Benny Moonbeam Checks In On AGW

When I got back from South Georgia, I started reading Sunday's Atlanta Urinal and Constipation and I came across some more global warming bullshit, this time from Benny Moonbeam, the head UN dude.

Valencia, Spain —- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, describing climate change as "the defining challenge of our age," released the final report of a U.N. panel on climate change on Saturday and called on the United States and China to play "a more constructive role."

Sorry Benny Moonbeam but you are full of shit. The "defining challenge of our age" is dealing with the nutjobs of that wonderful religion of peace nihilistic death cult known as Islam. Here's a constructive role you can play: Drink a big old cup of STFU!

The United States and China are signatories to Kyoto, but Washington has not ratified the treaty and China, along with other developing countries, is not bound by its mandatory emissions caps.

And since China is gonna surpass us as the world's biggest producer of greenhouse gases next year, that pretty much makes Kyoto ineffective.

"Today the world's scientists have spoken, clearly and in one voice," Ban said of the report, the Synthesis Report of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. "In Bali, I expect the world's policy-makers to do the same."

No. They. Have. Not. Here's an interesting article about the kind of scientific method the acolytes of the Church of AGW use. And for those of you who want to shoot the messenger, Orson Scott Card happens to be a Dimocrat, although he is a moderate Dimocrat (a vanishing breed).

"The breakthrough needed in Bali is for a comprehensive climate change deal that all nations can embrace," he said.

Here's sumpin' they can embrace: AGW is bullshit. Quit wasting time and money on it.

Although Ban has no power to force members of the United Nations to act, his statements Saturday increased the pressure on the United States and China.

China's gonna ignore him and even though Bush has started mumbling about it, the US will do nothing. And as Martha Stewart would say, "That's a good thing."

Members of the panel said their review of the data led them to conclude as a group and individually that reductions in greenhouse gases had to start immediately to avert a global climate disaster, which could leave island states submerged and abandoned, decrease African crop yields by 50 percent, and cause a 5 percent decrease in global gross domestic product.

Blah. Blah. Blah. Remember this graph that I posted last week? It was warmer in 1300 AD when the Vikings were in Greenland and North America. There was no worldwide catastrophe. Just the opposite. What was worse for civilization was the Little Ice Age. Fah! No one knows what the ideal temperature is.

The panel, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last month, said the world would have to reverse the growth of greenhouse gas emissions by 2015 to avert those problems and others.

2015 huh? I should still be here by then. I can hardly wait to laugh my ass off.

"If there's no action before 2012, that's too late," said Rajendra Pachauri, a scientist and economist who heads the IPCC. "What we do in the next two to three years will determine our future. This is the defining moment."

WTF? I thought it was 2015. Now it's 2012. Make up your mind. Ya notice that this guy is a "scientist and economist"? Is he a climatologist? I doubt it.

He said that since the IPCC began its work five years ago, scientists have recorded "much stronger trends in climate change," like a recent melting of polar ice that had not been predicted. "That means you better start with intervention much earlier."

Which polar ice? The Antarctic ice cap is thicker and the Antarctic sea ice has also increased. Plus South America is experiencing it's coldest winter in 90 years". And I really like the "melting of polar ice that had not been predicted". So if they were unable to predict the melting of polar ice not to mention the additional Antarctic ice, how can they predict that we are doomed by 2012 or 2015. Geez. Weathermen cannot get accurate weather predictions 48 hours in advance and these dipsticks are saying we're doomed by 2012 or 2015? What a crock!

It's amazing how many people have fallen for this scam.

But it is a continuous source of blog fodder.

Denny,

Thank you for posting the link to the Card piece. It is probably the most succinct and direct piece of good reporting on "climate change" I have ever seen.

Denny.......

It is amazing what these people who are mesmerized by Pope AlGore will do to promote this BS. Our local birdcage liner has a weekend feature with articles by our high school students.

Probably 75% of the articles are about Global Warming, How much hotter it is, The polar bears are all going to drown, the Eskimos are going to be extinct & on & on & on.One kid was very concerned that the winter olympics were in danger because there soon would be no snow. They pump our youth full of this BS, these poor kids are being victimized to promote a Bogus belief with the lone culprit to be man.

I think you will have a whole bunch of pissed off young adults when this litany of doom & gloom comes tumbling down in about 10 years or so as the solar phase of increased sun activity wanes & the 1/2 degree of temperature increase vanishes.

I discussed this emphasis for Global Warming with my oldest grandson when he told me about what he was being taught, regarding how much the temperature was rising & the decrease for snowfall. A simple click onto local weather records showed exactly the opposite was true, with the majority of high temperature`s to have been more then 60 years ago, coldest monthly temperature`s within the last 50 years & 17 of the 20 snowiest winters to have been with in the last 25 years. His science project is going to be a presentation of what is really correct referancing weather bureau statistics for high/low temperature extremes & when they occurred , snowfall totals, rainfall, growing seasons & trends.Should be interesting & yes I will be watching very close as to how he is graded.
I might add he is a student at a school for the advanced student with a curriculum featuring accelerated performance criteria, this is not just Public School 101 & no child left behind does not apply.

The hysteria surrounding this subject is unbelievable. We had one of the Goracle's disciples make a presentation at our local Audubon club last week. It was basically the same Power Point presentation Gore makes in his film...errors and all. I was the only one to speak up about some of the inconsistencies. some in the audience had seen the movie and obviously memorized their lines in response to the speakers questions. Even my wife likened it to a "camp revival meeting." (Praise the Goracle!)

How they smear and dismiss the "deniers" is nearly criminal. The speaker only pointed to a few of the wackiest and ignored the rest. (Sort of like pointing to Kucinich and Paul and ignoring the other nominees in the current presidential race.)

I believe Card hit the nail on the head when he says the entire aim of the Anthropomorphic Global Warming crowd is to punish the successful and wealthy countries.

Oh, since the presentation we've been 10 degrees below average for our high every day and got 7-8 inches of snow yesterday.

Posted by: joated on November 19, 2007 07:35 PM

Gore must be onto something. After all, President Bush has invited him to the White House to celebrate his marvelous Nobel achievement.

Morons. All of them, including, sadly enough, our President.

I've heard of that guy Orson Card.

He's an up-&-coming science-fiction writer, right? Does theatre, singing, liberal-arts and the like?

I got the following quote from his bio at (I think) The Rhinoceros Times of Greensboro, North Carolina.

"Even now, Card says that he doesn't so much write his novels as improvise them in front of an invisible audience. "I'm constantly shaping the story so the audience will know why they should care about what's going on.""

Seems he's doing exactly what he claims "Mann" et al are doing /shrug.

No problem here, but he forgot to mention it ain't raining here in Georgia the way the historical data tells us it should, and it ain't snowing in the Dakota's as of 19 NOVEMBER 2007, where normally, 1-2 feet of snow should already be on the ground.

I agree with one thing, tho: I'm enjoying my mid-November night above 60 degrees and a gentle breeze.

I think the title of the Steve Goodman song is "Race with the Sun"; it has a line in it about 'that mean old Sun'. Are you familar with it by any chance?

Are we not supposed to be all dead by now? Thats what all those books I read back in the 70's said. It was supposed to all over for the human race by 1985. What happened? 2012 or 2015 eh? Ok I will stick around to see the terrible end to the evil human race. Especially the evil wicked White Male, who did all this upon the poor Mother Earth. Defshepard

put yourself in this position.

You live in a large housing development. You have the biggest lot and the nicest house. some people come to your door one day and say "look. we want to have a homeowners association to police ourselves. basically we want you to carve off a piece of your lot for us to meet. we are going to have to hire a staff to facilitate doing the bidding of the collective. we are going to charge dues. You are going to pay about 25% of all the dues. That said we are going to direct signifigant effort to screwing you."

...........we are in the UN why???..???

Posted by: patrick on November 19, 2007 10:01 PM

Dan - Card is not an up and coming science fiction writer. He is an established one. He wrote Ender's Game back in the 80's. Won a Hugo Award for it.

It's supposed to be warm in the South. It is. My first year here back in 1985 it was in the 70's on Thanksgiving Day.

AGW is a scam.

Posted by: Denny on November 19, 2007 10:16 PM

Den:

I never said AGW as presented by the fanatic's is not a scam.

I thought my comment implied that Card is doing the exact same thing as the fanatics.

Look at it like this:

The human body is a lot like Mother Earth, right? Same sort of eco-system in a broad sense? Kindred?

Does it do the human body any good to smoke?

Yet here we have people doing exactly that; legally. Does that make it right & good & wholesome and decent?

I'm not one who will ever tell someone else what they can or cannot, should or should not do; but I CAN and DO point out what I observe.

I see Mother Nature starting to cough like a 2-pack/day smoker. And even at that, I'm not going to tell the smoker to do something they don't WANT TO DO.

Anti-Smoker Nazi's are not a lot different from AGW Nazi's; they have the best of intention & sometimes's go way beyond the reality in front of them. And they go to hyperbole; and, yes, lie's.

When you see a friend, a life-long smoker, coughing up little bits of life on an increasing basis, what do you do?

I will not believe you if you say you take away their smoke!

I suspect what you do is increasingly inhibit their opportunity to smoke.

I further suspect that you don't want to cause your smoker great angst, but DO know that if they would just give up the self-imposed poisoning, the cough would go away. And they would live longer. And that you would have the happiness of having them around longer.

It is 'just so' with what's called 'global warming'.

All the rant & screed & BS regarding GW is nothing more than what EDUCATION has done for reducing the ranks of smokers' who still want to smoke ... -and yet listened, grudgingly, to someone who had their best interest at heart.

And quit.

I have much more to say on this, but I wonder:
If smoking is so bad, why is it still legal?

Something to do with profit, dollars, margin, jobs and the like I bet. Which illustrates the REAL deal going on.

Posted by: DanS. on November 19, 2007 11:29 PM

DanS-
No offense, but your analogy is crap. I, as a smoker, know that I am slowly killing myself with every drag. I don't deny that in any shape or fashion, nor will I argue about it. At the same time, who's to say that breathing forklift fumes for 1/2 a decade didn't contribute, or breathing elk farts didn't melt the earth. Fact is, that none of us know, but some claim it's the end-all-be-all of human existance while flying private jets to spew the "message of Mother Earth." What a joke!

One difference here: We all know that we are all born, and we all die! Some from stupidity, some from suicide, some from car accidents, some from war, some from old age, some from cancer. Bottom line is that we all die. That can't be disputed. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...

AGW on the other hand, can be disputed and is. Do you have any proof as to the world coming to an end because that bright yellow thing up there is stalking us as we exist and because I like to bbq and ride around town in my gas-guzzler?

Comparing AGW to a smoker is crap and you know it. Please excuse me while I get off my high horse and fire up the dirtbike while leaving the lights on, and the A/C running...

Maybe in the meantime, you'll ask Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, and Gore while they fly around in private jets, carry concealed, and drive around in gaz-guzzlin' SUV's while asking us to refrain...

Posted by: CharlieDelta on November 20, 2007 01:32 AM

CD:

You KNOW I like & Respect you which is why I say:

Charlie, you ignorant slut!

I wouldn't know Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein or Gore from YOU if y'all stood right in my face.

You, as a smoker, KNOW that you are doing harm and yet would condemn another for doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING, albeit in a different fashion.

Do you ENCOURAGE another to do as you do? Harm-to-Self, I mean? Of COURSE you don't!

You know DAMN WELL I wasn't commenting on what 'can be disputed'! You know DAMN WELL I was commenting on what we do in SPITE .. yes, ..SPITE of what we know to be better.

Quit blaming other's for doing what YOU do yourself .... -TO yourself.

All your Pelosi/Gore heroes can do as they please and they too will get the wrath that I am laying on you. If YOU are not making the World a better place, it makes no matter to me whom you blame. You are part of the problem, not any kind of solution.

We BOTH know who is doing the bad.

Do me a favor? Google 'projection'?

You are better than blaming the 'other' for all the ill in the World!

It's YOU & ME! Brother, can't you see?

Blaming another does US no good. Sure, it's easier, feels good, and deflects anything that might pop-up in the shaving-mirror, but it's the EZ road to hell now, ain't it?

Posted by: DanS. on November 20, 2007 02:11 AM

You, as a smoker, KNOW that you are doing harm and yet would condemn another for doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING, albeit in a different fashion.
-Wrong Dano. Wrong. I take responsiblity for my own actions, instead of blaming others for theirs. It just so happens that I can afford what I do to myself. I'm not asking you for anthing. Responsibility Dano. Responsiblity.

If YOU are not making the World a better place, it makes no matter to me whom you blame. You are part of the problem, not any kind of solution.
-My point exactly! If you're not a part of the solution, you're part of the problem. I pull my own weight and take care of myself, and don't expect tax-paying Americans to wipe my nose for me. I guess that's the major difference between libs and cons...

Do me a favor? Google 'projection'?
-Got a mirror?

Sure, it's easier, feels good, and deflects anything that might pop-up in the shaving-mirror, but it's the EZ road to hell now, ain't it?
-Not sure what you're talking about there dude, but if I choose to take the EZ way to hell, shouldn't that be my choice and not yours or the gummints? Like I said, it's all about decisions, good or bad, but I will face the music when it comes at me, may it be good or bad. I'll face it. Just do me a favor and make sure you don't trip all over the endless bodies in the street! If you trip over mine, make sure you buy Ray a beer for me, and don't slip on the bloody curb...

Posted by: CharlieDelta on November 20, 2007 02:28 AM

DanS.......Geeezzzseeeessss!!!!

Get ahold of yourself man ....you are making a spectacle of yourself again. You want to feel guilty & wander around with a doom & gloom cloud of self pity over your head ....fine! But lay off pointing fingers at others who accept the reality of Global Warming being a BS story from the fairy tale story book of the wackoloon environmentalists.

Just how many times have these prognosticators of impending extinction for mankind have to be wrong before you can see the fallacy in the story they preach? How many computer models have to changed or discarded before you understand it is a political agenda not a scientific truth? When will realization for the fact this planet is subject to change, always has been & always will come over you?

The history of every species including man has been the ability to adapt to an everchanging dynamic world. All of the scenarios as postured by AlGore & others have happened multiple times before, we either learn to adapt or we will go extinct as has 95 % of the species ever to have evolved on this planet. It is amazing to me that intelligent people such as yourself buy this crap from the environmentalists as reality when they cannot get a weather forecast correct for the next 24 hours let alone ever hope to be able to alter climatic change. Come on Dan....you are smarter then this!

For ALL the idiots who believe this global warming crap, here's a little memory jog from 1974. I remember all the hysterics in the media. I'm surprised this article is still accessable.

Holy crap. Off topic here. Hey Denny, the hell is going on in Riverdale, Georgia? Michelle Bruce, the transgendered city council member being sued? She/he/it misled voters by running as a woman? Where the fuck do these people come from and why are they in our government? DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is funny when these "scientist" make models of the climate or weather. When one part is glaringly incorrect, they still claim that everything else that has not been proven wrong is correct.

Posted by: Mark on November 20, 2007 11:34 PM

I love that we/some are able to see past the dopey AGW crapola. I write to the dopey companys who advert on the TV who brag about going green. Like the rental car place for example, I tell them that I don't care if more than their logo is green, does that mean that they can justify higher rental rates? I won't rent from them if they are going to repeat this propaganda.
DanS do you live near a geyser? Is Mother(Earth) coughing and wheezing near you? Your smoking analogy is just plain weird man. I smoke. So what? I've smoked on and off since I was 11. Good thing too, they say that it's the second hand smoke that'll get 'cha!
I believe that Sir Dudley has already handed your ass to you on a bed of tin foil-so I won't tease you any further. ;)
Sir Duds, good luck to your Grandson with his new rational/radical thinking at his school. I hope that he fairs better than my son did. My kid had a huge course grade based on a topic of 3 choices. He chose -of course- zero tolerance of weapons on school grounds and in society in general. He wrote a great paper, well reasoned, well written for a young kid. I only proof read. They gave him a crap grade, based on the obvious political beliefs of his 'parents'. Just an example posed in support of your grandson, I hope that kinda crap doesn't fall on his head.

Posted by: LisaKay on November 21, 2007 07:35 AM

Not ALL our kids are being taught this stuff. I teach high school science in TN, and whenever anyone asks me about "Global Warming" I tell them there is no credible evidence to support it, invite them to look at Nasa's web site (which shows nothing but vague trends in weather for decades), and to read Michael Chrichton's STATE OF FEAR. No one has slapped my wrist, no one has said I should "toe the line", so to speak, and except for the lack of snow days, it wouldn't strike me as such a bad thing anyway. BTW, I just came back from the Tennessee Science Teachers Association convention a week ago - presenting scientists/professors there seemed mildly embarrassed by the whole "Global Warming" concept and didn't really want to talk about it.

Posted by: dmull on November 21, 2007 10:13 PM

Kudos to you dmull for teaching in a reasonable fashion. In my goofy state of MN, the NEA/MEA and all other unions are god-like to the zombies who blindly follow. The public schools here are pretty bizarre. Thing is, parents need to be more aware and take the time to not let them get away with all the BS that they try to get by with.

Posted by: LisaKay on November 22, 2007 05:42 AM

And since China is gonna surpass us as the world's biggest producer of greenhouse gases next year, that pretty much makes Kyoto ineffective.

What is the population of China? Given that people produce methane, they may have already surpassed us.
