I made it home. Finally!
High clouds when we awoke this morning. Will we make it? Will we?
We got to the Aspen airport. Checked it. Weather still looking good. The inbound from Salt Lake City was running late. Still looking good. Visibility over three miles. It got in! Now it's time to load all the crips.
We're lucky my brother-in-law goes on these trips. We needed an aisle chair to get the crips on the bus to the airport. The same thing getting off the bus. It's not an easy procedure. Then, of course we needed aisle chairs to get on the plane. I'm able to walk enough to get on and off the bus and down the aisles of planes so I don't need an aisle chair which does help speed things up.
To get out of Aspen, all we need is two miles visibility. The weather was closing in. Hurry up! They have to de-ice the wings. Hurry up!
Taxiing out to the runway, the pilot hit the brakes once and we went into a little skid. Finally, we took off. Beat the weather.
We made it to Salt Lake and they held the connecting flight for us. The flight took off a half hour late but there was a 150 knot tail wind and we got to Atlanta on time.
There were two people on a later flight out of Aspen and they didn't make it. The weather closed in and no flights could get in or out.
But we made it! I'm home! Now it's back to what passes for normal around here.
Posted by denny at February 7, 2008 10:09 PMGlad you made it back in one piece Denny. I bet your cats are pissed! Well, on the other hand, I'm sure they're glad to see ya...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on February 7, 2008 10:31 PMWelcome back, Denny. You didn't miss much except for the biggest slap in the face of the conservative base in the history of our Party.
Posted by: Paul on February 7, 2008 10:58 PMHurrah! Three times! With this type of weather it's scary just to get on the plane. Brave people all of you. Glad you're home safe and sound.
I can hardly wait for Saturday Bach, Dennis. All I heard all week, even on Canadian TV, are USA political news. What do I know!!! Although I have my own opinions, which I keep to myself before one of you send me back home again to my own nutty politicians.
I know it's Denny, not Dennis. Politics drive me crazy! Music soon, please...

Claudia, just hop a little to the South. Better yet, just take a plane down to Meh-hic-o and you can walk North across the border like it's nothing. Why not? Pedro and Jorge' do it every day… why should you be any different? It's not like our politicians are going to do anything about it...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on February 8, 2008 02:26 AMGlad you made it back. I hate the snow now that i'm a crip. Lots of hot temps and hot women.
As i tell my dates in the dark even i look good.
Posted by: Mike on February 8, 2008 02:49 AMMaybe this tune will help. Just make sure you learn Spanish whether you like it or not. Unless The United States finally wakes up, this will be the new national anthem...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on February 8, 2008 02:55 AMClaudia-
At least you have borders (of some sorts). We don't even have that! Around every corner is the "racist" card, the "KKK" card, and the "card" card. It has nothing to do with racism. It has nothing to do with the Klan, but it has EVERYTHING to do with Nationalism...
Because the Minute MEN step up to the plate, the State of Kalifornia chooses to shit on them.
Check this out...
Sorry, Claudia, I'm not picking on you, I just want you to know what you're gettin' in to if you think our politicians are any better than yours.
Posted by: CharlieDelta on February 8, 2008 04:09 AMCharlieDelta: Good morning!
You must work a night shift. Four comments to Claudia from 2.26 am to 4.09 am. I never thought that your politicians are better than the ones in my country. In a previous post, I mentioned once that SOME of your politicians were nuts. And someone told me that the ones in my country were not any better. I've been quiet ever since. In any case you don't want ME to hop in your country at any border. I'm born in Canada but I have French blood. Please don't send me to France's national anthem. I don't like that country anymore than you all do. They let Wolfe beat Montcalm on the Plains of Abraham, in Québec. They are lousy soldiers. But I love my language, my culture and French wines. You would not want me to contaminate any of your states, even if I do take a shower (sometimes two) every day!
Denny- Please let me continue to listen to Bach, on Saturday. I promise I'll never say a word again. In English, in French, in Spanish, in Classical Latin and Greek. A French-Canadian woman does not need words to say: I love you, and your blog.
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on February 8, 2008 10:18 AMClaudia, don't even know you and I like ya. Like many of us here, you come across as an equal opportunity offender which is a very important character trait to possess in today's world. Thick skin, the ability to not get offended, and the ability to point out the shortcomings of others are not only imperative for people nowadays, but so is the ability to admit our own fallabilities (unless your talking to a Liberal Dimocrat, you never show your hand with those psychos). So I can't speak for others here, but I took your comments of politicians in stride and would worry if anyone thought their own politicians (doesn't matter which country you hail from) weren't a bunch of loons.
Welcome home, Denny!
Just in time for another Wine Debauch.
Posted by: Elisson on February 8, 2008 01:50 PMClaudia, I would think that you and your comments are most welcome. We've put up with Silly Sally, and quite a few french trolls as well as the home groan brew.
A little spice from a saucy Canuk isn't gonna hurt.
But Claudia, you are wrong on your assertion. ALL of our politicians are nuts. When the day comes that a sane honest person gets sent to Washington, the wolves there will feast on his entrails. We send our wack jobs to Washington just to be RID of em.
CD, Ray, Jeremy-
This Canuk woman aint crazy! I have nothing to prove and I have no intention to enter your political debates. I'm listening to all of you with attention. You have a great country. The whole world is interested. A lot of us depend on you to remain strong and sane. I would not want to have to vote in your next elections. I offer my sympathy for the problems you are facing.
