I'll be the first to admit that I am not one of the Big Dogs. I've been plodding away at this blog since April of 2002. I got one Instalanche and that was in May of 2002. So I'm happy to announce that earlier today I went over three million hits. This calls for a celebration. I should have a Stoly on the rocks and a steak dinner with a nice bottle of wine. Wait! I've already done that which is why I logged on too late to see where hit number three million came from.
At this time, I would like to thank all of my readers. I would also like to thank all of the Blown-Eyed Blodgers who have made our blodgemeets so much fun. You peeps know who you are. It's amazing that I'm still alive trying to keep up with youse guys.
I'm gonna have a glass of grappa and toast all of my readers and all of the friends that I have mads since starting this blog.
Posted by denny at August 18, 2008 09:53 PMcongrats denny hope you get 3 million more
Posted by: dancingbear1564 on August 18, 2008 10:10 PMCongrats! I've never met a 3 million hit blogger before. I'll trade you a 6 pack of shiner for an autograph at the next blogmeet. :D
Yeah, Denny, it's been hella fun hanging out here. Here's to 3M more...
Posted by: Paul on August 18, 2008 10:23 PMCongrats Denny, but always remember, and never forget, it's the quality, not the quantity, that brings us back each day.
And as a bonus we also to get the opportunity to read the latest insane rants by insane libtards such as Teresa TDO, Dan S., and Socialist Sally.
Reading their drivel makes us all realize how lucky we are and that things could be much worse in our lives.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on August 18, 2008 10:28 PMI hear there's a special hazing event for millionaire bloggers at Helen. You're overdue by about 2 million, by my reckonin'.
I guess that means you'll have to be dropped on your ass down another 2 flights of stairs...
Posted by: Joan of Argghh! on August 18, 2008 10:54 PMCongrats I have been reading you since Jan of 04 and make sure i get my new wisdom insight and humor all in one site. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Posted by: greg on August 18, 2008 11:51 PMCongrats!
Posted by: Tina on August 19, 2008 12:03 AMThat's awesome Denny! Congrats. I know that I for one have had a kickass time visiting here and I have learned a lot as well. Thanks for putting up with my drunken drivel over these years. I've met a lot of great people via your badass blog...
It's always a pleasure to read a libturd and/or a troll getting shut down with the facts here. I have had many nights either laughing or drunken keyboarding. I'm surprised I haven't gotten a KWI yet.
Cheers too you Denny, and Cheers to 3 million more!
Posted by: CharlieDelta on August 19, 2008 12:04 AMOh yeah, so you never said where that three millionth (I know that's not a 'real' word) hit came from? Just curious is all...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on August 19, 2008 12:13 AMOh ... just so the boobage fans don't beat me to it ... Thanks for the mammaries! And, many more ....

Posted by: Jacob on August 19, 2008 07:49 AMIf I could bring my computer to the commode I would read you during the moring ritual in place of the Local Fish Wrap!!!!!
Posted by: ty guy on August 19, 2008 08:41 AMDenny- thanks for the enlightenment, laughs and boobage, though not necessarily in that order. Hope you get at least another three million.
And my thanks, too, to all of you who post here in comments. The GOC has been an island of sanity in the great sea of blogging drivel.
Dude, to me you're a Big Dog. And where else but teh intarwebz can you say that to someone and not get your ass kicked?
Mazel tov!
Posted by: Erica on August 19, 2008 09:42 AMHey, we thank you. It's been worth every penney.
Posted by: Woody on August 19, 2008 09:47 AMThree million hits. That's outstanding. Please let me echo Rob in stating that the quality is what has been bringing me back (since the days of gocinatlanta.blogspot.com)
Congrats!!

Posted by: Sandy G on August 19, 2008 10:41 AMCongratulations. Much appreciation from Canada. A very special thank you for Saturday Music. It brought me here. It will always keep me here. Although now I'm also addicted to your rants and visitors...
Posted by: Claudia on August 19, 2008 11:01 AMDenny.......
Three million is awesome but as Rob Cooper posted it is the quality not the quantity....You are better then most as you have both.
It has been my distinct pleasure to have been able to post & comment here, the vast majority of poster`s are intelligent & quite aware of what happens daily except for a few......TDO,
Socialist Sally & others. I do not put Dans or Prosper in their category but sometimes it is a hoot for their posts as well.
Congratulations for your achievement...whats next, a daily conservative talk show?
Actually, your FAQ still scares me to death, but your Soft Side wins me over. Just hope you'll get Softier not Grouchier as you get Oldier. Better tell you that my hands are alreay shaky. Hard sometimes to click and type when you shout...
Lifting my glass for the celebration. À la vôtre!
Posted by: Claudia on August 19, 2008 11:57 AMHappy Three Million, Dennis, from a mostly Lurking, sometimes Commenting Lupine.
Too bad it's overshadowed by those damm Ruskies invading Atlanta......
Posted by: Wollf on August 19, 2008 12:30 PMcongrats, denny. three million is a very big deal. dollar cost averaging? is that the key? seems to be from the responses above.
and claudia, he's not grouchy! you know how creepy folks sometimes misportray themselves on the internet? yeah, denny is a big lovable sweetie pie and that grouchy business is a lie. once you meet him, you'll wonder about the reality of "old" and "cripple" as well. he only plays the cripple card when it can bring quality boobage down to eye level
congrats again, denny. sorry for outing you on your blog.
Posted by: supergurl on August 19, 2008 12:43 PMCheers Darlin!
Posted by: becky on August 19, 2008 01:26 PMHey commenters:
"BOO!"
:)
That oughta be good for another 30-40 hits ...-right, Den?
You run a good, square blog with something to offer everyone who drops by. That's why I stop in.
What I think you ought to add to this variety is a nice little Bar 'n Grill with wireless access. Then, if I posted something outrageous, you could cut off my meal, stifle my drink & look over and see me grinnin' while keyboardin' more often than not.
Three million hits is indeed an awesome accomplishment! Bravo Zulu!
Posted by: DanS. on August 19, 2008 01:55 PMI do not remember when I first found you Denny, nor do I remember how I found you. Crap, I do not remember when your rants became a daily read. Hell, when did you be a check in a coupla times a day place because a fellow doesn't want to miss or delay a laugh?
I don't remember a lot of things. Guess that is an "old" thing too.
Thanks for the many laughs and things to think about.
(by the way, I think that I was #3,000,000 because of the great luck I have had. I just won $3,000,000.00 on the UK lottory this week-end according to the E-mail I got this morning!! 3 M is my lucky number)
Congratulations Denny,
3 mill. Is an awesome display of loyal readers.
Chuck- If you're like me, I was googling something about 3 to 3 1/2 years ago, and grouchyoldcripple.com happens to be one of the results. I thought the name was funny, so I decided to check out.
I'm glad I did, and have loved posting here, even though I'll admit it's usually late at night after consuming mass quantities of adult beverages, and I enjoy reading all the comments with a few notable exceptions, but I read those anyway.
Posted by: Rob Cooper on August 19, 2008 04:12 PMHow about a new feature, moonbats in action?
I nominate this goof, has to be a democrat.

Hell, I`ve won that UK lottery several times.....only problem is the money is taking a long long time to clear customs. I wonder which will arrive first, the UK money or the Nigerian Diamond inheritance which was bequeathed to me & is being handled by some Nigerian lawyer named Muwali Boomba or something like that.
I check my mailbox everyday & keep an eye on every UPS or Fedex truck in my neighborhood but I am still waiting. Bwahahahahaha!
Posted by: dudley1 on August 19, 2008 07:25 PMNicely done, GOC! The reason you have that many hits is because the material is entertaining, topical, and you say what you want to say, whether it offends anyone or not. (And of course you're right most of the time as well). That's what brings me back on a regular basis.
Posted by: Quinn - the free carbon offsets guy on August 19, 2008 07:35 PMwoot! i'll be happy when i hit 100k!

congrats denny (and chuck - though i think the problem may be that pounds in america are a "disability" not a currency).
you've attracted an interesting crowd, and i include the likes of sally, TDO, et al. it's refreshing at times to see how ridiculous the other side is.
anyway, here's to another few millions.

Well done, Denny. I'll clean a urinal in your honor tonight. :-)

Posted by: Daddy-o on August 19, 2008 09:52 PMWell you certainly have been busy..........hard to collect that many zero's in one spot!

Posted by: forest hunter on August 19, 2008 10:18 PMWay to go Denny! It was me, I was the 3 millionth hit...what do I win?
Posted by: JackieD on August 19, 2008 10:37 PMForget about E.F. Hutton ...; -when Dennis Wilson writes, people read.
I’ve always known, that given the opportunity to provide your opinion and analysis, people would want to know what you have to say. And would respond.
I am truly glad that this blog has given you the opportunity to demonstrate that. I won’t wish you luck with your new numbers; you don’t need it.
But in the interest of keeping you grounded, I’ll remind you about that time when you said you would be thrilled if you could ever reach 30,000 hits.
I knew then that you would eventually exceed that goal exponentially.
Sometimes I think you don’t realize how valued your honest, fair, well-thought-out-viewpoint on the political world is.
Just kidding. :)
Sometimes I think you don’t realize how valued your diverse, fair, well thought-out policies on how to run a day-to-day kick-ass Blog on & about the real-World really is. And the responses from your READERS!!! Wow!
NOT kidding at all!
I have had some very good 'side-chat's' with quite a number of 'members' here and have become richer for it. ¡Yo en particular como cambio con CD en solamente español alrededor de las Vacaciones!: ¡)!
I particularly like exchanging with CD in nothing but Spanish around the Holidays! :)!
Guild Function; On-The-Road; Saturday Boobage; Saturday Bach; Monday Pun ... -all that's missing is "Who Wants to be a Pinata El jueves?"
All of which is to say:
Just do what you are doing; I'll provide my hits.
Rob Cooper - thats my story too. always a cornucopia of fun. thanks Denny.
Posted by: patrick on August 19, 2008 11:47 PMI miss the international topics. Nothing about Georgia, Afgahnistan, or Subprime crise ?
Posted by: Prosper on August 20, 2008 09:52 AMCongrats man! No bumper stickers or moonshine for the winner? Here is to 3 million more!
Posted by: kerrcarto on August 20, 2008 11:24 AMMarcel - LOL. Didn't know that you were still around. I still haven't bought a classical guitar. I've been blowing my money on SCUBA, skiing and road trips.
Posted by: Denny on August 20, 2008 11:42 AMProsper......
It`s off topic but.......
Georgia...Georgia initiated this situation when they attempted to reel in a province which had declared it to be independent from Georgia. Since South Ossentia is ethnically Russian,to not expect Russia to respond was a bad decision.
More importantly Georgia itself is a breakaway province from the old USSR.....As Russia the survivor to the USSR gains more military strength, economic power & continues to have a central authoritarian government supported by the people...I would expect for Russia to begin to reel in the weaker of the former Soviet states.
We the United States needs to be very careful what alliances & promises we make in Eastern Europe if we are not able to control just what our newfound allies choose to do. Very dangerous times ahead I am afraid.
Afghanistan....It appears as Al Queda & the Taliban are going to make a stand there. This is the battle which will settle the Middle East issue for sometime to come....This is not the time to be timid as I would expect they, Al Queda & the Taliban will continue to use Pakistan as a safe haven. I expect this facet of the war on terror to expand probably from the air into Pakistan with or without Pakistani approval.
The Subprime crisis.....Not really an issue as far as I am concerned , let those dumb enough to overextend themselves fail....The nature of business is to correct the folly of dumb asses on its own without Government interferance.
Well, there you are..... fodder/bait for you to post on Prosper....Have at it.
Posted by: dudley1 on August 20, 2008 02:26 PM
Prosper
Just to let you know, we are aware of the Talliban attack on French troops this past week.
Our hearts and gratitude are with the families and your nation.
The tally's are about to pay a huge price for fucking with our allies.
Huge....
Actually, Prosper. I'd like to echo what Chuck said.
Posted by: PeggyU on August 20, 2008 04:40 PMCongrats on the 3,000,000 hits, Denny!
Do you want to know what this site is, my friend? It's a safe haven from all the liberal bullshit we have to put up with. Take Obama, for example...
All I ever hear about these days is how Obama the Miracle Worker is going to water walk and "save our country". Sure. National health care, $20.00/hour minimum wage, and enough windmills to solve our energy crisis. Yeah, I can't fuckin' wait. He has all the answers. Just like a certain peanut farmer we once knew...
Want to get into office? Tell people what they want to hear and MAKE SURE they believe you. If they buy your bullshit and you get elected, then you can do whatever you want---even get your dick sucked by a pudgy intern.
Denny shoots straight and keeps things simple. That's why his counter is spinning like a top.
Posted by: Marksman2000 on August 20, 2008 07:05 PMDenny,
At this time, I would like to thank all of my readers.
NO THANK YOU!!!
I few years ago my farther-in-law showed me a joke or something here, since then not only have I been entertained, I have become more informed in world in which I live and need to take part in.
SO AGAIN THANK YOU for sharing you "Grouchy" community
Dudley - bullseye on Georgia. They slapped Russia and they got their bell rung so hard in return they are looking for a phone to answer. I don't know anything in the world about South Ossentia, but I do know if you get hit, the best answer to keep it from happening again is a thourough ass whipping. If I were Russia I'd have done the same thing.
also, could not help but think that with Russia's army built to fight this kind of Euro warfare, they had some pent up mojo all these years after the afganistan fiasco.
Posted by: patrick on August 20, 2008 10:45 PMCongrats! I came for the music, and I've stayed for all the rest of the fun. Pithy commentators, satire, jokes & puns, and sensible politics! It's all good! Thank you Denny, here's looking forward to the next 3,000,000 !!!
Posted by: Mary on August 20, 2008 11:06 PMThree Million Hits? Big Deal. I've lost twice as many clients due to my inability to actually argue a case without resorting to name calling and spewing liberal talking points.
Ooops, gotta go! I think I hear an ambulance calling...
Debate over!
Posted by: Sally on August 21, 2008 04:20 AMOur hearts and gratitude are with the families and your nation.
unexpected on this blog, all the more reason to appreciate the thought. Thank you Chuck & Peggy.
Dud, we'll wait for our host.
Posted by: Prosper on August 21, 2008 12:04 PMProsper.....
Just wanted to echo the comments of Chuck & Peggy....We will not forget our French allies in Afghanistan......They will be avenged, we do have compassion & understanding for our friend`s & allies.Your troops are there on the ground with ours , an attack on them is an attack on our forces as well.Doom will befall the Taliban.
Posted by: dudley1 on August 21, 2008 12:37 PMProsper - I do appreciate the help France is giving us in Afghanistan and I'm sorry for the loss of men. Happy now?
Posted by: Denny on August 21, 2008 01:11 PMEuh, Denny, when I said I was waiting for you, that was about your next rant on international crises...
Posted by: Prosper on August 21, 2008 03:33 PMProsper, why are you surprised by our support of French troops in Afghanistan? Those brave French soldiers are the boots on the ground and are stomping terrorist ass as we speak. Just because we don't see eye-to-eye on every issue doesn't mean we would turn our backs on French heroes.
Who do you think we are? Jane Fonda?
Posted by: Marksman2000 on August 21, 2008 07:32 PMDenny, I've been around, I just don't comment. Too much mud to wade through at times. You're still a daily read. Where else is a fellow gonna get his Saturday boobage?
Posted by: marcel on August 21, 2008 11:32 PMProsper -
In Canada, we eulogized everywhere, in our newspapers and newscasts, the French soldiers who died last week.
Sometimes, I'm wondering if France ever mentions the Canadian losses in Kandahar. It happened again this week. Three more, in one day. Over 90 now. War is hard. For everyone. We're more convinced than ever that we need to be there to contain the Taliban.
Posted by: Claudia on August 22, 2008 02:38 PMMay I clarify that the Allies in Afghanistan are not "helping" the Americans. We're all doing this for ourselves, to ensure security in our own land. We're bloody lucky that USA is supplying more soldiers than any other country. And also most of the ammunitions.
If the Allied countries had any heart and any brain, they would also send some of their troops in Iraq, alongside the USA Army. Amazing that anyone can still believe that terrorism is only-american-oriented.
Posted by: Claudia on August 22, 2008 03:36 PMDenny -
I'm making a bloody nuisance of myself by putting my Canadian nose everywhere on your blog. But it might have taken you another month to reach THREE millions if I had not clicked the GOC many times a day...With a wink, and laughter!
