Yep! The mountains north of Los Angeles just got hit by a big ol' bunch of global warming; about six inches of it. Thanks to Jacob for the link.
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Jackknifed tractor-trailers Thursday blocked a stretch of Interstate 5 in Southern California, stranding at least 300 people on a snowy mountain pass, the California Highway Patrol said.
It's a good thing we have global warming or this could have been worse.
Emergency crews worked to open the highway for 300 to 400 vehicles traveling north and south on I-5's Tejon Pass near Gorman, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Ehly. The interstate remained shut for 40 miles south of Bakersfield to north of Santa Clarita, Ehly said.
Maybe this is just normal winter weather.
Ehly said he expects the massive traffic jam to end by noon Thursday at the earliest. The area hasn't had a scene such as this in about seven years, he said.
Seven years. Has anyone checked to see if Pope Albert I of the Church of AGW was in the vicinity? This sounds a lot like the Gore Effect.
This person loves global warming. If I lived in Illinois during the winter, I would too. I spent the winter of 1966 At Great Lakes Naval Training Center attending electronics school. I lived off base. I remember the wind howling off Lake Michigan. I remember that one week the temperature didn't get above 0. I remember a neighbor digging oil out of his car because he used 30 weight oil. I could have used some global warming. I spent the winter of 1978 in Chicago attending IBM computer basic school. Three bodacious blizzards. That was where I learned about lake effect snow. Coulda used some global warming back then.
Right. Global warming. It's -30 degrees in Chicago today, my friend. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

And is it is NOT Cold- It IS FREAKING COLD!
Posted by: DebbieKinIL on January 24, 2008 03:09 PMI've seen times in Cleveland when your tires freeze to the asphalt. That's a pisser after you it takes you an hour to shovel snow to get access to your car and then discover that it won't move. Hot water does the trick though.
Posted by: gene on January 24, 2008 03:16 PMI did a Chicago winter in '64 busting freight and baggage at O'Hare. I'm glad global warming waited until I'm old enough to need it, otherwise it woulda got really cold last night instead of the balmy -22 we got in Northwest Iowa.
Posted by: Dadgum on January 24, 2008 04:18 PMIf it wasn't for global warming we in NE Nevada would have been much colder than the -22 at my house this morning.
Posted by: Alan on January 24, 2008 04:57 PMVery cold here tonight in Chicagoland. Minus something or other. All I know is I am here curled up in bed not willing to move untill its time to go to work. Forecast is for more snow. More shoveling of the driveway. Fifth time already. Must be that Global Warming I keep hearing about. Oh my aching back!
