Part of Pictures at an Exhibition. The last part, The Great Gate of Kiev, was awesome! Especially when he works the chimes in.
Posted by denny at March 29, 2008 03:38 PMIt's a fantastic arrangement, a great player. I like his Promenade version as much as the original one for piano. You're right about "The Great Gate of Kiev" and it could not be done with the piano. I wish he had played the whole composition. It's superb. Thank you, Denny.
My first comment on your blog was with Saturday Bach. The second one was with the little people assembling to write: BORED. I told you: "Yes! Bored with politic." I'm still bored with little politic. Your real enemies are not black people and illegal immigrants. They're only financial nuisance and irritation.
Your ENEMY (capital letters) is Islam. And the country to worry about is Iran. That enemy will destroy you (and all of us.) If you hear that an old Canadian lady has been arrested by the R.C.M.P., the FBI and the CIA, for sending messages to the President about nuking Iran in the next month or so, think of me! If he doesn't do it, Iran will do it to USA at the first opportunity. By waiting, USA is just giving the enemy a better chance to succeed. They're the people to worry about. And they're all around us.
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 29, 2008 05:08 PMClaudia - If you go out to YouTube you can find him doing other portions of Pictures. I picked that particular one because I like the Hut of Baba Yoga and the Great Gates of Kiev and was interested in how they would sound on guitar. I used to be able to play the Promenade on the piano. If I ever get around to getting it tuned, I think I'll relearn it. It's easier than it looks.
Of course we realize that Islam is our enemy. I post on it often. That's when CD, Rob, and Patrick really get going. That's why I posted Fitna. This is also when DanS gets a little freaky. He views everything through Viet Nam and to him, no war is justified any more. That's one of the reasons we go after Jug Hussein Ears, Thunder Rodent Thighs, and the rest of the Dimocrat Party. They somehow think that we can coexist with these 7th Century barbarian savages. It was Dimocrat accommodation and lack of response to terrorism that led to 9/11. It was the only reason I voted for GWB. He was the only one who was willing to wage the GWOT. God knows I have been very disappointed in his domestic policy.
Denny - I'm just back from YouTube to listen to his other videos. He is good but he is best in the final. I actually came back to tell you that I was able to play the Promenade by ear after listening to the pianist who is also on YouTube. I remember you saying that you had learned it. It's a nice piece to play. You would enjoy doing it again. Now that the snow is gone, I'll go to the music store this week and buy the sheet music.
Domestic policies are important of course but it bores me to death. In my country too! Politicians never do what they say they will do. They do too much, or too little. They also legislate morality. The laws on drugs are ridiculous. As prohibition was. When we elect someone we never know which trick he is going to pull out of his hat.
Nevertheless, presently none of that matters very much if you're attacked by the Islamic world. That's my fear. As things are, President Bush is already in deep trouble all over the world because of Iraq. Before he goes, I wish he would do something about Iran. He would not be very popular. But so what! I'm convinced that Iran is just waiting for the elections to invade Iraq. And your foolish candidates are talking about stopping the War. And the Muslim are soaking all that. Imagine how weakened, how isolated your soldiers must feel in Iraq. Both sides candidates should be talking about re-enforcing the military presence in Iraq. Still 8 months to go after all before a new president. If I were Bush, I would make a big show of strenght before leaving. The Muslim people will sacrifice everything to destroy us. It's scary.
Anyhow thanks for the music!
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 29, 2008 07:23 PMWhat a madman! The sounds coming from that guitar really freaked out my cats, and it was funny. They didin't know WTF to do but scramble...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 29, 2008 09:01 PMDenny - Thanks! I just watched Fitna. It re-enforces what I already knew. Scary! I don't know if we're the type of people who can fight fanatics like them. They're savages...
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 29, 2008 09:03 PMClaudia: Have you seen Obsession? It is unnerving.
Posted by: Peggy U on March 29, 2008 09:38 PMNow Hear This!
A) ELP is the Music Within My Head for neigh on 40 years now! DO NOT DENIGRATE THEM!
B) Claudia is as phony as I am when it comes to ditching Denny's Blog.
C) It's just another Saturday night here at GOC, ain't it!
D) You may all go trowel your belief's as you see fit; Yer Prezident is perhaps dumber than I ever ascribed to myself!
E) Charlie Delta was & is a Child of Nebraska! Ain't sure why that's a bad thing ...

Wrong again! Born and raised in SD.
What in the hell does that have to do with this guy shreddin on the guitar?
Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 30, 2008 01:41 AMDenny - Apart from CD, nobody ever comes on Saturday Guitar. I thought I could say a few words to you peacefully, without having to hear nonsense and jibes.
It's impossible isn't? And you can't stop it. That's what my son said. "There's nothing Denny can do, Mom. A blog is public unless he would sreen all comments and delete them. It's not his policy, plus on this blog there are too many." I'm new at the internet and I didn't know that.
I guess that's it then. I'm too old Denny. I can't take it. It upsets me terribly when somebody taunts me. I had given up the rest of the blog. I guess I'll have to give up Saturday Guitar too because I can't listen to music and not share with you what I feel. And anyone else can jump in and address me, or pass a derogatory remark. I'm crying so hard. Saturday morning, 9.30 a.m. and I'm crying like if I had lost something very dear to me. And I'm 78. Isn't it stupid? That's why my son said, "Give it up, Mom. You're too sensitive. This sort of blog is not for you. There's nothing Denny can do."
Thank you for your courtesy, and your attention to my words. I don't know much but I have a feeling for your country, and much love and respect, and at the moment much fear for its survival. And for all of us. We depend so much on what happens to USA. You had to jump in and save Europe once. And nobody is jumping to help you now. It's horrible. If you go to RedCap blog, you will see that the United Nations has condemned the Fitna video. For "offending" the Moslem!!!Not one word about them wanting to kill all of us.
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 30, 2008 09:50 AMDenny - Of course, it's Sunday morning, not Saturday. I'm still all there, although sometimes I doubt it...but I also doubted it when I was 35 and the children ragged me!!!
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 30, 2008 09:59 AMDenny - Nobody else needs to come and address me. I'm not interested in a community approach to a blog. When I leave a comment on another blog, sometimes the owner will reply to it if necessary. Nobody else.
You're not a stranger, Denny, because you tell us who you are, where you live, what you do, what you believe in etc.etc. Except Dudley1, everybody else is a stranger. CharlieDelta made me very aware of that. And I'm not interested in what they wish to say to me. And I'm not interested in saying anything to them. There is a generation gap. Nothing I can do about it. I wish I could...
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 30, 2008 10:28 AMDear Claudia,
Chill out okay? We're both snow birds are we not? If you say something on a blog, some may agree some may not. No big whoop. It's nothing to take personally. The fun of it all is that you are here, so while you are here, if someone bugs you, the best thing to do is come up with a stinging retort-and if it's comical-all the better!
Claudia: Last communication, I promise. Since you brought up Fitna in this thread, I thought my comment was germaine to the conversation. I didn't realize I wasn't allowed to reply to anything you wrote. However, I will refrain from doing so in the future. In fact, I think if you leave a comment on a thread I will cease to so as not to be misconstrued as bothering you.
Posted by: Peggy U on March 30, 2008 04:29 PMDenny - This is way too familiar. I'm nobody's "Dear Claudia" on this blog. I choose a different lifestyle. I respect friends and I avoid annoying them. It's a weird sort of fun to insult a stranger and to be insulted in return with a sick sort of humour... Silence, both ways, is much more honourable and classy. I'm always willing to engage in a serious discussion with someone who objects to one of my opinions but I never resort to "stingy retort" and inuendo. It's my strenght, not a weakness. I doubt very much that I will change my ways just to be able to comment on blogs. It's a question of dignity.
Now some people will want to comment on what I've just written. I'm not interested, I repeat NOT INTERESTED! (CAPITAL LETTERS) in reading them. I'm leaving this page which was so pleasantly started.
Once again, thank you for the music, Denny. It was a gift. You have the talent of finding something, every Saturday, which gives me delight. Isn't it sad that some people came and commented on me instead of on the richness you offered? I don't say I'll never come back but I doubt I'll ever say anything else again but "Thank you!" Of course, one never knows. Life is so unpredictable. Something could happen this week which would truly warrant the need of a few words. I hope it would be something pleasant, not a tragedy. I had enough of those in my lifetime...
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 30, 2008 05:08 PMPeggy - I'll be nowhere. Don't stop having fun for my sakes. It will never be again at my expense.
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 30, 2008 05:21 PMA friend just sent me to the last thread where LisaKay says "Aurevoir" using the word that had been upsetting me, and Peggy defends her sense of humour and never had the sensitivity to understand why I used a word her mother would never have said. I'm incredibly surprised that both of them addressed me today, and thought that I would wish to communicate with them. I'm not Sally or DanS.
I'm just an old woman who loves USA and wanted to speak nicely with some Americans who had the same political ideology.
I spoke to Denny today because he has always treated me with courtesy. I would also speak to Dudley1 and his wife for the same reason.

Trying to rationalize with Claudia is like trying to talk to a brick wall. It's futile. For some reason she gets bent out of shape around every corner and takes everything personal as if we have some kind of vendetta against her. That's Okay. She doesn't realize that the world doesn't revolve around her. I appreciated her comments and her insight, but at this point, I really don't give a rat's ass for a Canadian's perspective.
Apparantly her son has something to do with it. I really dont give a shit. The drama is too much for me. Life is too short to deal with this bullshit drama, this bullshit drama, THIS BULLSHIT DRAMA.
Don't change a thing, LisaKay. We love you for who you are, who you are, WHO YOU ARE!!!
Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 30, 2008 10:50 PMThat's mad!
Posted by: pdwalker on March 31, 2008 02:12 AMI think Bartok would have been pleased with that rendition
Posted by: pdwalker on March 31, 2008 02:17 AM" I don't give a rat ass for a Canadian perspective." C.D.
I agree. And with everything else you say, CharlieDelta.I feel totally liberated. You took a big weight off my shoulder. Thank you!
Posted by: Claudia in Toronto on March 31, 2008 04:11 AMDenny -
It wasn't a Canadien perspective but a Claudian perspective, And believe me she knows nothing. Now if you want to talk about Music and French wines that's different. And a lot more fun...See you next Saturday. Have a good week with politics!
