Boo freaking Hoo. The Atlanta Urinal and Constipation is bitching again about the Voter ID law her in Georgia. They do this at least once a month.
I like to play a little game with myself when reading AJC editorials. I try to guess who has written the editorial before I finish reading it. It's not a real tough game. If the editorial is about the Voter ID law, it is always written by Cynthia Tucker. If it's about Iraq, it's always written by Jay Bookman. Both of them are flaming libs.
I won the game. This editorial was written by Cynthia Tucker. What a surprise.
The Georgia Democratic Party lost its battle to prevent the state from enforcing a highly restrictive voter ID law in tomorrow's primary elections. But the party should keep up the fight. Little is more sacred in a representative democracy than the right to vote.
First off, we do not have a representative democracy. We have a constitutional republic. Big difference. As to the right to vote, Dimocrats want the dead to be able to vote. They get to do that in Chicago and many other places controlled by the Dims. They also like to allow people registered to vote in more than one state to be able to vote in multiple states. For example, one of the people who challenged the Indiana Voter ID law was registered to vote in Indiana and Florida. I know this will surprise y'all but she was a registered Dimocrat. I just wonder how many of the snowbirds in Florida are registered there and in their home states of New Jersey and New York.
On Friday, Fulton County Judge Tom Campbell declined to issue a temporary restraining order, which would have nullified the requirement for a state-sponsored photo ID —- at least temporarily. Secretary of State Karen Handel had argued that there would be "mass chaos" at the polls if the law were not enforced. That's highly unlikely. Handel, a Republican, is merely repeating the party line. The law was pushed through by the GOP-dominated Georgia Legislature.
Let's hear it for the GOP!
State Democrats are charging that the law violates the Georgia constitution. Although the U.S. Supreme Court unwisely validated a restrictive Indiana voter ID law, Justice John Paul Stevens, writing for the majority, held that state parties have standing to file lawsuits against the requirement, instituted by GOP-dominated legislatures around the country.
Sue away assholes!
Stevens and his colleagues caved in to a spurious conventional wisdom that asserts an epidemic of fake voters, although there is virtually no evidence that such voters exist. While voter fraud has certainly not been stamped out, it's usually carried out through absentee ballots. But state laws mandating a photo ID are designed to stop people from showing up at the polls and posing as someone else, a form of fraud about as likely as contact with intelligent extraterrestrials.
Riiiight Cindy. Keep on pounding that drum about there being no voter fraud. Like I said, in Chicago, dead people vote. There has also been massive voter fraud in St. Louis, much of it perpetuated by ACORN, the organization where Obama got his start as a "community organizer" in Chicago. And didja ever notice that whenever Dimocrats demand recounts they always seem to find more Dimocrat votes from somewhere? Remember how in the Washington gubernatorial election they kept counting and recounting the votes until the Dimocrat won?
The real reason that many Republican-dominated state legislatures rushed to adopt restrictive voter ID statutes is obvious: Those most likely to be turned away at the ballot box —- poor and elderly voters without driver's licenses —- tend to vote for Democrats.
Good. I don't think the poor should even be allowed to vote. If you don't pay taxes you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Over 90% of poverty is self inflicted. Screw the poor! (Except for those who, through no fault of their own, like a catastrophic accident or a catastrophic disease, find themselves in financial straits. I don't mind helping them. It's the parasites and leeches on society that I have no use for.)
In fact, elderly nuns who attempted to vote in a Democratic primary in South Bend in May were turned away from the polls because they lacked photo ID. The nuns, who don't drive and live in a convent, went to cast their ballots on the second floor of their building. Even though several poll workers, including other nuns, knew them, they were nevertheless barred from voting.
Oh those poor nuns! of course, what Cindy is omitting here is that a driver's license is not the only form of picture ID required. There are namy other picture IDs that are good at the polls. Georgia will provide a free state ID card. In fact, the state sent buses to every county in Georgia to provide state ID cards. They made it very easy for the poor and elderly to get these state ID cards. And how do the poor cash their welfare checks? Don't they have to have a picture ID for that? If you are not willing to go to the trouble to get some sort of picture ID, why should you even be allowed to vote? As usual, Cindy is making a mountain out of a molehill. I realize this is gonna piss off all the "community organizers" who like to round up homeless people and give them utility bills (one of the forms of ID that used to be OK to use) and take them to the polls.
As I said at the start, "Boo freaking Hoo!"

Why is it that the liberals claim "voter fraud" only when Republicans win elections? Does the left even comprehend how hypocritcal they look when they do this? Wait, no need to answer that.
BTW, the part about the nuns broke my heart. And I agree -- only taxpayers should be allowed to vote. I don't need any homeless parasites voting on how to spend my money. Fuck them.
Posted by: thatjerryguy on July 14, 2008 02:37 PMMaybe we all need to shove our thumbs into a bottle of purple ink. Then we can shove that thumb up the ass of the dipstick libs. Of course most of them are too busy sucking on their thumbs to be able to ink them. Arggh.
I get incensed when people are so obviously hypocritical and the MSM won't call them on it.
Posted by: Schmidty on July 14, 2008 04:10 PMThey also never clear the voter rolls, which allows people to spend the day on Election Day traveling from one precinct to another. And if the person happens to be dead, their Democrat precinct captain will cast their votes for them. I'm a member in good standing of the Deceased and Relocated Voters of Chicago, you know...
Requiring ID to vote also eliminates two other important Democrat constituencies: illegal aliens (including terrorists who come in through Mexico and Canada) and convicted felons. Come to think of it, I'm sure that there are Canadian snowbirds who vote. And let's not forget the important constituency of people in nursing homes who are demented or on life support.
I was just thinking about this today: Algore accusing George Bush of stealing the 2000 election came while he was trying to steal it from Bush. How ironic...
Posted by: John in May-retta on July 14, 2008 05:20 PMVoter eligibility.......
Were voters required to provide legitimate ID as well as be some form of contributing member of society......The Democratic party would lose upwards of 20/25% of their core base.
Our founders restricted the eligibility for prospective voters with the intent for actual voters to be those who were qualified, of intelligence & functioning members of society.
It is true that we have opened the voter rolls to some who were unfairly dis-enfranchised down thru the years & resolved long standing injustice`s. However we should not stand for the blatant fraud being perpetrated by the Democratic Party for many years to register the dead, provide for illegal multiple voting opportunities & outright non-existant people all to provide a safe base for the advancement of a liberal socialist agenda.
The problem is as I have said for years...the average citizen in this country does not take the responsibility of citizenship seriously nor do they have any comprehension their individual voting is being prostituted or compromised by the Democratic party.Compounding the problem is far too many liberal organizations such as the mainstream media turn a blind eye to this & give tacit approval as they believe the advancement of their liberal agenda is substantiated by the philosophy of the "End justifies the Means"
The end result is we all lose, the nation is weakened, the slide too national oblivion is accelerated & our future survival as a dominate society is really put in question.A free society or constitutional republic is the best form of government devised by man .....however it needs the active participation of an educated & informed populance to survive. Our forefathers recognized this & were correctly concerned as to the chances for this experiment to succeed. While we have made over 200 years , I question if 300 is achievable without some form of Patriotic intervention.
Posted by: dudley1 on July 14, 2008 06:42 PMYou dig into it, the Nuns where not taken by surprise. The requirement to show a photo ID HAD BEEN KNOWN FOR MONTHS! So essentially, the Nuns were too damn lazy to go down to the local DMV and get a non-driver ID card. Shows how seriously they took their RESPONSIBILITY to vote.
Posted by: GarandFan on July 14, 2008 09:28 PMWhat worries me is that some of the crooks at the polls will give a wink and a pass to their proxy voters.
Posted by: Jeremy on July 14, 2008 09:36 PMHere in Northern Illinois, it is well known that many of our fellow citizens go north into Wisconsin to vote. Wisconsin has an instant registration/vote system.
I suspect that many Illinois voters have had an effect on Wisconsin elections.
I am glad for GarandFan's comment. Here in texas an adult must have a state issued photo ID by law. evidently ditto in Indiana. I am Catholic, but those nuns broke the law.
I live in a republican and conservative hotbed. still only a small percentage actually vote. those running know who we are. they make their case to us consistently. It amazes me how many don't vote. by default they give me proxy, at least in local elections, which really do matter a lot.
maybe we could just have a reset, and male white land owners should be the ones voting. ;-)
Posted by: patrick on July 15, 2008 01:49 AMI have to laugh at the Phrase "to poor to get a drivers liscence" or that they don't drive!!!
My great aunt had a drivers liscence for her 91 years...AND NEVER DROVE!!!!!!!!

I imagine some have tried to use their food stamps!!!!
Bull Shit on TOO POOR!!!! for Photo ID
"Little is more sacred in a representative democracy than the right to vote."
Sacred all right, Ha. It was not a right until the 15th passed and for women not until 1920.
Posted by: Daryl on July 15, 2008 08:11 AMFor those who don't know, it was offered to the nuns to get them state ID cards, it was refused.
Posted by: ParatrooperJJ on July 15, 2008 09:15 AMI seem to remember when I registered to vote I was mailed an ID card. And when I changed precincts I was mailed a confirmation card. I would bet this is the case in every state. I think you should have to prove who you are to vote.
Posted by: Titan Mk6B on July 15, 2008 10:03 AMDaryl.....
If you reread Denny`s post & pay close attention, you will find we do not have a Representative Democracy ,we have a Constitutional Republic.
Secondly in my response "comment#4" I referenced the injustice you pointed out noting we as a society have moved to correct these injustices. While I agree to deny voting privilege based on ethnic or gender is wrong, I do believe requirements for intelligence, understanding & societal contribution are reasonable as long as these requirements transcend race & gender.
As I stated the fraud being perpetrated by the Democratic Party must cease as it violates the intent of the voting process & provides for repression of the true will of the people as constitutionally defined.
Posted by: dudley1 on July 15, 2008 10:18 AMLast October a Footloose-type dirty dancing and dress code incident kicked off a political firestorm in my Texas town. This led to a hotly contested school board and town council election in May.
A group of RINO and liberal mommies (one is a town council member herself) conducted a “rock the vote” registration drive at the local high school and then hosted a hayride to the polls for the newly minted voters. "Just vote the way mommy told you to, Junior".
Judging by standardized testing scores, these kids can barely form coherent sentences, much less have any knowledge of, or opinion toward, political decisions.
Voter ID is a must, but we need a way to filter out stupid and corrupt as well.
First of al there IS no federal "right to vote". Everytime I hear the phrase "voters rights" I want to go out and bash that person with a 2 by 4. Might just do anyway.
Posted by: Jerry on July 15, 2008 12:18 PMTry Oregon's "vote-by (buy) - mail" system......
There are instances of over 100 "voters" registered at a single 3 bedroom home in this state.
No voter fraud there.
John: Washington must have caught it from Oregon then.
Posted by: PeggyU on July 15, 2008 05:27 PMBoy does this bring back memories of a couple of years ago here in AZ. We passed a voter id law and the libs were pissed as the wet backs (yes i said that) i am not too pc, could not vote. They were claiming that the state was charging to vote as you needed to pay for a id, not really as you could use 2 utility bills with your name and address on it . So fuck them i want accountability at the polls.
Posted by: Greg1 on July 15, 2008 06:10 PMGreg1: What's a couple of utility bills? Especially if you have a Spanish surname - as there aren't really all that many of them. I hardly think that's enough identification to register someone to vote.
And why is it when I go to apply for a loan or a job I have to provide a bucket of proof that I am who I am and go through a background check and drug test as well? When I go for a medical visit, I have to prove that I have insurance and pay a little up front - but they still act as if you might stiff them! I've never had so much as a parking ticket, but I start to feel like a criminal under the magnifying glass! So how is it these people seem to slide through as if on greased wheels?
Posted by: PeggyU on July 15, 2008 07:07 PMI don't feel a bit sorry for them. I got a notice that my driver's license was up for renewal next month, and I have to take my birth certificate, social security card and proof of residence just to renew it. Oh yeah, don't forget the $20 for the license! If they had to do all that to vote, they'd crap!
Posted by: Denise on July 16, 2008 01:02 AMDenise-
If they had to do all that to vote they wouldn't vote. As is, they shouldn't vote! What a crock of shit it's become!
There should be ICE Officers waiting outside every polling place on Nov. 2nd. In my ideal world there would be...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on July 16, 2008 03:27 AMUnder the Homeland security laws, ALL US citizens must posses valid picture identification. All 50 states.
