It looks to me that Leonard Pitts (I think Leonard Shit is more accurate, but that's over-stating the obvious), is working very hard to win the Asshole Of The Week award.

First off, most conservatives I know got the satire. It's the seethe-at-the-slightest-perceived-insult liberals who came unhinged.

Secondly, the New Yorker has a tendency toward obscure humor. Does anyone here remember the Seinfeld episode where Elaine is obsessed with finding out what is so funny about one of their cartoons - only to discover that the magazine editor doesn't get it either? Maybe what passes for sophistication is simply a poorly developed sense of humor that others find inaccessible. Humor loses its punch when it has to be analyzed. Good comedy elicits an automatic, almost reflexive, reaction. Could it be that trying too hard to be witty backfired on them? No ... can't admit that, now can they? Gotta have a scapegoat. I bet when Mr. Pitts toots, he blames the dog too.

The New Yorker approach to satire is like the classic supervillain approach to killing. The preparation must be clever and convoluted - and it ultimately falls flat and fails to deliver.

I drove a school bus in the 'hood last year.

First week on the job, I was informed that I was a "Racist, cracker asshole" by the 5-6th grade black kids on the bus because I made them follow the rules instead of letting them run amok.

I was told I was racist because I referred to my bus as "The Primate House". I explained that there was no racism in my statement, it was merely an observation of behavior.

Go to the primate house at the zoo and watch the occupants... Screaming, screeching, fighting, throwing shit. Same same on my bus.

The NYT says T Boone Pickens welsched on his offer......They say so, no details, no explanation, they say so...... must be true.

Spoken like a true liberal puppet. First of all ....I believe in hearing both sides of an argument,we have a concept in this country which requires proof before conviction.If these alleged mysterious veterans do have the proof,bring it forward in a forum not clouded with the bias for which the NYT is famous for.

This is the same tactic which the liberal left has been using on GWB since he was elected.I find it suspect that any group challenged to produce one instance of fraud is able to accumulate 10 instances but it took 4 & 1/2 years....then instead of taking that evidence directly to T Boone Pickens thru legal channels, instead surfaces in a liberal rag like the NYT.

I think this story like so many found in the NYT is more then a little suspect.

In the swirling pot of Universal Laws, gravity being number one, there are also Absolutes - rules that everyone is subject to, regardless of what or how we view this world. Sowing and Reaping (Karma) is another inescapable law. This is why, in addition to creating a hostile work environment, the criminal element that masquerades as politicians, lawyers, and judges (one step above Child Molesters because they allow them to continue in their depravity), have to remove any reference to these Absolutes, and leads to Situational Ethics which removes all semblances of Right and Wrong.

It's not surprising that thin-skinned, always-the-victim-of-something liberals would be offended by this cartoon. Their reaction reminds me of the moslems getting all uppity (BTW, is "uppity" a racist term?) over moohammed cartoons.

In the liberals fairy-tale (BTW, is "fairy-tale" a homophobic term?) world everyone's a victim, everyone's oppressed, everything's a crisis, everyone's depressed.

I've never heard of them, but then, I don't consider the New York Slimes (All the news that fits our views) to be an objective source for news. Don`t forget that John Kerry who served in Viet Nam recieved an early out for his dubious war record. All he had to do when arriving home was to report to the Reserve center & serve in the reserve....attend meetings, go to summer camp,march in parades, etc & be a weekend warrior.

The truth is he never showed up at the reserve center , he never fullfilled his mandatory obligation & he was never reprimanded in any fashion.
When the media & Dan Rather tried to paint Bush with a tar brush with false accusations ....why was not Kerry questioned? Well, I suppose when a soon to be war hero shows up for duty in Viet Nam complete with a personal photographer , to expect him to fullfill his service committment & not slander his comrade in arms or support the enemy is too much to ask.....how many other low ranking officers had personal photographers or were allowed to disregard their committments.

Today the newspaper came out with a story that the victim-Dad in this crime was a black guy-so get this, No Hate Crime was committed! Screw that, I consider any attempted murder or bodily assault a Hate Crime. Sheesh, stupid Strib.
