My Other Car Is A BMW

Here's a picture of the 2005 325i I bought a few months back. I took this picture this morning as I was loading up.

I wanted to get a 2008, but I need to put a bunch of money into my house (new master bathroom plus finishing up the kitchen) so I bought this one. Three years old with 25000 miles on it. Half the price of a new one.

Definately a nice set o' wheels. Looks pretty clean too!

The "Damn Cajuns!" rain cleaned you up pretty good!

I bet that you were stopped at a Cracker Barrel along the interstate.

Posted by: Woody on June 26, 2008 04:18 PM

Woody - Nope. That was at a Drury Inn. There was a Cracker Barrel nearby.

Beautiful, Denny. Definitely my type. Style, size and colour. You have good taste, Sir.

Road trips are always nice. Just so much nicer with the drop top of your other baby. But that is from a guy that has had at least one, and as many as four rag tops in my garage since high school (40 years ago).
But if you have to be encased completely, nothing nicer than that.
Have huge fun.

Ehi guy, next time you must get a Ferrari or an Alfa Romeo! Perhaps with Ferrari the problem is that if you buy a three years car, the price may be the same of a new one...

Posted by: paolodilautreamont on June 26, 2008 07:10 PM

Chuck - My road trips in the little car are at an end unless I travel with someone else to manhandle my luggage. Solo, I need to cart my wheelchair along. It will fit in the front seat of the Z3, but I prefer not to do that.

Paolo - I can no longer drive a stick shift so that leaves the Ferrari out. I would so love to have one.

VERY NICE

My good friend in Dayton is on her 3rd or 4th used (oops, pre-owned) BMW. Always gently used, great dealer service she says. She's up into the 5 somthing series model now. It always turns heads. She swears that in the long run, it still probably costs less than buying a new GM or some such.

I only buy used cars. got the accura I am in right now (03 TL type S) 1 year old for 40% off orignal price, with 18k miles on it, and 100k powertrain warranty. no brainer. same deal on my wifes Yukon, except it was 1 year old and 1/2 price. people lament over which mutual fund to buy while this can save/make you many thousands of $.

I always liked the Drury Inns, nice rooms and always clean. Do NOT EVER stay in the Executive Suites in Katy,Tx, That was a Class A shithole 6 years or so ago . Matter of fact just drive straight through Houston, don't stop until Schulenberg.

Holy Dang Big Den, you sneaky shit. When are you going to stop swiping my cars and passing them off as your own? The bit about me wanting to drive your car was cute for awhile...I'll forgive and forget AGAIN as long as you promise its safe return with a full tank of gas and a seafood cheesecake. Sheesh, darn kids....

Uh, a three year old Ferrari sells at quite a premium to list. Take a "starter" 8cyl 360 ragtop. In 2003, lists at 175K. Buy at list only if you have a working relationship (read bought other F-cars and waited three years) with a dealer, could be flipped for a 60K premium a day after bought. On 360's the price has been going down about 10K a year. A five year old car still has a premium of about 10K over list. Try to explain that to your insurance company.

Sweet car!

For several years I've been lucky that I've been able to put low mileage on 'em, working fairly close to home. Usually 4-5K a year, which is why I got such a great trade-in for my SC2 Saturn in exchange for my Sky Roadie in 2006. Just looked at the Sky odom...8847 since late Aug. '06.

Gas mileage sucks, but then it always has. I've never had a vehicle (a 1980-something Dodge Aspen, 1987 Honda Accord) that I got more than 25 MPG, city/hwy combined.

doug_S -

"explain that to your insurance company" -- a good problem to have, like having to pay too much income tax.

i think that new ferrari's now require the purchaser to sign an agreement with the dealership that they (the dealer) have right of first refusal in the first year of ownership in an effort to cut down on flippers. or so i've heard. i haven't had that problem since i don't spend money on cars and always buy 3+ years old.

Mo K -

i've the three mile commute as well. it's easy to complain about high gas prices, but with that little mileage, it really is only whining. it ain't gonna change what i do or drive.

cheers.

While I have not been coming here long, it seems odd for him to be gone for several days without posting. I hope all is okay.

ty guy -
Near perfect! You wrote it exactly the way a French woman would pronounce: S'il vous plait...

You're dying for boobage. I'm dying for Saturday Bach. They don't care! They're drinking Shiners, or trying to recuperate. They're near the water. Plenty of male-female boobage. Denny's plucking the guitar playing "Joy of my soul". They don't even know we exist...

See Post: June 24, 2008, "On The Road." Click on "Camp Blownstar." The bloggers are at a beautiful location, in Texas. Away from all of us, stick-in-the-mud people, who depend on them to be entertained. I think it was a brilliant idea. We don't appreciate what we have until we don't have it. Please, come back soon, Denny. Your absence is impairing my rehabilitation program.

Posted by: Claudia on June 29, 2008 03:51 PM

Gee, I wonder if he'll bring us anything?

Posted by: PeggyU on June 29, 2008 07:09 PM

For B Hussein we have hope and change.
Not all change is good, just ask the folks in Iowa, and here in Kansas.
