Power Shortages

So let it be written, so let it be done (link from Don Surber. Am I good or what?

From my post back in January:

So let's see. California is only gonna buy power from plants that meet California's clean air regulations. So automatically that is gonna cut the supply side of the equation. You know which equation I'm talking about don'tcha? It's that supply and demand thing that communists liberals are always trying to circumvent.

California is gonna limit the supply of electricity by cutting the producers they can buy power from. They're also probably not gonna let the price they pay float. Hello shortages.

Gun. Bullet. Head.

From yesterday's Pravda San Francisco Chronicle.

About 2,400 people were without power Sunday as the city's electrical grid strained in the midst of a continuing statewide heat wave.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Take that you Granola munching assholes! And according to Pope Algore it's only gonna get worse.

The California Independent System Operator, which oversees the state's power grid, said no major shortages were expected through Monday. Still, it urged customers to continue conserving electricity by setting air conditioning thermostats higher and waiting to use major appliances until after dark.

I got my thermostat set at 74 and I'm as cool as could be. I'm also doing my laundry and it's noon here in Beautiful Dunwoody. No shortages in Georgia or in West Virginia where Surber lives. Maybe you buttmunches in California may want to rethink your moratorium on power from coal fired plants. It would be wonderful if a bunch of Hollywood liberals lost their power.

Try as you might, you cannot repeal the Law of Supply and Demand.

Update: Don Surber linked. Thanks Don!

Those nasty electrons, they get dirty and pollute the envirnment.

What California needs to do is harness their available resources to solve their problems.

1. Build giant "hamster wheels";
2. Connect electric generators;
3. Use available human to run on the wheels.
Criminals, illegal Mexicans, unemployed teenagers, drug adicts; charge a fee to be on the same wheel behind Paris Hilton.

Too bad all the "hot air" thats expended there can't be put to good use...If only bullshit could be converted to gasoline...

Posted by: Sandy G on September 3, 2007 01:26 PM

I say screw'em let them sit in thier dark little rooms with no AC . Clean power my ass - just where do ya get that ? Do they mean that nuclear generated electric ? Oh yea they are having to drill out mountains to store the wastes for the next 10,000 years . Must be natural gas powered plants . Oh wait thats the stuff they have to kill all those little animals to get when they drill and run pipelines is'nt it. Well its gotta be wind power then . Nope it kills birds and make noise and is an eyesore just ask the swimmer. Well its gotta be solar but then that takes big factories with lots of nasty chemicals to make those little cells and then you have to have batteries - again acids, heavy metals, chemicals oh my . Geo thermal - Nada more drilling and pipelines in wildlife and scenic areas .
I guess its just a fact of life if ya want to have lights and AC ya gotta kill some shit or trash up the place . So take yer pick

Last time there was an energy shortage in CA it drove up the prices here in Washington and Oregon. I say let them sit in the dark.

By the way: 74? Be a man. 68 and put on a sweater

Posted by: donsurber on September 3, 2007 03:42 PM

Well all of California residents are not "Butt Munchers" but I can understand the jab, this state does lead the world in Faggots per Capita....

Anyway I agree with your analogy about building power plants etc.
This State is a typical Liberal stronghold, they scream about the environment and want alternative fuels, AS long as it's not in the state, as long as it doesn't impact them at all. The actors in Hollywood will not lose power, the studios will never be dark, the politicians that make these dumbass laws are comfortable all the time. it is us low life tax payers that have to suffer.

I can't wait to move out of this god foresaken state, they can give it back to Mexico for all I care, it's full of Illegals anyway and it smells like burning burritos all the time.

Posted by: Robert on September 3, 2007 03:53 PM

Wow...such hostility. Personally, I miss California's environmental thinking after living in Georgia for a little more than two years. In comparison, I see Georgia's conservation efforts as being third world.

I do think Georgia could learn a few things from California, as I see North Georgia being raped by developers from Metro Atlanta all the way to the North Carolina stateline. Sad. Very sad.

donsurber - amen. If it hits 74 in this house, the Mrs. starts beating me up. 'course we balance it out in the winter by just leaving the windows open.

Illegal aliens are costing the state $10.5 billion (or so) every year. That's right, they are a net drain on the economy.

So, back in 1994, the voters of California passed a little thing called Proposition 187. It was designed to deny public services to the illegals, to require proof of legal residence, and make the state a less-hospitable environment for them.

The Federal courts overturned the will of the people.

Is it any surprise that White Flight started in earnest after the will of the people was denied? Is it any surprise that since the Mestizos have moved in and turn once-pleasant neighborhoods into cesspools, whites are no longer a majority in People's Republic of Mexifornia?

I am fortunate to live in a white pocket--but I can't afford to buy a house in a decent neighborhood, even though I make more than the median. I have a great job that I love--and I can't wait to find another so that I, too, can abandon this liberal, leftist, socialist, multi-culti, Mestizo-infested hellhole that's also overrun with Indians, Chinese, and a host of other people who simply don't belong here in the numbers they are found.

I think many californians, and libs, live at the height of energy hypocracy. "Just power me up, but don't tell me the details." DarrellG is right.

Truth is, and we can learn one from France here (eeek.. I said that) is BUILD A BUNCH OF FUCKING NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS. There is no air pollution, there are few limits on how much power you can generate, and you don't have to deal with Jihadist freaks, Hugo Chavez, or anyone else to get it.

Posted by: patrick on September 4, 2007 09:00 AM

Squidley-illegals aren't just a California problem, it is rampant everywhere. I'm fortunate enough to live in a 97% White community in the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia, but the illegals are making their way into all the mountain communities, too. Atlanta is a cesspool of immigrants from all over the world, not to mention the gay capital of the south. San Francisco pales in comparison!

I love visiting California and will always consider myself a Californian first. Leave it and find out how many things there are to like about California.

Rolling blackouts in California are as old as I am and so is energy conservation...especially in the valley where the summer temps are in the 100s for days or weeks on end.

Posted by: vicki on September 4, 2007 09:11 PM

I just love the whole rolling blackout bullshit. I had my A/C cranking since Friday and turned it off before I went to work this morning, and half the weekend, I wasn't even home. I know it didn't blackout here, because the clock on my stereo was where it should be. I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with the heat because of bullshit Kalifornia politics. Especially when I can afford to run the hell out of my A/C unit.

vicki-
The only thing I like about Kalifornia (SD in particular) is that I have the beaches, the mountains, and the deserts all within two hours of each other. The rest of it can go to hell!

And I was born and raised here...

Posted by: CharlieDelta on September 4, 2007 09:53 PM

Vicki, I know that illegal aliens are a nationwide problem; they're just worse here because of their omnipresence, and because we're one of the border states, and because the liberals actually don't mind exploiting Third-World peons, as long as it happens in our own country.

I know someplace much better than California--but I won't say where :-) I won't miss this hellhole when I leave, though I do enjoy many of the scenic delights in my vicinity. I just hate having to share them with Sanjay and his extended family; Chang and his extended family; and Juan, Pedro, Miguel, Esteban, Luis, Ramon, Jesus, Alberto, Rafael, Pepe, Angelito, Ernesto, Ricardo, Manuel, Frederico, Gregorio, Stefano, Hector, and Pablo, and their slew of mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, children, grandchildren, cousins, and unwed pregnant teens.

(When I say stuff like this, Denny thinks I'm a white supremacist. I'm not. As much as I hate having our doors open to the world, I recognize them all as God's children. However, I don't recognize them as appropriate people to be in America. Why? Because--here's the shocker--whites have civil rights, too. Whites have the same right to maintain and perpetuate our culture as everyone else has. We know that multiculturalism is an abject failure, and the only way that multiculturalism can grow is by letting in too many people from foreign cultures. Once they are numerically strong enough to make demands to be "included," it can only be done at the expense of the existing, historic majority people and their culture. In America, those people are the whites.

(All I want is a country where my culture and people are the norm. We have no problem with letting the Japanese be Japanese, and the Chileans being Chilean, and the Ethiopians being Ethiopian. Why is it wrong for America to be American?)

It's the 64K question:
(All I want is a country where my culture and people are the norm. We have no problem with letting the Japanese be Japanese, and the Chileans being Chilean, and the Ethiopians being Ethiopian. Why is it wrong for America to be American?)

Squidley-
The answer to that question will never be answered no matter how many lions...

Hold onto your culture, because it's crumbling as we speak...

its 0630, humidty at 60% due to last night storm of blowing sand and wet clouds and 102 on the car port and my thermostat is set at 77. Threats of rolling power outages strike terror in my heart. For the isolated area I live in surrounded on 2 sides by huge windmills, a quater of such are working, the remainder shut down, have a hard time believe the desert communties of CA should be even considered for outages.

then I read in the local paper, Imperial Valley press, that a "major" bust of 56 Mexican Mafia members has been quite successful.
The "citizen" comments and side line threats; Unbelieveable, but then maybe my background makes me shake my head in wonder and awe at the full blown stupidity run rampant down here where the sand blows common sense right out of the gray matter.

Denny you should take a few minutes and check it out.

I need to move

"All I want is a country where my culture and people are the norm."

Squidley, perhaps if you don't want to be called a white supremacist, you should stop talking in terms of whites and Mexicans/Indians/etc, and talk in terms of unassimilited immigrants. After all, that's the problem, not the fact that they are Mexicans or whatever, or, to be honest, even that they're here illegally.

Posted by: Rick C on September 5, 2007 10:42 AM

Rick C-
How in hell can you actually think that the fact they're here illegally is not a problem? That in itself is a major problem!

Posted by: CharlieDelta on September 5, 2007 12:55 PM

Squid and CD ... As I said, I live in a 97% White community for a reason! I choose this region because there are very few "others." The only "other" race I see are Mexicans who work construction. Are they legal? No. Real estate is in the toilet here, so hopefully all the wetbacks will go somewhere else. Truthfully, I can tolerate the Mexican immigrant, who works, easier than the lazy, welfare, ghetto Blacks I see in Atlanta and further south. Racial tolerance isn't one of my virtues.

Georgia doesn't have a power crisis, we have a water crisis. Little to no rain this season and the lakes in the mountains are mud puddles. Strict water restrictions are in place. Guess you can't have it all!?

Posted by: vicki on September 5, 2007 11:54 PM

vicki-
The fact that you chose to live in a community that's 97% white automatically makes you racist...

Didn't you get the memo? ;-)

It's not even an issue if wetbacks want to live in a wetback community, or Asians choose to live in fellow Asian communities, or if Blacks would rather commune with Blacks. It's only "racist" when the Anglo would like to preserve Anglo traditions and live in Anglo communities with fellow Anglo's.

Apparently, that's when the line is crossed.

Racial tolerance isn't one of my virtues.

Mine either vicki. I guess that's what separates us from the apathetic, ignorant crowd...

California the dream of Eco freaks.

I've lived in Oceanside for the 24 years.
Great climate and I even like the Mexicans, they work hard and for the most part just want to get ahead. (the family across the street has an awesome yard, they do not own a lawn mower and by bejus every Saturdsay morning the whole family is out there trimming the lawn with scissors and clippers) But keeping the developers at bay BBB SSS the only thing that has kept someone from walking to Mexico from LA by strolling along rooftops is USMC base Camp Pendelton. Got a nice scenic river well if you trade the state a few acres in the moddle of the desert you can build luxury condos on the banks.

Power shortages just wait till 2025 when the Governators newest green law takes effect; no power plants will be allowed to dump waste heat to the ocean (Carnot cycle: fuggid abboudit) there goes 15000 MW of power. Thats a shitload and pisspot of wind turbines folks, probably enough to fly the entire state to the vicinity of Athens Ga.

Rick,

You appear to have bought into the liberal idea that race doesn't matter.

It does.

Thought experiment: ancient Greece gave us people like Plato, Socrates, Archimedes, Zeno, Alexander, Pericles, Aristotle, Herodotus, Aeschylus, Euripedes, Aristophanes, Democritus, Sophocles, Homer, Agamemnon, Plutarch, Aristarchus of Samos, and so many other greats who have had extraordinary influence on the development of Western civilization and culture. Do you suppose that any equivalent of those people would have been born if ancient Greece had been inhabited (by whatever means) by, say, the Chinese? The Chinese have made numerous accomplishments and achievements--but they didn't invent Greek philosophy, Greek art, Greek math, Greek architecture, and so on. Would they have ever done so--even if they were in the Aegean?

Just look at the facts on the ground: how many famous people from Oceania, sub-Saharan Africa, the native population of the Americas, or the Aborigines of Australia can you think of? A handful at most, and almost all of them are better known for what happened to them than what they achieved: Kofi Anan: promoted; Montezuma: defeated by Cortes; Steve Biko: murdered; etc.

Why do we not know the names of people from those areas? Because they haven't achieved anything important enough for the world to pay attention to.

Bottom line: no culture has ever survived the extinction of the race that carried it. Numerous American Indian tribes have died out entirely. No one speaks their languages. No one worships their gods. No one wears their clothes. No one observes their rituals.

I don't want that to be the fate of my group. Do you?

Don't think it could happen? 100 years ago, whites were 39% of the world population. Now, we're down to 17%.

All I want is a country where my group--the historic majority group, I might add--remains in control of its own destiny. It's not about hating others; it's about valuing ourselves.

Tim-
If you have lived in Oceanside for 24, then I thank you for your Service, and those before you...

The illegal Mexican thing;
(the family across the street has an awesome yard, they do not own a lawn mower and by bejus every Saturdsay morning the whole family is out there trimming the lawn with scissors and clippers)

I have no qualms with this, but I wonder how long you have been in Oceanside with this opinion? The wetback gangs have taken over a Marine town...

How the FUCK did that happen?

Great climate and I even like the Mexicans, they work hard and for the most part just want to get ahead.

Great climate, yes. Illegal wetbacks just wanting to sap the system, yes. Tapping the United States for all She's worth, yes. If you think they are a positive influence in this country, you have another thing coming...

Do you buy Strawberries off of Cannon Rd. too??
