Non sequitur. Talking about two unrelated topics. But let's cover his second topic. Milton Friedman once stated that if tax increases would fix the deficit, it would have vanished years ago. The problem is not taxes, but spending. The gummint is actually awash in revenues from the Bush tax cuts (just like it was with the Reagan tax cuts). Unfortunately, Congress, whether it be Republican or Dimocrat does not know how to cut spending. And Chimpy McHaliburton Bushitler, didn't veto a single spending bill when the Republicans controlled Congress. The Dims said they were gonna cut earmarks. Yeah. They're actually up this year. Thanks for keeping your promise Nancy.
Another vent:
To Jane: You're still looking as good at 70 as you did in 1966. As a young Marine, I had a teenage crush on you after seeing one of your movies, but you broke my heart on that Vietnam thing.
Yeah. I loved the bitch in Cat Ballou and Barbarella. When she returned from Viet Nam, after stabbing our troops and our country in the back, she should have been tried for treason and lined up against a wall and been shot. The AJC actually published a guest op-ed about Hanoi Jane.
Among those who protested the Vietnam War were many honorable, patriotic and faithful citizens. Fonda was not one of them. Well, she certainly did protest, but if she was a faithful citizen and patriotic, it must have been for another country. Her anti-American roots are evident to any reporter setting willful blindness aside long enough to do some research.In November 1970, in a speech to University of Michigan students, Fonda said, "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become Communist."
Shortly thereafter at Duke University in North Carolina she said, "I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism."
A year later Fonda said at the University of Texas, "We've got to establish a socialist economic structure that will limit private profit-oriented businesses. Whether the transition is peaceful depends on the way our present governmental leaders react."
What always amazes me is the number of rich people who are communists. Don't they know that if their dream came true they would not be wealthy? If you look at any communist country today, the majority of the population are poor. It is only a small elite ruling class that is well off, and even those folks are nowhere near as wealthy as someone like Hanoi Jane.
One more vent. This one I love.
If you believe parking your SUV will stop global warming, then you might as well try driving a stake in your backyard to stop continental drift.
