It's baaa-ack. Remember Hillarycare 1.0. It gave the Republicans control of Congress for the first time since the 50's. Today Hillary Rodent Clinton announced Hillarycare 2.0. It will "only" cost $110 billion. Yeah. And Bill didn't inhale and he didn't have "sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky". This is a Clinton. Do you believe anything that she says?
Also it will force every American to have health insurance. Submit or die! Remember, communists socialists liberals progressives know what is best for you. It will also cover all of our illegal aliens. Now isn't that special?
Matt checked in with what he thinks Hillarycare 2.0 will do to the American taxpayer.

Bend over.
If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free. P. J. O'Rourke from this speech.
Posted by denny at September 17, 2007 10:02 PMWhat's wrong with a little Socialist healthcare?
After all, we ARE a Nation of immigrants.
We don't want every bozo with a disease suffering in silence & then passing along the likes of TB, HIV and the like if it would cost us but a pittance in $'s to be able to say "Son, you'll want to go to the Clinic and have that sore treated."
Take it a half-step further:
"Son, you got no rational defense any more for continuing to live with that!"
Or that growth; or that 'thang' you call a cultural-goiter.
National Healthcare sez that we have a NEW FREEDOM: an ability to tell Joe Yuck that what he or she has 'got' is treatable, is already paid for & that if He/She does NOT accept treatment (albeit perhaps after a long-wait time) that they are in violation of Law and can be sent to fucking-Prison for not taking advantage of the simple cure that would benefit us all.
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that it cost us each an aggregate of $1,200 a year. For that 1.2K/Annual, LOOK AT THE NEW POWER AVAILABLE TO YOU!
You'd be able to say, ...NAY.... you'd be able to DEMAND that Joe Schmuck take advantage of what is already paid for.
National healthcare would vest you with POWER you never dreamed of!
Shitcan the dogma & ideology and see an OPPORTUNITY when Hillary shoves it it right in your face!
SHEESH! And YOU are the 'Smart One's'?
Great with Hillarycare we can get treated at no extra cost when our heads are cut off bc of Sharia law
Posted by: ty guy on September 18, 2007 03:26 AMDanS - where to start? For those that love freedom, it is no catharsis to envision the government DEMANDING that I or anyone treat a desiese in a manner they prescribe. Why would you think that would appeal to readers of the GOC?
Also:
Where are those with treatable desieses currently not wanting to be treated? I know Denny profiled that one guy a few weeks ago but thats it. Does that MF have a brother or something?
I do have serious discontent with the current system: If you are an illegal, really poor, or over 65 then you can currently get nationalized health care. If you are working and none of the above then you are SOL...not good.
There is an organization here in Dallas called "The National Center for Policy Analysis" www.ncpa.org the mantra is "private solutions to public problems". Go here for some answers that make sense.
Posted by: patrick on September 18, 2007 06:00 AMDan you're using them big words again, and out I have to drag the dictionary and thesaurus to see what you're talking about.
Actually, for a 46 year old that picture is chilling. I can imagine Hillary doing a prostate exam and ripping me apart from the inside.
Posted by: KentuckyJoe on September 18, 2007 08:59 AMDan:
Did you forget to call in your prescription again this month?
Posted by: Unix-Jedi on September 18, 2007 09:46 AMDanS...............
I dont know about the other regulars but I like you, anybody with first hand knowledge of Delta /Chicago Blues cant be all bad. Having said this .........Where in the name of God do you come up with all this Goddam Liberal BS? You are not a naive person ...Do you not see the Liberal Socialism/Goverment Welfare Projects = Higher Taxes/More Government Regulations& Less Freedom? How many times must you get boned up the Ass before you wake up?
Posted by: dudley1 on September 18, 2007 02:57 PMIf our employers weren't paying for the vast amount of employee health care premiums, then we would certainly have higher incomes. Now, if universal health care passes, will these corporations then increase salaries and hourly wages? Probably not. So, who benefits? We certainly don't because our wages won't increase and then we'll be taxed on universal health care so this puts most of middle class families in double jeopardy. Corporate America wins. Government wins. The people lose. SNAFU.
What about the borders? Are we going to shut those down if universal health care passes? So many questions. No answers. Keep government out of our health care. That's my answer because the last thing I want is some government bureaucrat controlling my life like that.
Posted by: Paul on September 18, 2007 03:11 PMYou know she had nothing to do with writing Hillacare v1.0 She was the salesperson. Recently she had to go to a hospital and shadow a nurse all day so she could "find out what a nurse does". Shit I know what a nurse does! She is about as qualified to run The Health Care System as I am to fly the fuckin space shuttle.
Posted by: kerrcarto on September 18, 2007 03:49 PMSo whats gonna be the penalty for failing to buy health insurance ? Does it mean you cant be treated ? Or are they gonna slap a big ass fine on ya . What if you have a permanant medical problem will your insurance rate be the same as a healthy persons ?
It all sounds like more of that chicken in every pot bullshit that the libs are always trying to sell for a vote .
Maxim concerning government programs: They always cost three times original proposal.
What is hers is hersand what is yours is hers, too.
Posted by: Another Government Employee on September 18, 2007 08:46 PMhey kerrcarto- If by some slim, slim, slimass chance you do get to fly that shuttle, can I nominate Hillary, floater, and Pelosi to round out your foursome.....bring one parachute.
Posted by: patrick on September 18, 2007 11:36 PMComment of the day. "I don’t think that the Govmint should have anything to do with health care until they show they can actually run a whorehouse at a profit". (Stolen from Drumwaiter)
Posted by: Scrapiron on September 19, 2007 12:43 AMPatrick I would gladly "martyr" myself to get rid of those 3 dickwitts but they would have to bring Harry "the fairy" Reid along. I could tell them that I was going up to prove Global Warming. Then as soon as the SRB fired up KABLAMO!
Did you hear that you will have to have health insurance BEFORE you can get a job under HEllicare v2.0! Then if you don't take the gov't health care and by your own which is better than theirs you can be taxed up to 60,000!
Posted by: kerrcarto on September 19, 2007 01:35 PMDenny, you really pissed me off when you said that this plan would end up covering illegal aliens; that just makes my blood run hot. Gawd, I hope this cunt doesn't get elected. My co-workers tell me "the American people are too smart to put her in office." I don't know...they put her stupid-ass husband in office twice.
Posted by: Marksman2000 on September 19, 2007 06:47 PMWell, THAT was an interesting (and NEW!) thing!
With no plan aforethought, I posted as I did on this topic; -it just happened that I was first. What was NEW (at least for me) was that I SHUT UP & LISTENED (okay, read).
Amazing is the domain of response! Facts not in evidence introduced as God's Own Gospel truth; opinions based on the aforesaid.
A question was posed: "Where do I get these God Damned Liberal Ideas?"
I get them from nothing more than trying to accept and make sense of what I'm reading. I think there are some damned good-ideas and very rational comments posted here ....-and I read them for that reason.
The trouble, for my mind, begins when I try and find a common denominator to the comments of both the Loyal & the Loyal Opposition: there is none.
For what it's worth, such an understanding on my part has allowed me to shitcan just about any and all prescription drugs. There's one or two I still have to take, but the goal is to simply accept my life with nary a drug in it.
With that in mind, I'm not sure whether to hate you, praise you, or simply accept that you are more like me than you may feel comfortable with.
National Healthcare, whatever guise it takes, is a foregone conclusion.
I merely wanted to point out that where you see threat, I see opportunity.
Wasn't that once the very Credo of what it meant to be Conservative?
Ask me about my W.
Posted by: DanS. on September 19, 2007 10:12 PMDan - You are correct. It is a foregone conclusion. Talk to any health care professional and he/she will agree. Now ask them if they are in favor and they will say no. Why? Because they have to deal with Medicare and Medicaid and they see what clusterfucks those programs are. The major problems with our health care systems have been caused by the gummint and ambulance chasers like the Silk Pony. Seriously, do you want the same people who run the IRS and the DMV to run our health care system?
Posted by: Denny on September 19, 2007 10:37 PMDan, no being a "conservative" is just like the old German house rules that I had to live by as a child.
If you make a mess clean it up.
If you get it out put it away.
If you break it fix it.
If you tell someone you will do something do it.
If it is none of your business, than keep it that way.
Den & Kerr:
You are both missing the point!
HillCare as currently envisioned don't give a hoot about the rules, the regulations, the procedures are anything other than:
HOW IT WILL BE PAID FOR!
It's in that sense that I agree with Cato's "Olde German Rules"; it's in that sense that I agree w/Den about the bollicks it COULD become.
What I am saying is DON'T focus exclusively on how BAD it could be but rather on what it MIGHT BE given an opportunity such as I've outlined.
I think this in compliance & keeping with what you have BOTH posted.
Dan, the only problem is we HAVE seen what happens when the gov't puts it hands on anything. There plan starts out with good intentions, then it grows into this monsterous entity that is so full of BS that it drains money (in the form of taxes) from the people. Take for example us smokers. We are paying the lions share of the SCHIPS program here in Texas. An extra 1.00 a pack they now cost 4.85 a pack here compared to 3.85 a pack last year. What are the libs are trying to pass at every turn? No smoking laws! If no one can smoke than how are the SCHIPs programs going to be paid for as the years progress? Do you think, that if there is not enough tax revenue from the smokers to pay for the program that the gov't will kill the program? Hell no they will find a way to re-route the cost to every other person in some sort of tax. A tax on a minority only escalates to a tax on everyone at some point. Next time you get sick, go knock on your neighbors doors and ask them to give you $20 to help pay for your doctor visit. See how many takers you get and how many people tell you to get lost! That is what HELLary care v2.0 is asking you to do.
Posted by: kerrcarto on September 19, 2007 11:29 PMKC:
The scenario you posit may indeed be true for you, but I assure you that (from experience) kicking in $20, $50 a Hundred or more is a facet of the quality of life in at least this neighborhood.
You obviously don't buy into what I call the "4-Day-Weekend"-principle: Them that has provides for those who don't. It comes a point of PRIDE to be a provider.
Obviously, this is not the place to expand on that, but it boils down to something you might understand: if, on a given 4-day weekend, you found yourself without cigarettes, you would not go wanting, no matter the cost, to those who were not smoker's...
That's 'cause we want it like that" for our fellow-traveller.
Regards!

You remind me of the people who fall for the swindle schemes like the offers for money from claiming inheritance & insurance money & splitting the ill-gotten wealth with a lawyer in Nigeria or some other swindlers paradise. These people get taken again & again , they never learn.
Back to you......Even though you are well aware the government has never taken over any independant enterprise for the greater benefit of the people & ran it as well or as cheap as did private enterprise, you still eagerly line up at the public trough for a big helping of liberal BS. One would think a simple review of the past history for the astronomical rise in cost for any program under Federal or State control & the expansion of that control to other areas of what historically was personal choice or decision establishs a need for caution as to the consequence for the folly of a socialized all caring & giving state.
This is what I mean by my statement of how many times must you be boned up the ass before you wake up, apparently you still try to find rationale in this activity or you would admit albeit sadly you are being victimized by the liberal socialist agenda..... in the mean time you & others who attempt to find benefit in the rape of individual freedoms belly up to the trough for another big helping of liberal BS.
Just remember in your haste to gorge at the public trough just what happens to those who line up at the trough on the farm, same scenario except this time it is not animals being fattened up for the slaughter......it is us!
Posted by: dudley1 on September 20, 2007 07:45 AMHey Dan, I'm out of smokes will you give me $50 bucks for a carton? E-mail me and I will give you my address. I accept cash or money order. No checks.
Posted by: kerrcarto on September 20, 2007 09:25 AMKC:
I'll share with you my very last cigarette and properly dispose of the butt; when can I expect you to buy a house in this neighborhood? Will you be needing any asistance with food, clothing & shelter?
Alas, I can send you no funds because I have no way of knowing that my largesse wouldn't turn you into a laughing, crazed cash-sucker.
If your house goes a'flaming, I'll rig up my garden hose and help you out. Such an act on my part to help you might even help me.
Dudley1:
What makes you think I respond to ponzi schemes and Nigerian parking scams? I suppose I could come up with a scheme to use public funds to make private profit. But that would be wrong.
Public funds for public purposes, private funds for private endeavors.
Elsewise, the whole concept of risk/reward devolves into simple operational greed.
I forget who said I should move to France; Why? I was born here, raised here, make my living here, and treat those I meet here with a simple dignity & respect whether they perhaps earn it or not. That's why I went to war ..twice...; -to preserve and defend. Not to make money or kill any or all who supposedly threaten my simple American life.
Posted by: DanS. on September 20, 2007 11:22 AMDan S ....
First, I think I & others have thanked you sincerely & profusely many times for your military service......don`t do a John Kerry walk on number please!
I never said I think you respond to Nigerian scams or ponzi schemes.......I said you remind me of those who do! Why?....because the liberal`s working to make the welfare system all encompassing are perpetrating a ponzi scheme of monumental proportion with we to be the losers of free choice, independant thought & ultimately our nations freedom to the liberal aristocracy if they continue unchecked. People like you who are educated & deep down inside know better swallow their line of liberal BS & line up at the government trough for more.
Dan S, you are capable of so much more, I respect your education & obvious interest for the welfare of our society. That being said ....you know full well it is a dangerous game to play the welfare roulette wheel as postured by the dimocrats, first it is loaded to reward only those who the dimocratic party is beholden to so they remain a viable political force. Second the ultimate price to be paid in increased taxation coupled with the aforementioned loss of choice, independance & freedom will destroy this country as it has done to so many other countries with no benevolent Super Power available to rescue us.
Open your mind & use the god-given abilities you are blessed with & the education you have equipped yourself with.
Posted by: dudley1 on September 24, 2007 07:04 PMWhat turns me off on Universal Healthcare is that it would be created, administered, and paid for by the same folks that have spent 127 Billion (and counting) rebuilding New Orleans.
Not to mention their inability to turn a profit while running a Nevada cat house (h/t Lawdog).
