Hey, who let the white guy in?

(see first couple on line 2)

Would have been even better if the composer put a first ending with repeat sign, and then a bigger "second ending."

Ha! That is NOT a prelude. That's a fugue if I've ever seen one!

Or a whole lotta toccotta.

Thanks for the sheet music. Tried hard to play the Prélude. The notes kept moving. Must be my computer. Will try once more later on. Thanks again.

Claudia, it takes two to play that tune.
Try again when the old man gets home.

Just one minor quibble. It's written in the key of F, not D-flat.

Posted by: Ralph Gizzip on March 6, 2008 07:43 PM

This is actually a duet; also known as a piece for four hands.

There's some triads in there, too.

Jeremy - The Old Man (whoever he is) ain't musical.

Ralph Gizzip - Lots of quibbles. In good French the title should read: PRÉLUDE DE LA FORNICATION. (whatever that is). An accent grave on the É. DU is DE LA in feminin. The flat should be on the third line, not the fourth. Too many notes or rests in some measures. However the tempo seems to be well kept. For how long will they be at it? That is the question...

Hey I see no Framatas!!!!!

Posted by: ty guy on March 7, 2008 03:50 AM

Denny - 24 hours later. Those poor people are still at it! Couldn't you write a finale? Or at least a tenuto?

Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 7, 2008 01:42 PM

Yes, lots of things wrong... but still amusing! To echo Claudia, it's not even in the key of F. If it were, the flat would be on the B-line of the staff (for B-flat). There is no such key with only a flat on the D-line. The key of D-flat has five flats. And sorry, Ty, it's a "fermata," not framata.

"I'm a fermata- hold me!" (A Facebook group... Then again, I created a Facebook group called, "Musicians make worse lovers.")

And, the clef should really encircle the second line (G, for G clef). As it is, it's really more around the second space (A).

I no longer play, but I will always be a music dork :-)

All of us, high-class music critics, are probably just jealous because we haven't been invited to be one of the notes...

AnnaD-
I no longer play, but I will always be a music dork :-)

Cheers to the music dorks for life. I'm a card-carrying member...

Charlie, my dorkdom is double... I used to be a music major and quit. I transferred 65 music credits, so to get through college the fastest I'm still a music major, but will end up with a biology and chemistry double minor. Graduate in May summa cum laude, finally! I'm going to be a physician's assistant, although my true love will always be orchestral music.

It's pretty funny- all of my science friends are worried about various research experiments right now, and I'm concerned about my thesis paper on the yin & yang in Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde." LOL.

CD - A music dork? I'm impressed! Which ignoramus ever said that you were boring? :-)

Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 8, 2008 01:17 PM

Claudia-
I'm a music dork because I don't know what I would do with myself if it wasn't there. Not in the sense that I am really good or knowlegeable or anything like that. I just really enjoy it and like the challenge of learning new things. To me the guitar is like golf. You have to have a lot of patience or it's not going to work. That's why I don't play golf. My Mom made me take piano lessons when I was too young to grasp the concept, so that never took. Most of the guitar I play is either self-taught or learning by playing with other people, but I still suck. Enter the drums...

You would laugh your ass off if you ever saw me at a concert. I'm the guy air-guitarin' and air-drummin'. THAT is why I would really consider myself a music dork.

I have been looking into the "Theory of Guitar" classes at the local Jr. College, but they only offer the course while I'm @ work, so I will keep on keeping on until the moment arrives.

Yeah, I know that was a bit long-winded, but I've had a few and that's what tends to happen. Happy Saturday! I'm looking forward to crankin some Sunday Metal when I get home tomorrow. Take care and buckle up for some METAL!! :-)

Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 8, 2008 07:17 PM

CD - I'm the same. I can't be without music either. The main reason I came to this blog was for the Saturday Music. But I'm scared of METAL. I know nothing about it. I listen but it doesn't make sense to me.

I'm always long-winded whether I drink or not!:-)
Good-luck with your guitar. Cheers!

Three chirps for all of us music dorks! God love us? hahaha. I became a card carrying member of the dork club early on. I came home from 2nd grade one day so inspired by my music teacher that I had convinced myself that I was going to write a symphony! I was so fired up that I got out the notebooks and my multi colored pens, only to realize that I didn't have a clue. My parents just grinned through my pouting and bought me a piano and lessons much later. I still can't seem to make music sound good on the thing. Argh.
