It's that time of year again. It's time to open your wallets for a good cause. The Navy team raised the most money last year and we plan on doing it again this year. Our goal is $60K. Go Squids! Oh yeah. We've lumped the Coast Guard in with Navy this year. I've always envied the dudes in the Coast Guard. When their ships sink, they can walk to shore. Old Navy joke about the Coast Guard.
The fundraiser ends November 11 and this will stay at the top of the page until then. Hence the November 11 date on the top of the page. If you want to give but not to Navy/USCG, go here. You can also join one of the teams and put this on your site.
For you liberals who say that you support the troops, here's a chance to prove it and to put your money where your mouths are.
To keep mindless adolescent trolls who hate the troops from commenting (you can figger out whom I'm talking about), I have closed comments on this post. I have decided to move one of the comments here. This was from Laughing Wolf, whom I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Denny, thanks so much for doing this (even if for the wrong team *G*). I just had the honor of helping present Valour-IT laptops at Walter Reed on my way back from my embed (see Blackfive, heard the appreciation at getting them, and heard from others how much they had meant and helped when they had gotten theirs. Humbling doesn't begin to describe it. To Sally and all who have donated, thank you. To all who are thinking about it, please do so -- it means a lot.Posted by denny at November 11, 2007 11:59 PM
thanks for posting this. I had not heard of this group so went to their website. scanning of their financials says that only 1% goes to administration. Had to go army though in honor of dad. He'd have liked this very much.
Posted by: patrick on October 28, 2007 08:30 PMHoly crap, I need to get my act together and start thinking about posts!!!

Tried to access & donate....will not accept my business credit card, also when I try to get back to Project Valor to find a mailing address, Internet explorer jumps in & says there is a problem & kicks me offline from Verizon.
If you know of a mailing address I`ll send direct.

I don't support the troops and I don't have any money to give anyway unless my parents raise my allowance.
Posted by: haha on October 28, 2007 11:13 PMAren't I funny? I just registered moveon.org on the Navy team. Wait until I tell all of my friends what i did. They'll be so proud of me. bwahahahahahaha!
Posted by: haha on October 28, 2007 11:36 PMVery funny haha, You went and registered moveon.org. How smart you are! How funny! I guess that will impress all of your middle school buddies. I guess we now know exactly how you feel about the troops. Yep! Let's take a perfectly good organization that is providing a needed service for our veterans and then play a big joke by signing up moveon.org on the Navy team. I know, why don't you sign up Kos for the Army team? Or the DU on the Marines Team. That would be funny. You just displayed to everyone on this site just what a juvenile asshole you are. You must be so proud.
Posted by: Denny on October 28, 2007 11:46 PMhaha Denny - I really pissed you off didn't I? I got you mad and made fun of helping our troops.
Posted by: haha on October 29, 2007 12:02 AMDamn Denny,
I think have you gone and found this week's troll before the week is even started. No congrats to Haha.
Thanks to your reminder, I'll be making my donation tomorrow, and trying to get a link up on our website too. Hoooah!
Posted by: Rurik on October 29, 2007 01:02 AMMan. I hope I pissed off all of you dummies who support the troops.
Posted by: haha on October 29, 2007 01:24 AMFargin Argin-I just donated. Kina Sorta. I bought my son his Christmas Gift. I'll donate next week after the roof guys have their way with me. Dang-this thing comes up so soon every yr.
Posted by: LisaKay on October 29, 2007 08:12 AMI also like the minimal admin costs. Imagine the government running something like this.
Sorry, Denny, I had to go with Army, too. I think it's a fantastic program. Thanks for putting it up.
Posted by: Greg on October 29, 2007 09:36 AMThanks for having this on your site, Denny. That is a particularly good project for Soldiers' Angels. I'm happy to have made another donation.
Posted by: Sally on October 29, 2007 03:52 PMSally - Even though we don't agree politically and philosophically, at least we agree on what is a good cause. Thanks for your donation.
Posted by: Denny on October 29, 2007 05:01 PMJust a suggestion but next time you might want to say where these funds are going towards. If they are going to our troops in Iraq or Afganistan then say so. And don't give this Lib any crap about proving anything. I send out my care packages every week to my son and his "battle buddie's" as he calls them. It really shouldn't matter what branch they are in.
Posted by: Teresa on October 29, 2007 09:26 PMWow. I clicked on Comments specifically to see whether or not Sally was going to participate. To my surprise, she did. Now I feel bad for calling her a bitch a week ago. I apologize, Sally.
Posted by: Paul on October 29, 2007 10:12 PMDenny, Haha has nothing meaningful to add here. He's just a kid/troll with a little brain and an even smaller prick. Can't you code something that auto-edits his posts or just ban his parents' IP altogether? What a waste of bandwidth this little perv.
Posted by: Paul on October 29, 2007 10:17 PMThanks for the heads up on this. I just joined the navy team, and I donated a few sheckles myself. I was never in the military service, but my father,& stepfather , wer ein the navy, and a good friend of mine was in the Coast Guards, and heck you picked it for your choise too. So that did it for me.
All the best,
Glenn B
Teresa - Maybe you should do your homework and check out Soldiers' Angels and their Valour-IT program. Here is sumpin' from their website.
Every cent raised for Project Valour-IT goes directly to the purchase and shipment of laptops for severely wounded service members. As of October 2007, Valour-IT has distributed over 1500 laptops to severely wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines across the country.
Greg - All that counts is that you gave. Thanks!
Posted by: Denny on October 30, 2007 12:09 AMIt's awesome that you post these on a regular basis Denny. I always forward the link to everyone I know. Some can give, and some can't, but the more the word spreads the better.
Teresa-
It really shouldn't matter what branch they are in.
That's the whole point Teresa. It.Doesn't.Matter.What.Branch.They.Are.In. All that matters is that us Americans show appreciation for those that give their all for our Country. Why do you have to be pissy all the time? Take a Valium already...
Teresa,
Once again you prove that you are the ONLY person who sends care packages? You are the only Military Mom in thee entire world? But of course you are. The Army refers to them as battle buddies; seems that I knew that even though I'm a Navy Mom. Hmmm? My point is this, we have troops stationed in all parts of the world, from all branches. They all count and this is a good cause to donate to. There are many others as well.
I'm glad that you are able to send stuff to your son. If you knew my monthly post office bill, your head would explode.
CD,
Teresa's just pissy because she thought that we were bullies. In all actuality, she's starting to appreciate us-at the GOC- for the adorable bits of tough love and advice that we dole out. Which she so desperately needed. Hopefully she'll get there, it won't be the first time that I've let a teenager live. Ha!
Paul, that's ok. Hopefully we can all agree or disagree without throwing shit at each other. There's nothing wrong with some honest disagreement and debate.
Posted by: Sally on October 30, 2007 11:06 AMHard to debate when you are running the other way, both literally AND figuratively.
Posted by: vetfromhell on October 30, 2007 05:20 PMVet, you have never tried to debate or even discuss with me. All you have been able to manage is crude insults. I'm sure you can do better than that.
Posted by: Sally on October 30, 2007 05:51 PMI've adopted a soldier via the website:
http://www.soldiersangels.com/
It's a great service. You adopt a soldier serving overseas, write each other letters, and send over care packages.
I've got a lady soldier over in Baghdad. Real sweet girl. She's coming home in December (Florida), so I'll adopt another then.
Great way to directly support the troops (or a troop at least).

Posted by: WBJ on October 30, 2007 07:17 PMCharlie, I am not "pissy" all the time. I think that I am holding up pretty good with my son over there. Why do you have to be so "pricky" all the time?
Posted by: Teresa on October 30, 2007 11:20 PMLisaKay, talking to you is like talking to a cement wall. And I happen to Like the vetfromhell.
Posted by: Teresa on October 30, 2007 11:35 PMTeresa-
Everytime you post, you act as if you are the only one worried about the warriors fighting the fight over there. You aren't the only one. When's the last time you had anything positive to say about it? Anything?
Like I've said before, I don't have a child in the sandbox, but I do have friends in the same arena as your son, and I don't bring up the negatives. You seem to only concentrate on the negatives, and that's my only "prickiness" towards you in this regard.
God bless your son Teresa, but don't think you're the only one up at nights...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on October 30, 2007 11:47 PMCharlie, it Really pisses me off that you believe that I am the Only one worried about our troops over there. Just about the entire US is and you should watch something else other then Fox news. Thank you for your support for my son. He and his buddies are in a no win situation. The Iragi's won't step up to the plate and police their own country. That is pretty much the bottom line.
Posted by: Teresa on October 31, 2007 12:19 AMTeresa-
I don't believe you're the only one worried. That's my whole point. You seem to think that you're the only one worried about them, and you express it with nothing but negativity here.
Do you think LisaK doesn't worry about her son serving his country Proudly? That's all I'm saying. You called her a heartless bitch and a Nazi, and that offended me! LisaK is a friend of mine, and you have no right to think you are staying up at nights more than she is. The difference is that his Mom is behind him and his mission no matter what the politics may be!
You're not the only one up at nights Teresa...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on October 31, 2007 12:34 AMAnd you should stop tuning in to CNN for a change while you're at it...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on October 31, 2007 12:35 AMHaha son, please stop jackin' off to Blink 182. Please stop jackin' off to the pictures on Denny's blog. You are really embarrasing me here, son. I know your bastard uncle butt-raped you as a child, and your bunghole is destroyed, butt please eat your baloney sandwich and apple. You need some protein besides the jizzm you are already getting, son. Please.
Posted by: Haha's Momma on October 31, 2007 02:31 AMCD, haven't you figured Teresa out yet? She is a perpetual victim. No matter what her lot in life is, she'll always be miserable. If she wins the multimillion dollar lottery, she'll bitch about Uncle Sams cut. I know lots of folks like her. Just very negative, and their problems are always someone elses fault never their own. I have learned to block them out and ignore, because that's all you can do. Kudo's to her son who is obviously the apple falling far from the tree in his service to our country.
Posted by: Ray on October 31, 2007 06:49 AMDenny, thanks so much for doing this (even if for the wrong team *G*). I just had the honor of helping present Valour-IT laptops at Walter Reed on my way back from my embed (see www.blackfive.net), heard the appreciation at getting them, and heard from others how much they had meant and helped when they had gotten theirs. Posted by: Laughing Wolf on October 31, 2007 08:06 AMI think that I am holding up pretty good with my son over there.
Teresa. Whether you're holding up pretty good or not doesn't matter to most people. Your need for recognition is self-serving, and you wouldn't be a target on this blog if you weren't such a martyr. The question is: how is your son holding up over there?
Posted by: vicki on October 31, 2007 11:20 AMOh Vicki, you are Way off base if you think that I am a drama queen. I made that statement because that's how we are here in the heartland. My friends and co-workers ask me all the time about how my son is doing and how I am holding up. I may live in a red state but most around here want our troops to come home. And my son is doing okay, thanks for asking, (choke). He has been over there for 2 1/2 months and has only had 1 IED hit to his humvee. Maybe You should be more concerned about your son.
Posted by: Teresa on October 31, 2007 09:49 PMAnd there she goes again with victimhood and misdirected BDS everyone. I have a client whose son has been over there the better part of 3 years now after multiple deployments. I ask about him all the time, she says he's holding up great and always has a POSITIVE (read that Teresa) story to share with me about his deployment. She doesn't bitch, moan, whine, cry, lash out, blame anyone except for the camel jockeys for the reason he's over there. Again, no misdirected anger, just a mature understanding of the sacrifices a free nation must endure in order to stay that way. For cripes sake women, you need therapy. I know, I know, GWB has driven you to need a shrink. My violin is playing-----not.
