joins Lord Christopher Monckton (former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher advisor), Bjorn Lomborg (Danish economist), author Michael Crichton, Prof. S. Fred Singer (former director of the U.S. National Weather Service), Tim Ball, Ph.D. (historical climatologist), Prof. Ian Clark (University of Ottawa), and Prof. Richard Lindzen (MIT) among others.
Pretty impressive list. Maybe the science isn't settled after all.
Gore claims recent climate change is the result of human activities, and society must give up most of its energy supply to prevent global catastrophe.
While Pope Algore and his liberal buddies make no sacrifices whatsoever.
Conversely, Avery amassed physical evidence of past warming/cooling cycles and experimental evidence demonstrating variations in solar activity affect Earth's constantly varying temperatures.
Holy crap! Real science!
"My book says our warming is natural, unstoppable -- and not very dangerous anyway," stated Avery.
It was warmer in the 1oth Century than it is now and we're still here. Amazing, isn't it?
These books represent the two leading explanations for the Earth's recent temperature changes-and they conflict. If global warming truly is the most important public policy issue of our day, then it is high time the public got to hear the arguments from both sides matched up against each other," continued Avery.
I agree. Bring it on. What is Algore afraid of?
Gore has refused all debate challengers to date. Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, noted, "Maybe it's because climate alarmists tend to lose when they debate climate realists. Or because most scientists do not support climate alarmism." The Heartland Institute has run more than $500,000 of ads in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Times promoting a debate.
Conclusion: Algore is a snake oil salesman peddling bullshit and junk science. He's also a pussy.

What about this one :
the Australian Academy of Sciences, Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and the Arts, Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Royal Society of Canada, Caribbean Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, French Academy of Sciences, German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina, Indian National Science Academy, Indonesian Academy of Sciences, Royal Irish Academy, Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Italy), Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Academy Council of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and Royal Society (UK)
Those are the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and represent the consensus of the international scientific community on climate change science.
and you know that in 2005 the national science academies of the G8 nations (including the United States National Academy of Sciences) plus science academies of Brazil, China and India (three of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the developing world) signed a statement on the global response to climate change. The statement stresses that the scientific understanding of climate change had become sufficiently clear to justify nations taking prompt action.
But, if Crichton or Heartland institute say it's bullshit...

If they were to go to a place which had common sense "emanating" from it, the Democrats knew they'd lose out. Democrats follow the old, "Birds Of A Feather, Flock Together" mentality. Fortunately, for liberal Democrats, most of the Hollywood elite are just like them, hence why their "word" gets out the way it does. If Hollywood were not infested with liberals, the liberal Democrat party as we all know it would be in trouble.
Oh yeah, this is precisely one of the reasons as to why the Democrats want to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. I wonder if the Fairness Doctrine will be enforced for ABCCBSNBCCNNPBSMSNBC?
You see, you can speak out against the liberal Democrats all you like, but in the end, they will simply try to censor you. Conservative talk radio and the Fairness Doctrine is a prime example. Then again, censorship is the only way liberal Democrats know how to compete. They tried with Air America, and look how "successful" Air America Radio was? Uh huh, moving on: So, given the failure of liberal talk radio, how do they compete with conservative talk radio? Why the Fairness Doctrine, of course!
I have a question for you liberals out there: What is next after the Fairness Doctrine? A "Fairness Doctrine" for us bloggers? It wouldn't surprise me.
Just what part of "Congress Shall Make No Law ..... " do you liberal assholes not understand?
By the way, I have phone calls into each and every one of my Congressman about this, and I have yet to hear back from any of them. Even the one RINO here hasn't gotten back to me.

Huh. So, they're willing to forego funding and work on it for free, then?
I suspect not. And I suspect that "Climate Change" (Which gets rid of the pesky "Warming" or "Cooling" specific) is a serious matter on the minds of many scientists who want grants from government.
20 years ago, we were sure we were headed for a global ice age. Now, we're heading for a roasting hot time. Which is it? Actually, a few degrees warmer would help a hellvua lot - it would increase crop yields, allow arable land to increase about 10-15%, make Canada inhabitable, and Siberia livable.
Greenland would be green again.
I have the utmost respect for scientists - as long as I know who's paying for their research, which side of the bread they've got buttered. Yes, it matters.
Additionally...... China especially I'd be suspect of. Chinese don't speak independantly of the government - much, or for long, which means the government signed off on that report. They don't mean to change anything they're doing, but it's a pressure point on the US economy. (Or the French economy - met those Kyoto targets yet?)
Tell ya what, Prosper: When they can get the 10 day extended forecast right, we'll talk about the 20 year outlook.
Posted by: Unix-Jedi on August 9, 2007 08:47 AMGreenland ice core drilling project 1990/1992
Intrigued by claims of proof for global warming, I researched & read this........
1.The estimated time frame covered by this project was on the order of 125,000 years
2. 21,000 years ago the dissolved CO2 was 190/200PPM
3. 10,000 years ago it was 270/280PPM or a rise of 80/90PPM
4.50/100 years ago it began a "HUGE RISE" to 360PPM or 80/90PPM co-incidentially the same as the rise 10,000 years ago
5. While puzzling the study urged caution as to why the latest rise because while Global Warming can be an influence as CO2 can be absorbed from atmospheric sources , sea water or from known fluctuations during melt conditions. To substantiate this it was found that ice core drillings in Greeland paralleled those in Antarctica with the only significant differance being the fluctuation in dissolved Gases during the many climatic changes.
6.This study also documented numerous rapid climate changes...24 at a minimum since the last glaciation, these rapid climate changes displayed temperature variations of 10/15F in some cases of less then a decade.
7.This study also showed evidance of rapid cooling with the same temperature swings.
8. This study also revealed other green house gases such as Methane dissolved in the core samples varied as well.
9.One particular hypothesis was if the dissolved CO2 reachs 750PPM it is possible the gulf stream heat pump could be turned off, it has happened in the past & do do so again would result in rapid cooling & a return for Artic conditions.
10. The project raised many questions as to the meaning for the rise of CO2 concentrations, some think it is evidance of mans activities releasing more CO2 to the atmosphere, some say it is because of solar heat, some say it is a dire warning, some say it is natural as these changes have occured in the past & no big deal.
11. I guess my take is since this has been on-going for at least 125,000 years with all kinds of climate change, warm periods, cold periods & swings in values for dissolved Greenhouse gases, I will join the majority of Scientists who do not support climate alarmist activities.
In any event the statement posted in a previous thread which claimed dissolved CO2 concentrations were steady for much of the 125,000 year period with a huge increase in the last 150 years was just not true, at least that was what the final study report indicated. The Algore Global Warming Bandwagon lost another wheel when confronted with the project`s report.

Read my post about the ice core drilling project which was a world wide co-operative venture, at least half of them do not follow the Global Warming alarmist program as put forth by Algore or his supporters.
Forty five percent of Americans do not believe in evolution, must be the fact about the same percentage identifies themselves as Liberals
I thougth it was a red-state speciality, part of your culture wars.
Besides the United States a study compared data from 32 European countries, Turkey ,and Japan. The only country where acceptance of evolution was lower than in the United States was Turkey (25%). You know, Turkey, the country your President want to join EU. Conservatives in your country whu would agree with euroweenies ? No way !
And I think the Global Warming controversy is another oh those culture wars. Conservatives in your country don't have faith in science anymore... It's very amazing from europe, where there is not such controversy. We may be right or wrong, but we all (stupidly ?) believe in evolution or global warming.
Posted by: Prosper on August 9, 2007 11:14 AMProsper - "don't trust your own national science academy?"
Actually the NAS report makes clear that though there is cause for concern about human impacts on global warming, there are also enormous uncertainties and unresolved issues which need to be taken into account when crafting public policy on this issue. Pretending those uncertainties exist only in the minds of "quibblers" is not a reasonable way to proceed when deciding how to proceed.

You hit the nail on the head with that one!
Prosper couldn't be more wrong.
Most of the skepticism towards global warming in the United States is coming from libertarian minded individuals who find it a remarkable coincidence that the proposed solutions to global warming always seem to be the same statist answers to every other problem that has arisen in the last century.
Also, many scientists are skeptical over the gloom and doom scenarios that Al Gore and his minions have predicted. They certainly aren't in lock step on this issue.
Bringing evolution into this debate is a complete non sequitor. Most libertarian skeptics of Anthropogenic global warming agree with evolutionary theory. A lot of Christians who do not believe in evolution are supporters of AGW theory because it follows their belief that man will, in the end, destroy the world.
So who is the religious zealot here?
I would think after several years of debating Americans, Prosper, that you would have realized that the political realities here are not as simple as is typically portrayed in European media.
Posted by: Yosemite Sam on August 9, 2007 11:42 AMThis whole global warming bull-shit is a liberal scheme to stop the expansion of capitalism in the third world. This along with the LOST treaty now being perpetuated by the UN is just another means to bring the US down to the level of European socialst countries that believe in world government. Have there ever been a proposal by the UN or any European country to force China to quit forced labor? This whole global warming is a farce and Al Gore is a dunce.
Posted by: gene Hall on August 9, 2007 02:07 PMOne question that has never been answered by the global warming freaks is, "What is the exact perfect temperature of the planet earth that we are trying to maintain?". Bingo! Got my AOTW. I thought it was gonna be Jon, but he just got beaten out by my latest little troll.
Prosper - I'm just pointing out that the debate over manmade GW is not settled. Crichton may be a novelist, but his book was very well researched and footnoted with his sources. Your evolution comment was off topic. We're not talking about evolution, we're discussing manmade GW. You just used the liberal tactic of deflecting. I thought you were above that. As U-J said, if you want to get into American/French bashing we can.
The point of this post is that the Pope of the religion of Manmade GW refuses to debate someone with opposing views. What is he afraid of? Just like Dims won't appear on Fox News. What are they afraid of?
Remember, Pope Algore keeps moving the goalposts. He's now saying ten years until the point of no return. Funny, he said that six years ago as well. Four years from now he'll still be saying it.
I would give him a lot more credence if he led by example and didn't have such a large carbon footprint.

Posted by: Prosper on August 10, 2007 03:20 AMJokes aside, there's no room for american bashing here.
In 2005 (G8 summit), your President recognised "that the surface of the Earth is warmer and that an increase in greenhouse gases is contributing to the problem".
In 2007 the G8 also announced their desire to use the proceeds from the auction of emission rights and other financial tools to support climate protection projects in developing countries.
So it seems manmade global warming is admitted by your government. And as it is admitted by both the two chambers of your Congress (full of commies-pussies-dimocrats), we can say that America is on board.
Just conservatives do not agree. So I may have to invent the conservative bashing...
Yeah but Prosper, our government also admits (believes?) there are moderate Muslims and we can coexist on this planet with them which ALL people with common sense and at least an 8th grade education realize is bull shit. So we (Americans) don't all tow the government line that they throw us all the time. Please stop confusing us with the citizens of the EU who believe everything and do everything their government tells them (ie "Don't worry fair citizens, allowing all these Muslims to invade our fair cities will have no detrimental affect on our way of life"). Get my point. Probably not.
You know Ray, we (you and me) live in democracy. It is sad you don't trust your government nor your representatives. When you say "We(Americans)", do you mean "We(white american right-wingers hating those left pussies)" ?
Posted by: Prosper on August 10, 2007 08:43 AMProsper, there's a big difference in "trusting" your goverment and believing everything that comes from them is completely factual. Read our constitution some time. It was written exactly with this fact in mind. We are always supposed to be diligent and at times skeptical of those that are running our country. It's part of the checks and balances we have in our system. It's not sad that we question things, it's a responsibility. Now as we have more and more socialist leaning politicians in office (like the French government) it is even more imperative that we question their motives and actions before taking them all at their word. And I'm not familiar enough with French government, but by definition, we are not a Democracy, we are a contitutional republic, which may wind up being that which saves us or that which puts us under, depending on whether socialism continues to plaque our society.
Prosper:

I was re-reading some of your comments & would like to correct one point. you stated that we conservatives do not have faith in science. Not true as we place a lot of faith, trust & believe in a scientific approach to problem solving, but in order for the conclusion to be valid.....all relative information known must be a part of the analysis not just the possible information which is being used to establish a political position.
You see as I stated in a previous post in order to establish a new interpretation you must be able to explain away previous belief & also justify why your new interpretation fits more properly in a scientific definition.
This is what is wrong with the Algores , his imitators & supporters, In their hysteria to promote a political agenda truth is the first casualty in their reasoning or lack of. Just as Jon made a statement in proof of global warming based on ice core drillings....what was really established was not what he stated . In short he lied or to be quite generous, was in over his head. Given the single-mindedness of most leftwing invironmentalists , I believe he mis-represented the truth.....dumb thing to do when it can be readily checked.

Any one think Algore will be swayed or his supporters by this revelation? Naw, truth is not a player in the Global Warming movement.
Aside to Jon......This is what we call supportive fact to substantiate our belief that Global Warming is not a new man caused catastrophe but a natural event.
Posted by: dudley1 on August 15, 2007 08:43 AMYou know, I was just thinking yesterday about global warming. The last time I was in Iraq it was averaging about 130 this time of year. I was beginning to think the first timers should begin to think I'm a liar by now because it hasn't topped 120 yet. Actually, it's been a nice brisk 110 the past couple of weeks. Go figger....

It sure doesn`t look like global warming is having much effect here in Erie Pa...I suspect were people to check their local area records, the same trends would be apparent.
For Erie it would seem likely if anything a cooling period has been in effect for the last 37 years with significant & increasing snowfall the norm.
I recognize short term climatic changes are not indicative of long term effects but it does illustrate the current Global warming hysteria favored by the LSM & liberal environmentalists is BS. To those of you who are still mesmerized by Algores braying at the moon..... Do a little research of your own , you will be very disappointed to find you have been lied to.
