Where can I get me one of those. What model and caliber.
Posted by: kdzu on September 16, 2007 07:06 PMLooks like a very tricked out M-16/AR-15...
Posted by: Sandy G on September 16, 2007 07:18 PMThese should be standard equipment at every Syrian and Iranian border crossing . I bet there were more than a few Syrians with dirty shorts running across the desert after that little raid on the korean nuke stash the other night . And from what I hear the Syrian air defense network went down in a big hurry - supposed to be tougher than the Iranians net . And there were commandos on the ground designating targets . Good stuff .
Posted by: Darrell G on September 16, 2007 09:18 PMIt is a military M4 witha machined aluminum Picatinny foreand, vertical fore grip and a standard adjustable butt stock.
Caliber is 5.56x45 NATO, but you can get 6.8 and other calibers. Just go to your local gun store.
You can buy the same thing, minus the full auto parts and the really short barrel.
Posted by: Jim Macklin on September 16, 2007 10:20 PMThe magazine alone will get you 3 years in the slammer in the Kalifornia Soviet; pistol grip, folding stock and flash hider another 5.

Posted by: ty guy on September 17, 2007 01:15 AMCalifornia is a strange place, they have proved gun control doesn't work, they've instituyed waiting periods, that started at 3 days and are now 15 days, they have banned magazines, ammo, and now want to have every gun microstamp the guns serial number on every round and bullet.
It really seems that the loonie Tunes are not just a cartoon.
How about a version for illegal alien identification photos here?
Posted by: Jeremy on September 17, 2007 09:29 AMIt looks a lot like there's two separate scopes on that.

There are indeed, two optics on that rail. The one closest to the muzzle is an Aimpoint red-dot, zero magnification combat sight. Highly effective in it's own right, and especially in CQB (close-quarters combat), where any magnified sight would be a net-minus.
Immediately behind it, is a quick-detatch Aimpoint 3x magnifier optic. Great for extended range engagements of 50 yds on out to the weapon's average effective range of +/- 375 yards.
Why is the 3x detachable? Easy. Come nighttime, one simply clicks in the appropriate NVG light amplifer in it's place, turns the brightness on the red dot down to match (it's then not visible to the naked eye, but is 'just right' to not wash-out the NVG), and you're good to go.
Charlie might have owned the night in the '60s&'70s. We now have clear title to that particular franchise.
Oh, and that's not quite a true mil-spec carbine. Needs BUIS (flip up backup iron sights) and an evil bayonet mount. Just not evil without that pig-sticker, dont'cha know?
