I think this cartoon is great. I get really steamed everytime some unqualified celeb starts spouting off about politics. I'm constantly stressing to my teenagers how they need to think for themselves and not believe everything they hear on TV. It must be the Missourian in me that refuses to die.
I got so pissed about the Dixie Chicks comments. My kids asked why, and I told them "They're not experts on foreign policy. They just sing for a living."
The same goes for Algore. He's no scientist, he's just a mediocre lawyer who followed in his daddies footsteps.
Posted by: Steve on November 6, 2007 01:33 PMSteve - Pope Algore isn't even a lawyer. He flunked out of law school just like he flunked out of divinity school.
Posted by: Denny on November 6, 2007 01:49 PMThe problem with that cartoon is that the people it represents are too stupid to understand it's meaning.
In the old days I bet the court jesters didn't spout off their opinions. they just danced and entertained and left the thinking to others......good times those.
Posted by: patrick on November 6, 2007 02:17 PMOr if not, the king would off with their heads. Yup, the good old days are gone. Kind of sucks.
What if they have a strike and nobody cares? Do they really think that most of America cares? Only the TV networks worry and they shouldn't as most people can watch re-runs and not tell the difference.

Posted by: vetfromhell on November 6, 2007 05:02 PMhmm... Okay, finally I can post... my addy is Questionable Content...lol...
When did the opinions of entertainers and athletes actually begin to mean something? None of them are qualified. But then again, if you pay someone umpteen-million dollars a year, I guess they might feel like their opinion matters.
Posted by: Random Thoughts on November 7, 2007 06:43 AMThe scarey/sad part is to a large percentage of our now dumbed down poplulation, their opinions and comments do carry a lot of weight. I guarantee you if you go out on a street and poll the general public, they can tell you more of what is going on with American Idol or some other ridiculous show than they can in current world news. Our societies have placed so much importance and an aura of god like status on these entertainers that the less intelligent people think every word from their mouth is golden. Very scarey. And for you liberal trolls out there, this is a non partisan issue as I see people of both political persuasions expressing the same idiotry on this topic.
Random Thoughts - That's OK. My blog is banned in places for that and for pornography (Saturday Boobage).
Posted by: Denny on November 7, 2007 11:32 AMhmm.... interesting name for a blog, by mine is hosted on freewebs. Unless they have some porn content that I haven't heard of yet.... well, it is a free site, so they probably do someplace. Oh well.
And wether this is non-partisan or not, someone is going to take offense and whine and bitch about it. But at least the intelligent people know better.
Posted by: Random Thoughts on November 7, 2007 09:59 PMSteve, I can't believe it, I spent a whole hour of my life watching the Dixie Twats Docu-thingy the other night. Just to peek in on how they handled the whole 'Fat One'. I think that the chicks should have beat her about the neck and ears and then fired her ass. What a brat she is!
I like the idea of the writer's strike in a way, maybe they will finally put out some good stories in the future? Maybe 24 will be worth a dang this year? I only watch a couple of shows on Network TV, Criminal Minds and CSI Las Vegas. Does Jeopardy count? Maybe they will drop the NYT catagories and Alex Quebec will have to retire? I have my feeners crossed.
LisaKay - And the Fat One's dad is a C/W guitar player (he plays in their band) who's been around for a long time. He should have taught her some manners. Didn't watch the documentary. Didn't even know it was on.
The bad thing about the writers' strike is now we're gonna get more mindless reality shows. Fortunately, I don't watch much TV. Psych and Monk are done for the season. I do watch the original CSI, NCIS, and SNL. Oh, and Doctor Who, whose season is over and it's written by the Brits anyway. Other than that, it's football and movies.
24 will probably suck this year anyway.
Posted by: Denny on November 8, 2007 12:16 PMDenny, I liked the fat one's dad in the show. I only told the DVR to record the thing because it was entitled Shut up and Sing. I loved that book by Laura Ingram-so I had to watch it. Disclaimer: Shut up Teresa, this has nothing to do with you.
I think that the chicks are cool but they should've left the fat one far behind. At the end of this dopey show, they were back at the same venue in London-where the fat one-Natalie Maines, repeated the same thing about being ashamed that Bush was from Texas. She did it again! I didn't know that, but now I'm really glad that the radio stations didn't-weren't-won't play them. Cheez wiz!
Cool thing of being a euroweenie : we are 6 month late and so we're still working on the third season of Deseperate Housewife. Juste hope Vick MacKey and Dexter are coming back soon...
(by the way, you know I think Europeans and French are so much better than you guys, but I must confess we cannot do a decent TV-show)
Prosper - I am fairly certain that we agree on nothing. I think we are much better then you, Desperate Housewives is a terrible TV show, my fave tv show now is 20th century battlefields which is a British show...........damn.
LisaKay - I applaud your sentiments but those girls (court jesters) can sing and entertain. esp. the fat one. I also like to watch Alec Baldwin in SNL and Providence. If I turned off all of the leftist court jesters I'd only be left with Dennis miller. like him very much......just not 24/7.
