I'm beat. Made three dives today: Two in the morning, one in the afternoon. All of them were awesome. On one of the dives this morning, a sea turtle swam within three feet of me. This afternoon we spotted a school of squid and they came real close as well.
I got a new dive computer right before this trip and I was reading up on it this morning. I can't believe how much the technology has advanced since I bought my last one four years ago. That one kept a history of the last 15 dives. This one can store 9999 dives! To learn all the functions on this computer you need an engineering degree.
I'd like to write more, but I'm tired and I need a nap before dinner.
Tomorrow, we dive a wreck.

That would probably scare the shit out of me. So would the notion of coming nose to nose with a Gigantic Man-Eating Shark.
You're a very brave man. Glad you're having fun.
Posted by: Erica on September 24, 2007 07:56 PMReef squid are very cool. Small, but in the right light their colors are amazing. They're also very curious, and if you stay still, the braver ones will often come over and check you out, sometimes even poking at your mask.
I agree on the dive computers. The new ones have so many options and whatnot they make my head hurt. I'll stick with my old HS Explorer for the foreseeable future.
Aww, man ! What I wouldn't give t'be there...
Posted by: Sandy G on September 24, 2007 09:42 PMWould the wreck be the Hilma Hooker?
Posted by: BradW on September 24, 2007 09:55 PMThree dives in one day!
How deep do you go ? I've recently been certified.
My dive computer at school was a real POS, so reading the
Dive mags just gets me wanting to make my first real dive
even more important.
You are cert for wreck diving ? Impressive (to me).
Have fun brother!

Posted by: patrick on September 24, 2007 11:07 PMI'll take sea turtles thank you very much. Not so scary as squid.

Is that dive-speak for diving with a hangover?
Posted by: CharlieDelta on September 25, 2007 01:42 AMSea turtles and squid sure beat Amalamadingdong and morons. Enjoy the diving while the rest of us get fed up with the world in general. We'll keep you informed, you have a great time for us.
Posted by: Jeremy on September 25, 2007 10:59 AMYou lucky devil. I went snorkeling in St. John this year.
Posted by: Rhea on September 25, 2007 12:11 PMErica - Reef squid are real small, about 4 inches long.
BradW - Yep. It's the Hooker.
Bill - The hardcores in our group (the able bodies) go on a 4th shore dive after we get back. In Bonaire, most of the dives aren't real deep. We seldom go over 60 feet so air lasts forever and we don't have to pay a big nitrogen penalty. You don't have to be certified to swim around a wreck.
CD - There is no way I would ever dive with a hangover.

That was my attempt at humor. I guess I shouldn't quit my day job...
