On the other hand we have a worn-out RINO with questionable leadership experience whose policies, except for taxes and the US role in Iraq specifically and the Middle East in general, perfectly parallel those of the Clinton machine who decided to go with a rookie governor with virtually no hands-on experience in legislative or judicial matters and very little knowledge of foreign policy, immigration, international business, or national politics.

The left is inextricably mired in a deep rut formed by decades of knee-jerk partisanship and rigid inflexibility, rendering them totally unresponsive to basic economics, common sense, and the lessons of history. The right has a faulty compass and a balky rudder and continues to bullheadedly fire its main battery at its own foot, choosing to embrace rhetoric and stubbornness in place of principle and commitment.

Virtually no major-level politician in this nation seems to understand that it’s not about THEM, it’s about US. They’re interested only in winning an election, not solving a problem. Their primary focus is not on what’s right, but what’s politically expedient, which translates to keeping the other party out of power. I actually agree with you somewhat, TDHO. She needs to be there for her daughter. But does she need to be there 24/7? In a lot of ways, from the standpoint of being able to provide financially for her family, Sarah Palin is doing well. We tend to look at people in light of our own experiences and our own circumstances. You look at Sarah Palin and see a woman whose day will be eaten up by meetings and obligations. True. But ... she also has a support system and resources that few of us have access to. I am pretty sure she has been relieved of the housework, cooking, yard work, etc. ... the daily grind that most of us must all shoulder. This frees up some time for a personal life.

A good friend of mine and I had a lengthy discussion about this last night. Why? Because we both have daughters and neither of us could see ourselves, were we in Sarah Palin's position, pursuing a promotion if it would come at the expense of the well being of any of our children. I don't think Sarah Palin is a bad mother. And I think it is easy to make damning assumptions about people you don't know when you don't have all of the information you need. I don't know these people personally, do you? I don't know what their relationship is with their children. If I had to make a guess, based on the words spoken by Sarah Palin, I would say that they believe their eldest daughter has chosen to assume the responsibilities of adulthood, and so they are treating her as an adult. If that is the case, it is quite possible that they had a family discussion about this and the daughter's opinion was weighed into the decision to accept the position. For all we know, Sarah Palin may be doing this with her daughter's blessing. They have had five months to adjust to the daughter's situation, but for us it is fresh news. And in spite of the accusations of Palin not being properly vetted, I recall seeing her name on potential VP lists for quite some time now ... and I have a good memory, thanks!

I didn't quit my job, I helped her accept the roles of motherhood and responsibility that she took on; she lives by herself, supports herself and her children, and makes me proud.
